Whats Best For Budgies
I was going to suggest that. As other have said they don't seem to have trouble adjusting to the REALLY big cage they now have. If he isn't friendly toward you I think he would be better suited as part of the flock your going to be getting.

Breeding Advice Needing For Baby Budgies
the Yogurt is an interesting mix. Although I don't have a problem with it as long as it is changed regularly so it doesn't go off. You could add some other veggs and fruit (e.g corn, carrot, broccoli, apple, pear) with the spinach for more of a mix. but it sounds as if your doing great.

Small Baby Bird Gender?
Your description matches that of a young female. And she looks like a greywing skyblue.

My Boys
the cere looks very pink and even to me, which is what a baby boy budgie should have. Young hens have a mixed cere of purple-pink, white or light blue and normally have noticeable white rings around the nares.

Small Baby Bird Gender?
it's hard to tel with the flash glare but I would lean towards a young female. how old are your other birds? Also are you quarantining this new bird? It is best to check for signs of illness which the stress of the move to a new place can bring out, which can then in turn infect your existing birds.

Current Project
http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....topic=15686&hl= there is the thread by Norm. It's a bit hard to see the plastic turn things in the picture. But the work the same as the little turning tags on a back of a photo frame (although thicker.)

don't you just hate it when one special budgie talk to you. He is a cute one. There are some slight signs of him being a double factor dominant pied. The dot of colour around his neck and the wing markings in a big group. The only real way to know is to wait for him to grow up. If he is recessive he will keep the pink cere and will not get any iris rings (white rings) if he is dominant pied he will get the blue cere like a normal male and iris rings. Since he came from a pet store I would start working with his now to get him tame as possible for meeting Harley.

Hey Y'all!
Hi and welcome I already answer the other thread you made before finding this one. I hope you find lots of things to help you here and enjoy it as well. We are all friendly and don't be afraid to ask, ask and ask. one think - short cuts. chat speak are not favored on this site. We do allow some (e.g (Laughing out loud), and for budgie mutations), this is becuase many members here do not have English as a first language.

Greens While Mating
A good healthy diet is need year around. Fresh food such as carrots, boiled eggs mashed up, sprouts, lettuce (not iceberg) peas, apple (not the seeds) pear and corn are all okay to feed. There are many reasons that can cause a hen to become egg bound, age (too young or too old), lack of calcium and sudden drops in temperature can cause issues with egg laying. If you wish to look into breeding please read as much information as you can first, there is great information in the FAQ area and the breeding area of this forum.

What Do I Do With My Bird?
Wow she must love someone in the family allot (and I think I may be you) 4-5 months is still a young bird in regards to breeding. They need to be at least a year old (15-18 months is a good age for hens) To stop her from laying, shorten her daylight hours, also rearrange her cage some times a change in their environment upsets them enough to stop. Look around the cage area for something she might be seeing as a nesting site as well. such as a dark area or a hollow item and either remove it or cover it. and Welcome to the site, i hope you enjoy it and get some helpful answers.

Another Question
I wasn't worried about the size of the box, just looking at the way they had to get in by jumping/flying from the other perch. The cycle length depends on each bird, sometimes it will only take about a month for others 6 months.

Breeding Advice Needing For Baby Budgies
Daz is right it depends on how tight the mother sits on the eggs, as tot he time the hatch. Some hatch early others later 18 days is just a guide. Here is a link on how to post pictures on this forum. posting Pictures

Another Question
you could have just missed her breeding cycle. They might be 'starting' again so to speak. Is the male feeding and wooing her? or do they ignore each other? I can't tell from the pictures about her, I can't even see the cere colour, it is brown, tan, blue or white? Also that is a VERY big looking nest box for them, and they don't even have something to stand on at the nest hole. I can see that it looks like there might be a wooden dowel stick in the hole, is it still inside the nest? if so push it through the hole so it is sticking outside as a branch just in front of the entry hole. The boxes get transported an stored like that so they don't break.

Easier Said Than Done
My suggestions: Step 1 STOP FEELING GUILTY! The dog is a new addition to your family and will need adjusting to. You are doing what is best for the birds safety at this point. Step 2 Work on the dog now as a young one to stop the separation anxiety. Read up on techniques and such to stop this. One of the most important is not making a big fuss of the dog when you first come home/ into the room. Once 10 mins or the dog has settled down give him a hello pat/cuddle. Also no big goodbyes pat, talks, kisses, makes so it is not a big deal when you come and go. Also you may not realize but you go though a routine when you are getting to go out. Think about your steps and re-inact the routine but then don't leave, some dogs with separation anxiety get really worked up seeing this routine and mixing it up if the pattern retults in your leaving or not makes it meaningless to the dog. Once this has been deal with (and it may take a while) you can start to work in the dog and birds together idea.

Decided Not To Hand Feed And Tame By Holding Them?
make sure you handle them ALLOT when they are starting to fledge and be independent from the parents this is when they learn what their wings are for and that they don't have stay with you.

Decided Not To Hand Feed And Tame By Holding Them?
?? That shouldn't happen. An opaline Male give one opaline gene to ALL his children, that makes the hens Opaline and the males if to a normal hen split. An opaline Hen give the gene to ALL of her sons, matched to an opaline cock makes all the males show opaline. It could be that you had a normal with opalescence on the wings making the bird look like an opaline.
