  2. You scored: 4 / 5 Total points: 40 The average score for this quiz: 2 / 5 I don't know who sponcers the English scene. Golden Cob is the sponcer for the Australian Nationals.
  3. I mix my own, that way I am sure of what they are getting.
  4. Bea what are the eyes? Black, Red or Black with an irus ring?

8/10 I got stuck on the two tail feathers... Was too quick to answer them.
  6. I use calcivet, Multi vitamins, Probotics and Coccivet. I also use the Aloe Vera and Wormer.
  7. Bea what was the parents? It "looks" like a Double factor spangle with grey suffussion. Cock.
  8. The first bird looks to be a cinnamon grey the second is a Normal Cobalt. The Cobalt is showing some "Opalesence" around the back of the neck. It is cause by the opaline gene but the bird need not carry the gene to have the efect.

There is a current view that the virus is caused by a moth. The moth lays it's eggs in the seed and the Parents eat the seed for there young. The parents have an imunity to the virus but as the young don't they are effected. Some runners will grow their feathers and will fly. Most will not breed but if they do will pass their imunity to there young. Some say that the effected ones are carriers and will infect the rest of the flight.. I have had three this year. Culled one, Kept one and the third is still in the nest. He will be culled.
  10. umm now there's a thought. Cn a bird carry three dominant genes. I don't think so but I could be wrong. Nerwen?

You should be 100% SF Spangles. Unless the cock is split to a sex link.
  12. Well to be exact they aren't paler they are yellower. If they weren't yellowfaces they would be white.
  13. No not nessacary it depends on the strength of the genes. For example SF Spangle to SF Spangle gives 25% DF Spangle 50% SF Spangle and 25% Normal. I have had 13 chicks from this pairing with only 1 df Spangle. SF Spangle to normal should give 50% Spangle 50% Normal but many breeders may not get 1 spangle from this pairing all season.. The selections are only for a perfect world over hundreds of pairings. You could find that SF Spangle to SF Dominant Pied could give normals, Spangles, Dominant pieds and Dominant Pied Spangles..

Ghalib Al-Nasser is very much the expert on Spangles. I have artiles from him and also Jeff Attwood. I have a DVD by Jeff Attwood when he was at our nationals last year and he talks on the improvement of the spangles.

Kaz I need to see the wings. Franna has too much markings does the chick have less?
  16. Rainbow I am truely lucky I also live near many great breeders such as Henry.
  17. Is thats right. What I was saying is that like Nerwen I was trying to get my head around the configertations you were using. Now (a + x) being two dominant genes of diferents type. My example was the Dominant pied Spangle. These are two dominant gens in the same bird. But a Macka said you can't had Double Factor dominant genes of different type in the same bird. I was just agreeing with your analigy and giving an example. :budgiedance:
  18. I have never heard it explained that way.. I even had to head back to the books. :budgiedance: I had to think about "2 Dominant Genes (a + x): Sometimes 25% both expressed, 25% a expressed, 25% x expressed, 25% neither one expressed >single factor unless neither one is expressed<" But can relate to a Dominant Pied Spangle which is in fact carrying two dominant genes but both diferent and can only be single factor and not double factor.
  19. Nerwen the club will probibly be invited back next year.
  20. Very Well done Marlony, I am very impressed.

Interesting Question Paul. I was reading an article in the Budgerigar World on the same issue. The Avairian Vet which wrote the article was saying that it's up to the physical state of the birds. Some can breed successfully at a younger age but some may not be ready until 18 months to 2 years.
  22. Best of luck.. let us know how they go.

That is a very good suppliment for everything except Calcium. It is something I would be adding to a soft food. But as Kaz said, it's not a calcium suppliment, unless you can see somewhere that has a calcium level?
  24. That is a great looking cage
  25. we will see if they all happen.
