I'm over at Warner at the back of the Shopping Centre. It wasn't too bad with the smoke. Hope you can make the meeting or at least the show. There is an auction on the 30th September there at the hall. Some very good birds will be up for sale.

Work has ceased for the day.. I need some 19mm pine to make some square perches and some more hooks for the nest boxes. Then this project is finished

Hi Patrick Pine River Shire Council (currently) have a limit of 20 birds. I have a permit for mine. What Shire / council are you in?
  6. Thanks Rainbow. The chick on the left is a "Pet" bird the one on the right is a show bird. Both are 21 days old. You can see the difference.

Lunch time here. I have taken some shots. Work shop area. one of the breeding cages gluing up Nest boxes with out the perches. Perches in. Details on the new slide up backs. 1st breeding cage on the fit out bench Both on the bench ready for fit out. okay here I am working my poor old fingers to the bone. :dbb1:
  8. Also be careful of cinnamons and opalines, they can take over your flock. You end up with Cinnamon Opaline ..every things.
  9. Daz replied to **KAZ**'s topic in Aviaries
Going to love to see the progress Kaz.
  10. Daz replied to Daz's topic in Cage Discussion
Same as before Kaz or do you want me to change anything? I now have a new router with all the bits so the slides will be perfect.
  11. I would pair the Grey green normal cock to the Grey Cinnamon Normal Hen. The out come will be normal hens and split cocks. If you get an opaline, cinnamon or ino hen you know what the cock is split to.
  12. I like them around the 50 to 60 grams but having said that a show bird can be too fat. (Don't confused with Big) I big bird can weigh up to 150grams and stand 265mm long. (top of crown to tip of tail)
  13. Hens like to chew at things when they are coming in to season. Nest boxes are just one thing they will chew. I use 9mm cd ply for my boxes. It is durable and can with stan d a couple of seasons. I don't recommend MDF or Chip board. MDF is poisonous to us let alone the birds.

I have just finished 10 nest boxes for another breeder and have started two more triple cages for another sale. Photos to come.
  15. coccidiosis is a full course. Karen can tell you about that. What is trimidine? Is it an antibiotic or a fungicide? I'll goggle it to see what is comes up with. It's a sulphure base Antibiotic.Information on it.

Or the cock is split cinnamon and the chicks are cinnamon. How old are the chicks. *** Remember the golden rule... hens can't be split for a sex gene ***
  17. Glad to see you on the right side of the problem. Any word on what is was or what could prevent it?

Hi Tricky we at PRBS are very strict you only need to love budgies to be a member. We have members that don't own budgies but are still interested in them. We have a meeting on the 27th August. There will be a table show and a discussion on Crested. You are invited. Pine Rivers Budgerigar Society Inc - Web Site. < Have a look.
  19. The 1000x is an oil immersion lens you have to place a drop of oil under the lens on top of the slide.
  20. I have 400x optical and 800x on the camera to the laptop. You can still recognise most problems. If you go to 1000x you need an oil lens. Also there is a great book from ABK called Under the Microscope by Dr Danny Brown
  21. This is why you need a protection authority like the RSPCA. People like that give the good breeders a bad name. We spend a lot of money making sure our birds are fit. I have a number of people asking to buy my birds but I don't want to sell them at the moment. I have a few that will be going. As I explained to one person today, I am not in the hobbie to sell birds but to breed strong healthy birds for the show table. Having to sell the birds is unfortunate for me to comply with the council regulations. The good thing is that I am monitored by the council.
  22. Sounds promising
  23. The violet gene is carried on the dark factor genes. You will need to test breed to be sure of what gene it is on. You may need to test breed a couple of times to get the results. Thanks for the link Nerwen.. Brings back memories You have a grey wing skyblue cock. In the second poicture he is with an opaline skyblue cock.
  24. Grey Cheek patch - grey green bird
