  1. okay yes be worried. Firstly are you realy to hand feed the chick, do you have a hand raiseing mixture, if so start to read the instructions for a newly hatched chick and get an eye dropper and start feeding him. If you don't have hand rearing mix mix egg and bisciut very very dilutely with warm milk (not hot). get an eye dropper and start giving small dropps of mixture to the beak. he will eat it. If you don't have egg and biscuit use milk and glucose. If you don't have glucose just use warm milk. As you feed him you will see that his crop will fill. Keep feeding him until he either takes no more or his crop looks full. Feed every hour until the mother gets the idea and starts to feed him. Hopefully it won't take long. If he is calling for full, that worries me because it should stimulate the hen into feeding him. This mix will give him strength, but you will need to get him onto the proper formular by tomorrow morning. Good luck and let us know how you go.

Hi Alan... can't help bad luck. There was a good roll up and quite a number of birds. We have a new web site Pine Rivers budgerigar Society There is information regarding the next meeting and events through the year. Hope to see you there.
  3. There is definately spangle there. Spangle Cheek markings are discribed as Violet Suffussion Silver tolerated. which means Violet with silver edges...i think. I would say a yellowfaced opaline skyblue spangle. Nerwen your thoughts ?????
  4. thanks Budgie bird that one I didn't know.... I still stay clear from MDF but you have me thinking about the ply wood now.
  5. Just make sure they are not made of MDF. (medium density fibre) This is poisonous even to us.

Alan if you are having trouble with Butcher Birds you will have to put up double wire on the aviary. Space it abour 25mm between the layers. The Butchers can pull the smaller budgies through the wire or at least try to. As to deter them ... I don't know. :bluebudgie:

Shawna from those photos I believe they are YF1 type 1 Here is a type II A type II has a "Bleed" that changes the blue to a green. In fact Chime here is a golden Face the yeloow is more buttercup. But it will give you an example.

yep it looks like it. As nerwen said get him to an aviarian vet and while you are wiating give his cere and feet and legs a wipe with some baby oil. The mites hate it and it won't hurt him. :bluebudgie:

Sorry about the Double post but it is 99% finished.... Night Shot.. Been working on it all day. Side Shot...Half the shed is the flight the other half will be the Breeding room I cut through the back of the original flight to double the size. From a different angle. Left is the internal flight...right will be the breeding boxes.. Looking through into the old flight from the new. From a different angle..... All I need is to set up the perches.. tomorrow's job. The holders are in just got to go bush to find some gum branches. Oh and for those that don't have pets... Here is Queenslands most well known hated tourest.. The Cane Toad. They poison the water and eat the feed.... wheres my 2 wood... anyone for golf!
  18. Sorry all okay to get recessed Chicks from a mating of Recessed and Normal the normal must be split to recessed. So the Cinnamonwing is split to recessed pied. If we cross a normal/recessed x Recessed pied We should get 50% Normal/recessed pieds and 50% Recessed Pieds. As the female is a cinnamon wing We should get cocks that are split to cinnamon and normal hens. So unless the Recessed pied is split to Cinnamon we shouldn't get Cinnamon Hens...... But this is Phoebe. A female from the first clutch.... A Cinnamonwing recessed pied... The male was split to cinnamon. So the final out come should be Cinnamon Reccessed Pied Hens Well I have 5 chicks from that pair. The oldest is 17 days with the youngest being 8 days. The oldest is a recessed pied. so is the next oldest but the others I am not sure of...yet Oh the possible outcome 25% - Cinnamon, Recessive Pied, Split Blue 25% - Recessive Pied, Split Cinnamon, Split Blue 25% - Cinnamon, Split Recessive Pied, Split Blue 25% - Normal Green, Split Cinnamon, Split Recessive Pied, Split Blue
