  1. yep yf grey normal. she is only a baby so she is just starting to get the bleed of yellow turning her body colour to grey-green
  2. looks like some blue is starting to show i would still say girl. the second bub tho i would have guessed male
  3. STEALS!
  4. great birds, i would say hens for the first two. love the yellowface type one cock
  5. I'm confused on if the mother and father listed is for the chick or the hen
  6. the key to pick opaline is the white down feathers, it is easier to see when they are younger than this, when the down is just starting to appear as they wings will have dark spots on them however the body will still look all pink. I agree with GB first, third and fourth opaline spangles
  7. i only see one topic by you in that section so yes your Hen is hiding the dominant pied gene and it is appearing in the chicks. I also don't see any sign of blue.
  8. ahh i see the 'bright blue'bit now not the best at reading early in the morning before work.
  9. why is no one thinking this is a female bird coming into it adult colour? it is a newly brought bird that started with a blue cere (not clear if this was pale blue or dark blue) and the bird is having a moult at the same time. if brought from a pet shope these birds are at least 3-4 months of age and the right time to start showing the adult colour on the cere. can pictures?
  10. incase you are not sure the / mean split for. also you can get normal blue cock as well still split for ino can we get pictures?
  11. great birds! love the first chick shown, i think he will be a beauty.
  12. you could be right Nubby, however for now all I'm seeing is black tail feathers in the two chicks in question
  13. sorry but ive never heard of DF violet turning to appear normal. Voilet could be a factor here - but both cheek and tail feathers are the key to a grey-green or not, and now both those chicks look to have black tails to me.
  14. my first thought was a kingfisher, but you seem to know about that bird plus i think they are blue all over (heads as well) was the beak black or coloured?
  15. i was looking at the same hen, i want to see more of that 3rd chick then as the tail looks black to me. how are you breeding?
  16. agree with kaz the blue tail on the first chick rules out grey-green. the last two are sky normal and sky spangle
  17. they are usually the younger chicks and so might be getting too much full seed in their crops making it harder for them to get nutrients need to develop correctly.
  18. sounds like a dominant pied with the talk of a band of colour on the body. heavy flecking is possible too. pictures always help tho
  19. bubbles is a sky blue, Elly isn't grey as her cheek patches are blue looking at that picture I would lean toward her being a mauve. Sunshine looks tricky with the blue under his tail, i would state yellowface type 2 can you confirm that colour, also what the feathers are under his wings?
  20. or she could lose them in the next moult. are you sure she is dominant pied?
  21. not grey-green Kaz, the cheek patches are blue not grey, cinnamon wouldn't change that in a grey-green.
