An Albino is also a double wammy. It is a blue lutino. One gene removes the blue to produce yellow and the other gene removes the yellow to form white.
  2. i loved it.....come on every birdy....chocolate.... .....chocolate
  3. Guys. We love your questions about budgies. We love them so much that we did a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question ) section. If we don't have a topic in the section, ask and we will put it up. F.A.Q. Section
  4. Hi Jess and welcome to the forums. You have asked a couple of questions that go through a lot of owners mind. The tail bobbing could be a sign of laboured breathing. Is she still doing it? Can you heard any clicking sound with her breathing. Is she having trouble breathing. By now you should know. If she is moulting, she will be doing a lot of preening. The pin feathers that you see can get itchy and will need her to give them the attention that they need. What ever you do, don't try to remove the outer coating on the pin feathers to hurry the process. She is quite capible of doing that herself. Mites and lice are small insects that infest the bird. You maybe able to see them if you open her wing up to a strong light. Like a Doctor reading an Xray. You will see them as small black dots on the flight feathers. (the long feathers at the end of the wing) If you see them, then take action. Small mites can burrow into her cere and the side of her beak and cause a condition called Scaly Face. You will notice them. There are solutions to help. Yes there is preventive medicine that can help. Probotic that can be bought from your vet is a good way to keep her digestive system working well. We should all be taking probotics for our system. I do. Other wise just common sence will help. Budgerigars are like us. They don't like changes in temperature. very hot to cold or visa versa. Keep out of drafts and away from chemicals. There are plants that are harmful. ..........and if in doubt ask on the forum. We are always ready to help out. You can find some more information, including a list of harmful plants in other sections of this forum or on my website. HERE
  5. I worm every three months. But I think I'll check when the last time was.
  6. I agree with Bea Clagged Vents Dr John R. Baker The Liverpool University Budgerigar Ailment Research Project, sponsored by the Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales including the Isle of Man Budgerigar Society, was started in 1984 and ran for 8 years. In 1990-1 it was decided that we would investigate the condition of clagged vents in which large amounts of droppings accumulate around the vent and eventually block it and the bird then dies of an accumulation of waste products in the body. Unfortunately on this occasion the fancy let the research project down and the number of samples provided meant that only provisional results could be obtained. While several causes of the condition were found it was predominantly due either to kidney disease or to malfunctioning of the lower part of the bowel. As yet nothing can be done for the former, which frequently rights itself if the vent is kept clear of obstructions. In some circumstances the latter is treatable. And are you thnking at any stage to join all three into a majestic aviary
  9. No you can get them at the pet store. I think I paid about $8au and it lasts for weeks. Just get a small bottle.
  10. are all greys big budgies? cause the breeder i brought my budgie off had a massive grey budgie who could have almost been as big as a cockatiel (or bigger, he was huge!) or is it that alot of grey budgies are english budgies? No not all Greys are big like not all recessed pieds are small.
  11. Napoleon is very pretty. A Yellow face Sky Blue Clearwing. Try getting some antibiotic and try him on that for 1 week and see how the dirty bottom goes. It always conserns me as I lost cinnamon with a liver problem. She had a dirty vent as well.
  12. Thats what is so exciting about breeding.. You really don't know what is going to be thrown back up in a split.
  13. Duey (and huey) were bought in. No history. This will be interesting? I love a surprise. Just put through the computer. 50% Cock - Normal Green, Split Cinnamon, Split Recessive Pied, Split Skyblue 50% Hen - Normal Green, Split Recessive Pied, Split Skyblue Interesting

Thats sounds like a good idea. What you should find is the hen should start investigating the nest box within a week of being set. she will start to spend more and more time each day in the nest box before the eggs are laid. If she doesn't seem interested in the nest box it maybe that she is out of condition, the male is not suitable or she just doesn't want to breed. Here cere should be just starting to turn brown or is brown If her cere is not like this, she is not in condition. Give her a rest for a while and try again. Spangle's first attempt was a no show. I rested her for a month and tried again. she was laying with in 9 days. and had two clutches. Greeny was the same. Her first attemp with Duey was no go. She was rested two weeks and laid at 7 days. She has 5 eggs with the first to hatch next week.
  15. Thanks for that Nerwen, so a cinnamon.. **Daz writed note to himself... Change Greeny's genotype from greywing to cinnomin ** Nerwen, Cinnamon is a sexlinked mutation isn't it. What is the outcome if mated to a recessive colbalt cock?
  16. If you can get more photos. One of the side of the head. His Back and His front would be good.
  17. Daz replied to a post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
I would look at removing them and give them a break of about two weeks before retrying them.

Same here. My attempt at making a playgym failed miserably. I gave up before I started and bought one...

    Very Nice.
  20. If you try a siringe and are not expert with it, you could force the water into the lungs and drown the bird.
  21. Nerwen I'm at work at the moment. Is the cinamon only with brown wings or are there more to the mutation? I know the dilut (greywings) have brown wings and there is also an Australian Brown wing? Wish i had my book
  22. *cough* No such thing. She is either one or the other not both at the same time. but she look closer to cinnamon to me then greywing. ...Sorry just being playful. Nerwen I would say greywing. all the black pigmentation is diluted to brown. I'll try to get a better shot of her.
