Yes I say that was the flash. It was taken after a long day doing the shed and then mowing the lawns. I was siting bak in the pergola have a "cold one" when the birds started playing. I had the camera next to me saw I set the flash and zoomed in from 4 meters. Snowy's cere is pink with no nassle rings. Chime has the nassle rings. I might try to get a good shot of them before they go into the new aviary.
  4. Great shots... Beatiful birds. Looks like Daffodil is a type II yellow face. I see the blue tinge on her feathers. Wylie looks like a type II yellowface cinnamon. Am I right

Update: Sorry guys a bit of a hold up. Concrete slab that was laid for the new shed was too small. Took the concreter three week to fix his mistake. Shed finished and old shed emptied cleaned and sprayed for insects. Windows cut in front and back. The sharp edges are than lines with Aluminium channel to finish the holes off and stop budgie cutting themselves (and owner) on the sharpp edges. And than the wire is put in. Didn't have enough aluminium angle to finish the back window...... ......to be continued........ ....next epasode.. Finish back window and start in the internal frame for the flight. Put in wire. Cut through into the existing flight to join into one. Builded cupboards to put breeding cages on. Move breeding cages in....

  8. well....yes I asked why they didn't have a website? and the answer is that are better at breeding budgies than techniqual stuff like websites. They said they would love one but didn't know how to do it. So.... I said I could help. I am waiting to get information from them and photos to put up. But it's a start. :budgiedance:

I have been asked to put up a web site by my club. Web Site link
  10. My Club. Pine Rivers Budgerigar Society
  11. Thanks Budgiebird I think I will try to add that one to my library
  12. Shawna a lot of that is true but Budgerigars have grown up with humans, we are part of their existance. That is why it is so easy to train them. (I say easy in relation to other animals)

Lucky you well done... To clean it, do a general clean with a good cleaner. Then attend to any rust spots will some Steel Wool. Take the rust spots back to bare metal. Wipe over the cage with a disinfectant and wait till it completly drys. Spray with some fish oil. (yes it will stink) Wait till dry (it will be tacky) Then give the whole cage a coat of non toxic paint. Points to remember with a second hand cage. You don't know what was in it before. You don't know if the bird died in it You don't know what the bird died of. Rust is posinous to budgies. So give a good clean disinfect and coat of paint. Oh the fish oil will stop the rust from coming back
  14. I would put some sawdust in,and if the hen doesn't like it she will throw it out. ummm harry thats what she is doing... jenene283 as hath surgests leave it as is until she has a few clutches.
  15. Budgie Bird mark those two as foster parents and good feeders... you may need their sevices in the future.
  16. una cracked eggs can be saved. use some PVC glue that the wood workers use and glue a piece of old egg shell over the crack. You can save the chick. If the egg is close to 18 days and you can't see through it. It might be best to wait. Eggs can take up to 25 day to hatch. Depending on the hens activities during the incubation time.
  17. Daz replied to **KAZ**'s topic in Breeding Tips
I do not suggest this during the egg laying process. By the time the egg is due to hatch it requires a certain percentage of moisture to be removed from the egg. THe hen constantly adjusts the humidity in the nest to allow for this. If you are going to use moist nesting material you could end up with many dead in shell chicks. This breeder must be experienced enought to know what he is doing.
  18. Jet I don't know his back ground his phenotype is Sky Blue Cock Bluebell I do know. phenotype is Cinnamon Sky Blue Hen Dad was Yellowface Skyblue/Cinnamon Mum was Skyblue Dad's Dad was Yellowface Skyblue Dad's Mum was Cinnamon Skyblue Mum's Dad was Cinnamon Skyblue Mum's Mum was Dominant Pied Skyblue What would the chicks be????
  19. .... the only problem with that is you can get a blue grey. What do you do for that one? When you breed greys you can get Greens, Blues, Grey Greens and Greys. The only time you don't get this variety is when pairing two DF Greys. You get Greys.
  20. Budgiebird let us know tomorrow how he is going.
  21. Daz replied to Shann's topic in Breeders Discussion
Shann are you colony breeding (nest boxes togeather in the aviary) or closed breeding (each pair in there own cage with a nest box)? You have so much trouble in colony breeding with other females attaching eggs and chicks.
  22. Interesting. I put up Ash and Crystal. Ash is a SF Grey Crystal is a type I sky blue. I got this ? 1.0 grey(sf) green cinnamon x 0.1 blueII % from all 1.0 50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green /blueII cinnamon 50.0% 1.0 green /blueII cinnamon % from all 0.1 50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green cinnamon /blueII 50.0% 0.1 green cinnamon /blueII Calculated on 17 Mar 2006 03:46:53 , Prague blue II is a type I Sky blue (Yellowface Skyblue) Nerwen notice the cock Green split to Yellowface Split to Cinnamin. Thats what I worked out. The wild gene still plays a part. - Interesting.
  23. Karens right........just keep any eye on it. But it should be okay.
  24. I agree with Hath. I add shavings before I set up the birds. They are accustomed to it. Give a good next time. The only problem you will have is the babys will get messy with their own droppings. You will have to try to keep them clean.
  25. Use an insecticde that is okay for birds... You can apply baby oil to the feet legs and cere to prevent this reacuring.
