  1. Excellent Trish!! My wife is really into this sort of stuff and she has some amazing software that I've never played with before. I think this could become addictive! :hap:
  2. Hey that'd be a great idea for a comp, see who can do the best special effect!! Here's my Andy Waholesque attempt :hap:

I dont totally agree with this. I have bought 100+ birds in the last 3 months from all different breeders. All open class breeders except 1 or 2. I didnt quarantine any of these birds and have not lost one bird. All of the birds are all down on eggs, breeding and are all very active and healthy. if you buy from breeders who look after there birds you shouldnt have too much problem. My birds are kept in a very clean environment to ensure they are kept healthy as possible. Yeah that's what I was hoping as Ozzie and Ernie are siblings from 2 consecutive clutches. Liv said if it hadn't been for the WA birds she would have advised me not to worry about the quarentine, but just in case the WA birds brought something in and it transfered to Ozzy, I'll go the distance as per their advice. It would be just my luck if I shortcut the quarentine something would go wrong. We actualy intend to keep them seperate anyway to help with the taming, but will let them play together on occasions.
  4. Not 19 Dave ???????????????????????? Try 22 and more to come ???   Today was a good day and the birds you brought home were outstanding. 5. You need to do a course to go scuba diving, but you don't to go snorkeling. Its a whole different world down there Jimmy, give it a shot, you'll love it. Just remember you're no longer on the top of the food chain though!

Everytime I walk past Ernie he puts his wings up, almost like he's stretching them. What does that mean?? I've started saying "Hands Up!!" as I walk past him and everyone thinks I have him really well trained. (but he does it anyway )

As per usual Adelaide is perfect!! 26 degrees c(78.8 degrees f) and not a cloud in the sky and a gentle southeasterly blowing.

Yes it does!! I bags'ed 2 of Liv's birds successfully so far. Liv, they look great, I can't wait to see some of the offspring. Off topic... If your WA birds are all healthy, can i shortcut Ozzy's and Ernie's quarentine?
  12. NOPE!! I'll leave that one to Brez!
  13. Yep, the last time I went scuba diving was on a charter out of Hillary's marina in Sorrento. Theres an aquarium there too, they tried to talk me into diving with the sharks there... Didn't happen!!
  14. Are those marina shots at Sorento?
  15. Wow, don't the flying flocks look amazing, like some ethereal alien being!
  16. Cheers all, just to let you know he's back in the normal cage and looking completely better. Looks like he was weak from not being able to feed himself, but today had eaten a considerable amount of millet from one of Ernie & Ozzy's millet sprays and some diced apple while he was in the hospital cage. The only problem is, when he's healthy he's really hard to catch so its going to be task to keep it trimmed. I must admit it was comforting to know exactly what to do at each stage. I think I even made the boys feel reassured that he was in good hands. Cheers Dr Phil
  17. Thanks Kaz, I knew that but unfortunately all we have is peppercorns in a grinder, so I went for the four instead. Its on the list to buy though.
  18. One of our Zebra finches was sitting in the base of its cage last night and when i opened the door it didn't move. So... I put it inside in a hospital cage with a 40 watt light over it (although turned the light off as it was warm enough) I noticed it's lower beak was protruding much past its upper beak, so after reading Liv's post on kitch I knew to trim it. I looked up how to do this on a finch site. Unfortunately to get it back even close to the upper beak, it started to bleed, so I got the flour and stopped the bleeding, again info from this site. Anyway about an hour or so after surgery it was feeding itself quite happily and this morning looks as if its back to its old self. It will stay in hostpital today, but if it look okay tonight I'll put it back with the others. Thanks for all the great info on here, hopefully you may have saved a life!!
  19. Its sad, but I love that second photo!!

  23. "Chase away sharks!!" I think I'd let them take the fish! Many years ago a group of us were spear fishing in a bay at the bottom of York Peninsula. Our girlfiends at the time were sitting on some rocks overlooking the bay, so we just swam up to the rocks and held our spears up and they took the fish ready for a beachside BBQ that night. Little did we know that they were gutting them there and then and throwing the waste straight back to sea. My mate went up there for some reason and saw what they were doing and then saw a dorsal fin glide between the rocks and me and another mate still out there. He "politely" asked the girls to stop attracting sharks and then dived in and swam out to us and we made a very speedy retreat. A couple of years later Michele and I asked him to be the best man at our wedding. You can't buy mateship like that!!
  24. Hehe, Beaker from the muppets!!
  25. I don't know why, but for some reason he reminds me of "Dexter"
