Peanut's Colour
Hi all! You wonderful clever people here have told me that Peanut is a yellow face type two cobalt or sky violet spangle- what i want 2 know is, how likely is he to change colour?? I've noticed on his chest & tummy a few greenish feathers creeping in! He hasn't had his 1st moult yet.

Piccolo Taming Journal
In the past i didn't know that mirrors can slow down taming, but i wouldn't worry too much about it! The tamest, most gorgeous budgie i've had so far, Wally, had plenty of mirrors- my dad even built him a box that we called his "tardis"- when he went in there it had mirrors on all 3 sides so everywhere he looked there were green budgies- like his own flock! . But even though he loved to go in there, he was completely & totally in love with me in particular but also the rest of my family (even my mum who used to shoo him away whenever he came near her )

I Wonder If Budgies Can See Colour?
not sure... but i did see on a budgie documentary that they can see ?ultraviolet or something? They showed how the little bright purple bits on the cheeks of the wild green budgies actually look like they glow to the other budgies, don't know how they figured that out but it was interesting! I'm sure there's a link to that documentary on here somewhere, its on Youtube. (sorry... don't recall the name of it!)

How Often Does A Healthy Budgie Drink?
I've had Peanut for a few months now & haven't seen him drink yet- but i know he must, he's obviously healthy & he certainly isnt getting any liquid from vegies, he won't touch them yet!! (i'll keep trying though!)

Peanut's Playground!
Hi! I've been so inspired seeing the things you guys have created for your budgies that i decided to make Peanut a new playground! His old one was just one of those plastic-coated metal fold out clothes drying racks, which i wasn't overly happy with as my previous budgie used to chew off the plastic coating- yum . so i collected some eucalyptus branches from my back yard, gave then a good scrub & dried them in the sun. Then i arranged them in a large plastic tub filled with plaster. At the moment it looks fairly busy, as we transferred most of the old playground toys to it to make it welcoming for Peanut. As before, i have a skipping rope (the colourful rope you can see in some of the pics) acting as a bridge between the playground & his cage (his wings are clipped, the cage is on top of a small chest of drawers & the playground is on a small table so the bridge is the only way he can go back & forth without help!) He was a little wary at first, but once we put him on the playground & showed him where the bridge was, he soon settled in & now he loves it! YAY!

To Clip Or Not To Clip
I like to do one clip- my previous budgie was quite young, but when i tried to handle her she bit me SO hard that i unintentionally let her go & she flew into all the windows, giving herself a blood nose (poor lil girl!) So i had her clipped, made it much easier to get her to hop on my finger, & the same goes with Peanut- if he's on the floor & wants to move up now (his wings are clipped), he'll run to my finger, or my 6 year old's- it's really improved the trust he has for us, & we won't clip again once his feathers grow back unless absolutely necessary!

Learning Whistles/songs/sounds
A wolf whistle is the same as what you call the "pretty lady" whistle i think- the one guys do when a hot chick walks by! We used to feed magpies on our balcony, & since they were around so much my previous budgie could make magpie noises- so cute!!
