  1. sorry guys those hens are too far into breeding condition. Their cere should just be colouring to tan and they should be active. By that I mean chewing at perchs and hoping around. By the time they have that dark choclate cere only a good cock can bring them on.

Kaz it's great and running The Budgerigar Program (plug for Jeff) in the aviary is the easiest way to computerise the records.

Macka the worst i've seen was at a table show. An Albino in a show cage broke a blood feather... what a mess. As said it looks worst than it is.

  16. Karen, The young Malenistic that is in the nest came from Jazz and Bob. The others came from Jazz and Bluey so it's jazz that is carrying the gene. Do you still have her brothers/sisters or relitives? If not you can have the young chick when it fledges. Elly I have a DVD from Jeff Attwood where he goes past his experience with the Malenistic Spangle and has taken the variety to the Double Factor and one he calls the mutant 1. He has now developed five different types of Spangles. Single Factor Conventional Double Factor Conventional Single Factor Malenistic Double Factor Melanistic Mutant 1. The mutant 1 is different, the chick feathers up as an adult. Where by the SF Melanistic looks like a normal to start with except the white tail. It then moults into the Malenistic as an adult.
  17. Yes you can.

He looks to be finishing off his moult. It could just be a blood feather that has broken. Give him a clean with some fresh water and a small bit of antiseptic and if there is no head injury, i'd put him back in the flight. I have one in the flight that did it on Saturday night. After a bit of disturbance I found a bloody head on a Spangle Light green. It looks worst than it really is.
  19. Clip both wings but only the 1st 4 flight feathers on each wing. She will be able to flight but not for far and if she falls she will be able to save herself.
  20. Don't worry, a lot of people thing opaline when it's just a poorly marked spangle. Greywing Pairings
  21. Here is some information in our fact section. Why won't my hen lay an egg?
  22. Kaz, Greywing is a recessive gene. That would mean both birds are split to greywing. Hope your Father inlaw is going good.
  23. I enjoyed it.
  24. Great shots Nerwen... I saw some simalar birds to these today..
