I love the flocks flying, too! I've seen this before on tv, i think it also had a bit where one little budgie drowned . I could never be a wildlife photographer- i'd want to save the ones in trouble!! I'd be chasing that big mean lizard going "shoo! Leave that poor baby alone!!"

Thanks Libby, he did actually have a few flight feathers left on each side but i have had them clipped today because he was still flying amazingly well, & high! Now he's doing what the vet called "controlled falling" (but i prefer to call it "falling with style" ) & is already much happier to jump onto a finger to help him get around! I will only be having him clipped this one time, to help with taming.

Hi, please tell me what variety etc Peanut is! I've been reading up a little & i think he's a yellowface, cobalt (maybe- still very young!), greywing?? His flight feathers are white. The 1st photo is without flash, the 2nd one is with flash but the only one I currently have that shows his back. Thanks!

Hi, some of you have met Peanut & me already in the "what sex is my budgie" forum. Just thought i'd post a few new pics of him! Isn't he cute?? Training is going quite well- i'm not particularly methodical about it, we just try to get him out with us & handle him as much as possible (& stop,obviously, if he seems to be stressed out!).

for all your help, everyone! We are now officially referring to Peanut as "he" at home! And thanks to all who commented on how cute he is- i feel like a proud mummy now!! I will keep you posted on how he's doing, in the New Budgies forum or whichever other ones suit what i'm writing about.

Hi, i've tried the best i can to get a good clear photo of Peanut's cere (how is that pronounced by the way? Is it like "sear"?) so i'm hoping you guys can tell me if i have a lil boy or a lil girl?

Thank you all again for being so caring! My lil peanut is definitely eating, i've seen it picking up the seeds and can hear them being crunched up, yay! It doesn't seem to eat many at a time, but seems to have plenty of energy & likes to hang from the cage roof & flap, & is doing all the "escape artist" stuff trying to find a way out! It has already noticed where the main cage door is & spends quite a bit of time trying to get out there! It's chirping lots more, has found the mirrors & is making friends with them, & also likes the little hiding place i have for it (s stubby holder ) where it seems to like having little naps. As for posting a picture- i've been trying with no success! I have the pics in photobucket, that bit was easy, but i can't seem to get them on here! are the instructions different for Mac computers at all?

okay, it CAN fly, & when i last checked on it, it was sitting @ (at) the seed container- a good sign, right?

hi all! just bought my new baby yesterday, not sure if male or female. i'll try to post a couple of pics in a minute! so far he/she is doing all the "normal" new budgie things- sitting still, not eating, looking terrified! (poor lil guy !!) I've read lots of info here & have put a towel over the cage now, & scattered some seed on the bottom. the one thing that worries me (& the lady who sold him/her 2 me) is that he/she had only come out of the nest the day before (so, Wednesday) & she wasn't sure if it was eating on its own yet. so when should i start to get worried about it not eating? (so far its been less than 24 hours). apart from the seed, i've also got some millet & some seed grass in there.
