Omelette.....my Foundation Hen
this is the belief of Avalon Apple trees symbolize magic, youth, beauty and happiness. The apple has long been associated with the symbolism of immortality what i named my aviary after ...read below s-c its also in my web sight explaining why i named my stud Avalon house Avalon is from a Celtic word meaning 'apple.' The apple-tree is a Celtic Tree of Life, the upholder of the Worlds above and below, the source of all spiritual sustenance. In Irish tales, it grows upon an Otherworld island and bears the fruit of immortality which emits a heavenly fragrance, able to satisfy all hunger, heal all ills, and yet always remains whole. Avalon is the Inner Temple of the Celtic and British Mysteries, a landscape of the soul, a country of the heart. It is the land which the poet and mystic see in vision, where the artist and musician find inspiration; where the soul goes for healing and spiritual refreshment: a timeless land of power and mystery that offers initiation and enlightenment to all those that embark upon the inner voyage. Avalon does not exist in the dimensions of time and space. It lies within the Otherworld, a place that the Celts have always taught us exists now and always, nowhere and everywhere, in the ‘thin’ places of the landscape, within the cracks of everyday life. As an archetype, or blueprint, of cosmic order and harmony, it distills the qualities of power, beauty and wisdom, sorely needed in our world today. kaz im so so sorry to hear this i just seen this thread she was a beautie why dont you plant a egg plant in the pot to represent her fertility and abundant eggs as when you think egg you think of omelet well i do anyhow , either that or a roes tree minni varierty as their beautiful as was she

Help With Mutation Please
TCB does not remove markings. It alters markings that exist on the bird. At first look it is obvious the bird is pied. Then due to lack of other 'visual markers' it becomes a guessing game as to what else is there. This is were experience with variety combinations comes into it. If the parents of the bird had not been put up I wonder how many on this forum, including myself, would have picked up the different mutations in this bird. As I have already said the pied was obvious and given the fact it is a baby one would have to wait till it is moults for the iris ring to develop, or not. The grizzling effect on the feathers can be the result of a couple of mutations but again unless you are familiar with them and their consequences in action with others one cannot begin to even have a clue. Sometimes some combos are just plan hard to see. Example being Cinnamon Fallows looking almost exactly like Lacewings. There is such a subtle difference that it can be missed almost entirely by anybody, myself and judges included. I have two such birds. Remove or alter is just getting technical over words for no reason. The TCB gene is Par-ino which blocks the blue from the bird in some areas of the birds body. A agree to the fact the parents where shown it helped rule out any mutations that could have been brought forth if the baby was shown alone. i actually enjoy learning the finner tech side of things i belive it is important to get corect info as it is true its not removed it is only altered so why not say it how it is the blue is not blocked as such it is just altered as with par ino altered not removed i say tecnical is needed to learn the true understanding of the varierty but admit i still have NO CLUE

Injured Hen
I agree :emoticon112: I'm happy for both of you that your hens are better! And especially that Kaz did not put hers down when she might have done. (Now if only there was an emoticon for "Whew! That was close!") kaz would only do that if bird was in pain this hen was not in pain their for as it was eatting drinking pooing fine she would have persisted in finding a solution unless bird deteriorated or was in pain im sure of that however their is a limit of time a bird can be in this state before it needs to be put down

lol you teaser shannon- Yellow Belly?
and and Now................in colony breeding sometimes other birds will stop a mother or father from going to their own nest to feed their chicks. This results in dead chicks, whether its not being fed or being cold because the parents are stopped from returning to the nest and keeping their chicks warm at night. I suggest if you want to colony breed you must be home all day to watch and care for them and circumvent any things that go wrong. You go to school and maybe just maybe check morning and night ( although you have admitted to not doing that due to weather ? or busy ? ) You defend colony breeding but you have not gone the extra steps to protect the heirarchy in there and to check more often once you had chicks. im sorry but i have to back you up here kaz one hundred percent but saying that i still only want to help you work out why chicks dieing you say i only have two pairs but thats one more than their should be all birds could be not feeding well as they to scarred to leave nest which ive said many times also you said you took chick out yet otherday you said you left chick in didnt take it out as yet i think as kaz does your **** covering to try look responsible honesty is best policy mate to be honest about our mistakes and mis haps we learn from them to cover our mistakes to me says we do not listen we just let it travel in one ear out the other i know best kind of altitude hey i am not perfict **** i am far from but i listen and take aboard what im told and if i look stupid or dumb while im learning well so what as i know better now and its me whom needs to care not others so learn admit and learn double as if you cover we can not help to true potential- Sex Of My First Budgie

GB, TCB do not have red eyes. They are exactly the same as in a Normal. lol and im about to start breeding them    looks like i best go read up on my next venture  i dont believe i never realized that im sure mine has red eyes :hmm: oh well sorry for confussing people with very wrong info mm splat if you read this i also noticed pt conferm i was totally off mark with what i said on your thread too about clearbodys m maybe ill skip the clearbody breeding for now- Yellow Belly?
Rain or not Squeak...........you should be checking nestboxes morning and night when chicks are due. If this was cabinet breeding you would be checking more often and rain would not have entered into the picture Updates ?? Sorry kaz, forgot to post. I am sure if you saw our place now though, you would agree. I wore gumboots out there today to check, even then I got wet to the skin. . Has been raining again today, showing no chances of stopping, but I had to check on the birds. But, No more chicks in that nest hatched, but the other nest had one dead chick. It doesnt look like yellow belly, I think it may not have been fed. The other two chicks got there beaks cleaned, and their nails (the hen keeps a very messy nest). I am lucky enough for that aviary not to have water in it, but I waded through a stream to get to it lol. okay im just going to shut up as you always change your mind before you said chick was not fed now you say they both were also said no more new chick but now this is diffrent chick that looked like it died from no food but had full crop im only trying to grasp things to help you if you do have chicks left in over night i dont really care but im just trying to explain what damage this can cause also if chicks dieing but are feed then mabe mums both gone out condition 'it happened to me recently i let birds do second round but they were starting to molt and being in nest i didnt notice i lost chicks myself 7 of them i save rest as soon as they hatched i put under fosters then took mum n dad out and left them in a resting cage with extra vits and mins for few weeks so not picking just want to help you- Yellow Belly?
as soon as you see a dead chick or a dis you should remove as your leaving a higher risk of oter eggs or hatching's getting contaminated by illness chicks become rotten very fast to leave one in box is just silly you dont know how long it was their in first place and with in few hours it would be rotten inside turning out attract flys extra s-q you need to be fully in this even if its a colant they need same care as cabinets maybe more given the extra watchful eye you need to keep tripple c is great but only medicate if they need it probotic and minerals for a while may be good idea posably mums are not leaving nests to feed so no crop milk to fed new hatched chick spesh if they worryed about other hens around Rain or not Squeak...........you should be checking nestboxes morning and night when chicks are due. If this was cabinet breeding you would be checking more often and rain would not have entered into the picture Updates ??Sorry kaz, forgot to post.
