In Perth, Western Australia is 1308 hrs and the temp is 39.3 degrees C. Wind is westerly at 17 kph. Humidity 17% Source: iinet http://iinet.net.au/customers/weather/place.html?6000
  2. I reckon your bird is a Double Factor Goldenface(YF2). There is just too much yellow in the tail for it to be a Single Factor Yellowface Mutant 1 (YF1).
  3. You are right RIPbudgies, that building is not part of the WACA. Look closely everyone... please note that picture is taken form the car. You will see other objects in the picture. The cars in front are not part of the WACA, nor is the bush, nor is the orange witches hat/cone. I was driving nearby and saw the light towers. I was making the point that the WACA was over there. Sorry if that posed confusion to others. Well sorry if I upset you but at least I didn't get childish about it!!!!
  4. Firstly your Greywing is not a Greywing it is a Dilute Light Green. Paired to a Lacewing, and if neither is split for blue, you will produce 100% Greens. Generally if you are breeding for showing purposes then do not mix Cinnamon with Greywing. But since this bird is a Dilute is won't matter as Black-eyed Yellows and White are a combo of Dilute and Cinnamon. There is nothing interesting about Lacewing at all. It is simply a Cinnamon-Ino, the result of a crossover of the Cinnamon and Ino genes. When paired to another birds it behaves as any other sex-linked variety. Unless recombination occurs which is rare.
  5. Hey Dave love ya beach pics. Your WACA photo a good one but not exactly the WACA mate. That building is the old East Perth Police Headquarters. The lighting towers are all you can see of the WACA from that angle.
  6. krosp found it. The birds that were shown breeding in the wild were replaced with captive birds when showing the goings on inside the nest hollow. It showed an Opaline hen feeding chicks. There were opalines and a Pied in the nest. Yellows have been spotted from time to time in wild flocks.
  7. Yeah it is very sad but part of the Australian way of life. I have stayed at the Overlander and the worked through that area in 2007. Water is scare as is food. The sheep and goats plus lack of water have really taken its toll on that area. There are no dams up there everything comes out of ground into tanks. The Overlander is not exactly running over with water it is highly rationed there.
  8. I'm with you Pie. I have always wanted quakers But our law forbids it here. They worry about them getting out. Bit if a joke really when you consider how many lorrikeets are flying round the place and have spread further afield. I have on many occasion seen ringneck parrots perched in the big gum tree back of my place.
  9. Just caught the late night news about this and decided to track down the article. http://www.thewest.com.au/default.aspx?Men...ontentID=117875
  10. That was an excellent link. So how many of you spotted the mistake?
  11. Texas Clearbody Opaline Dilute Light Green. Wing markings are grizzled as you would expect to find in a TCB. There is a defianate wing mirror which is an Opaline trait. Blue/Grey tail consistent with Dilute. Markings are pale grey consistent with Dilute. The body colour on Dilutes is reduced to around 25%. The body colour of Clearbodies is reduced with less reduction on the rump and when combined with Opaline is reduced further. So if you add the TCB body colour already altered by the Opaline onto a bird with 25% body colour then you will get a body colour nearly yellow with some suffusion still on the rump as shown in the picture.
  12. Glad to see ya made it Dave. Whats going on in Gingin. I myself will be in Cuballing that day.
  13. Jigsaw is beautiful. She reminds of my cat that sadly passed away a couple year back. She had a good innings though almost 20 years old.
  14. What country town ya taking him to?
  15. Hope your gonna take photos of ya barefeet at the wedding.
  16. If you have the facility to supply the seeds indiviually you have far less waste. Most Budgie mixes on the market are not made for individual bird likes and dislikes. Time of year and weather your breeding or not makes a difference also.
  17. You would probably find that in the wild the hen would most likely be mated by an older bird. The older bird is more mature and persistent and learnt the ways of females and how to beat off rivals. The other reason is research has shown that females pick their partner based on spot size. Rain is a trigger to commence breeding as with rain comes seeding grasses. There must be plently of food to raise the young.
  18. JB not seeing the logs I have no idea how they have been set up. All hole need to be blocked if the chicks are quite capable of climbing out. If not then they don't need to be. An hour is not that long. Make sure the air con is on in the van and that it is all nice and cool. Keep the van running if you have to through the whole move.
  19. Hey guys this is a really great idea and there should be more of it. Anyone in WA wanna give it a shot.
  20. May I suggest a bit of switching around. Raine to Pebble. Pebble is a Dilute, Raine is a Greywing. This paring will breed Greywings and some of which will be YF Henry to Angel. Spangle Dom Pied Opaline hens will be bred. Nice combo. Fred to Patches. All Light Greens and some will be Dom Pieds. BamBam to Jasmine. Sky to Cobalt so both colours can be bred. Some will be YF and some Dom Pieds and some will be YF Dom Pieds. Tinker to Liz. Two dark factor birds will produce an Olive and if Tinker is split blue some Mauves. With Violet factor there and the Opaline. Nice combo Oplaine Violet especially with a clear V. Tex to Pearl. Both Opalines so 100% Opalines. Sky to Mauve 100% Cobalts, Yummy Innocents to Sam. Breeding with the Cobalt will help indicate colour of Albino. Jake to Wilma. This pair will produce 100% Light Greens all being split for Dilute. If Wilma is split for blue this pairing will point it out.
  21. You need to try and get the logs with the chicks in them. Set up the new home exactly the same as the last one. Once eberything has got to normal you then change things around. You need to get help if you can and have everything ready. First catch up all the birds that do not have chicks. Leave the parents to last especially the hens. Get all the birds in the car. Last thing catch parents, put in the car and at the same time this is being doen somebody gets the logs and plugs the holes. place in car and go as quickly as possible. No rally driving. On arrival at new home make sure all food water eberything you need is ready to go. Place logs in then parents. Then introduce the rest of the flock. Try to do this all on a day with low temperatures. As Kaz already ementioned can you foster? It is taking a chance as you don't know what the new birds have but you can allways do a flock treatment. Treat everything as in quarantine. Wish you the best and I hope all goes well if you get them.
  22. I have had to move studs not once but twice. Both times I was breeding. I had no problem moving parents with chicks. I never lost a single chick or had a single parent go off eggs. Time management is the key. You have to have everything in place at both ends.
  23. Hey Sailorwolf I toodled off to the GIMP website and downloaded me a copy. Had a quick dabble and it seems to be a really good program for a free one. I always used the Corel suite of programs and it is as good as that. I love the name GNU Image Manipulation Program. Clever use of the name Gnu which just happens to be the name for and animal in Africa, the Wilderbeast.
  24. Hey GB, I got some more ivermectin (spot on neck) from vet yesterday and I asked her about the dilution rate. She said you can't dilute the spot on stuff with water because the water and ivermectin seperates (a bit like oil in water). It must be mixed with a different liquid of the same consistancy (Can't remember what it was... started with a "p") However the cattle ivermectin (to go in the drinking water) can be diluted with water but needs to be digested (ie put in their water). Liquid Parrafin be the name your looking for?
  25. Your not thinking of Moxidectin are you?
