A New Begining
Thanks Hath. I am lucky in the fact that at the moment I am in no hurry, I know it takes time. I am looking forward to learning and experiencing the shows. I have learnt in life that a good dinner takes time to prepare.

A New Begining
I was hoping to get maybe 2 females the Male was a bonus. I like the names Nerwen. The yellow face type II can be crystal. The two Sky Blues will be paired first. They are all in Quarintine. The two sky blues can be in quarentine togeather in a breeding cage. The three of them came from the same flight. I will pair Ash to the yellowface when she comes out of quarentine in 45 days. Jet is the name my wife just picked Thanks Hath. I have some good help here directing me how to do this but any advice is truely welcome.

Routines
Birds like geting into a routine. When am I going to get feed and watered and where is my treat. Here is my daily routine with my birds. Week Days. 5:30am Time to change the water. everyone get fresh water, On a four week cycle they get clean water 1st & 3rd week, probotics the second and apple cyder vinague the forth. Anitbiotics every 3 months with a worming every 6 months. All seed pots are seived to get rid of husks and dusk. Then topped up. I used a general budgie mix from Golden Cob. It is specialy made up at the produce store. (The owner is a breeder) 1 teaspoon of Cod liver oil and wheat germ oil is mixed into 400 grams of seed and left for 24 hours to soak in. Breeding cages with Chicks get new Millet sprays. They are gone in a few hours. Snow pea sprouts, Sprouted mung bean, pea and lentels, either grated carrot or fresh sweet corn off the cob is mixted with 2 grams of multi vitamin and protien additives and served in individual plates. (note i stop the multi vitamin in weeks that a have the liquid vitamins.) A mixture of 1 tablespoon of Budgie starter and 2 table spoons of Egg & biscuit is mixed and is feed in separate dishes to each breeding pair. Also a table spoon of Huled Oats is given separate to each breeding pair. The birds in the flight get huled oats twice a week. The birds are checked for problems. Nest boxes with chicks over 15 days old have the wood shavings replaced every three days and as they get older every two days. (I leave the wood shaving out to air for 48 hours before using it and all dust is blown away) 6:15am I have breakfast. 10am What is left of the fresh food is removed. The birds are rechecked for problems. 5pm All dishes are removed and washed ready for the morning. Nest boxes with 24 day old chick recieve a fresh millet spray to help teach the chicks to crack seed. The birds are rechecked for problems again. Breeding Cages are cleaned twice weekly and the flight every week end. The flight is disinfected every 3 months. The nest boxes are disinfected between rounds and the cages after I change the pairs. Each week the flight recieves a gum tree branch which is removed by wednesday. The birds are checked and weighed when they are paired and after breeding. They get "Dunked" for lice at the beginning of Spring and Autum. ...and reweighed. All records of weight and problems are recorded on my computer. Any major or worrying problems are refered to a vet. I spend a relaxing time sitting and watching my birds as I have Breakfast (in Summer) and in the afternoon. That is basically my routine.

A New Begining
Guys I just recieved a start from one of the members in the club. Three new show birds. They aren't winners but will help start me with breeding to show. Ash will be joining them as a member of the show flock. Ash 72 grams Male Unnamed ???? 74 grams Female Unnamed ??? 66 grams Female Unnamed ???? 64 grams Lin the Male is from a breeder in Perth. All my birds will be treated equily well but these guys will start breeding for Show. I have two dual breeding boxes coming on Friday. If I said I was excited it would be an understatement. Hath, Please give me your thoughts. Adam the first female is ring PR 1G -4 126 The Female is from the same stable won last year's Nationals. Don't think there is a relationship though.

Hear We Go Again
Well Greeny has started again. First laid 22nd February the last today. one everyother day. we are up to 7 eggs. I wish I had some more pairs down I could foster them out. I candled them last night and found 2 out 3 where fertile. the other 3 where too young. I realised from the last clutch that Greeny must be split to recessive pied. I got all recessive pied when mated to a recessive pied. The only way to get them is to mate recessive to recessive or recessive to normal/recessive. As Duey is a recessive pied, greeny must be split. How did I go Nerwen? http://www.home.gil.com.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/Greeny.jpg Greeny http://www.home.gil.com.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/Duey.jpg Duey The Recessive Pied Pairings and Expectations Recessive Pied × Recessive Pied = Recessive Pied Recessive Pied × Normal/Recessive Pied = Normal/Recessive Pied & Recessive Pied Recessive Pied × Normal = Normal/Recessive Pied Normal/Recessive Pied × Normal = Normal/Recessive Pied & Normal Normal/Recessive Pied × Normal/Recessive Pied = Recessive Pied & Normal/Recessive Pied & Normal Normal × Recessive Pied = Normal/Recessive Pied cocks & Normal/Recessive Pied hens
