Breeding Time
Yes they have a long body, very tall and thin. (Coffee Pot, Hath ) The young spangle is certainly marking up this morning But no colouring yet. S/He is now 23 days so I should be geting colour soon. I don't know the back ground of the parents both are Spangle Grey Greens. You can't get an Albino Spangle that is maked. He is the one that I found flapping on the floor in what I thought was a death flap. But he came good. He does it ocational. When he does it he can't stand on his perch he keep falling off. This has been going on for a few months now. Lately his right foot looks like he can't use it. Can't grip the perch. () Photos taken this morning. He is holding on the perch fine. The hen has now laid 5 eggs of her 2nd clutch. 1 is missing but the others look to be fertile. This will be her last clutch as just raising 6 chicks is a big ask for both of them. If she lays more eggs i'll foster them. Two of his chicks in the nursary, Both Hens left Opaline lt green, right Opaline Spangle. Nerwen There is a classs for Opaline spangles. In fect this time next week hopefully both of these birds will be on the show bench as Nestfeathers.

Newest Budgie...what Colour?
The photo is blurred to me Kirby. I think reseccive pied because of the lower banding of blue. There are no banding at the back of the eye that I can see. Wings are too blurry for me to tell. Sorry She could have a dilute gene stronger than greywing.

Yes Budgies can store sperm but as Nerwen said only for a few days. Some breeders that have mixed aviaries. Place the hen in the breeding cage for a week before introducing the cock to make sure the eggs are his.

Now Tiki Is Sick Too!
Bea I am so sorry. . It might be a good idea to ring the vet tomorrow and see if yoy can do something about the rest of the birds.

Now Tiki Is Sick Too!
Bea with two being sick, it might pay to find out if you can treat the rest of the birds. Also find out how this illness is transmited and address the problem.

Hard Crop? Need Help
Dingo I did some investigation. If he has a hard crop it means that the level of crop milk in the feed is low. Now depending on how old the chick is, it might be okay. I just lost an eight day old chick due to the same thing. It can occur when the hen is feeding older chicks and doesn't change the formular for the younger ones. What will happen is that the chick dies from malnutrition even though the hen is feed it. The young chick just can not absorb the nutrients in the feed. Three things you can do. Take over feeding the chick with the proper mixture. Foster the chick to a pair that has chicks around it's age and hope they accept it. Do Nothing and hope that the chick survives. Let us know what happens.
