  1. i was not saying you dont know your birds kaz i know you do but i tryed to say what nubbly said its all in the cheek patches tail quills and feet when in doubt cheek them out ! seems sometimes though i waste my time trying to point things out maybe you do need to be a well established breeder on this forum to be listened too after all clearly no one was going to take my word as valued or correct information its definitely made my mind up not to bother par- taking in any topics of people questioning a birds variety again
  2. omg i was all right holding face till that poor little dog tryed to sit on his /her bed what bed a rotten worn out canvas bed i lost it tears everywhere :{ sad thing is unless these people have all dogs removed and not allowed to own them this will keep being an issue if deziner puppys were good then they would of been a breed in the first place i have a cav i was offered a cavoodle but im against deliberate breeding of two breeds yes theirs muts out their and accidents happen them dogs i can live with but deliberate breeding of two breeds to achieve a certain look im not for to improve a dog for a true valued reason all so okay but for cuteness or hair loss factor no sorry not for it ps i didnt realize we had puppy mills im actually very sadden i thought Victorians animal protection laws were better than that
  3. thank you finally someone whom knows a birds variety by its true identification factors wheres that rabbit banging its head on the wall gone as omg ....... birds have classifications for reasons and im yet to ever see a spangle of any variety with plain white cheeks only df spangles albinos and lutinos off top of my head have white cheek patches the ones with violet through them in lutes and albinos are spangle lutes or albinos
  4. i two would do this but ...if you have not breed this pair before or the eggs were not fertile bar the one id actually let them raise the chick sometimes this helps them come into breeding condition better egg fertility rate second round however if they seem like one round would do them id foster chick as kaz said and let them start again
  5. i think if your willing to keep him inside than may help him get through the colder months hes older now and if hes tame maybe he would enjoy your company more than the birds so tame birds think they are people so never really adjust back to the aviary fully however im sure he would be okay where he is as well tis truly your decision
  6. okay well that blue pied is a spangle dom pied so what was mum ?? you know that dont you and dad wasnt he the one in the middle of that old picture with the cinnamon grey green dom pied hen ??? or not if not can you just tell me from start no pics what was mum of the violet bird and dad just colours and if you know their variety ?
  7. well i feel better about it all now i must say nubbly 5 you put it well and hearing others imput that have been their n done it helps and well i had a change of heart i took some birds to club selection and got three in so nothing to write home about but i will say that my birds weren't just gap fillers as was quiet a few in the selected classes which makes me feel better - but not expecting to come close to the top 15 birds its big competition out their on the day and i feel this years going to be best birds for a while all over the state breeders have been improving in Victoria so clubs will all have some great birds in i feel good luck all of you all over Australia Go Victoria **** i seem to have splats virus hee hee
  8. oh that baby lol looks like a yf pied will be blue based i say pied as very faint touches of black on wings i could be wrong um im sorry i posted before you got me link lol um so now im really confussed i thiought you wanted to know what the violet was ??? i want to know what her mum n dad are then ill move on to her babys and their dad possability from what you have their i would say dad is the goldenface cobalt pied in the second picture though to the young chicks
  9. did you get any double factor spangles (all white or all green no markings)? Spangle is Dominant it only takes 1 parent to have it to get any Would it be possible that the mum is DF spangle with diffusion?? Perhaps she is not spangle at all and just the father was, if you look at the mum and imagine the violet to be darker(like mauve) that was one of the babies No at the time I had a crappy camera so coudlnt get clear photos, have a DSLR now so can take better photos, well that is the idea anyway im not the best photographer lol I cant do the father, he was killed by a hawk attack a few months ago(actually probably late last year), one day I left the netting off the front and had an attack! I have 2 babies I have kept, both violets, the others got culled to make room for some more birds. Actually I found an old picture that shows both(terribly but its all I have) Dad in middle, mum on RHS(you can see iris rings) picture of the two violet young http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/ab26/Kangaroodog/2010%20young/IMG_2491.jpg I have paired her to the cock in the picture below, he hasnt really shown any interest in a hen his whole life(he must be 3) any ideas on what they will throw? im sorry darl but can i ask which one is the mother of the baby in question of being a df spangle violet pied (which so far every one has said is just a cinnamon or a spangle pied what is the mother the grey green cinnamon pied hen shown with the yf cock bird also pied ?? if so the father from top picture is a yf blue bird and for the chick to be blue based mum must be /blue in relation to what she is i would need to see more pics of her frount back and both sides mug shots if you please to call them before i go making my comment as far as that other bird not related to you thats caused your thread to be hijacked (sorry bout that by way ) i really dont care what anyone thinks if its not a df spangle opaline then it is a type of pied no spangle no spangle at all has white cheek patches like that unless its either cinnamon which it is not or df spangle or as i said some type of pied be nice to have mug shots of it two but im guessing thats out the question um also what yellow baby i dont see no picture of a yellow baby ???
  10. RUDE MUCH?????? the bird is not a df spangle it is a spangle it is a yellow face and it sky blue and since its Sea green in color That makes it a type 2 yellow face I saw no Opaline - don't have to say I don't know much because I'm fairly certain I know a lot more than you think but I guess all my years of Studying mutations, and breeding my own birds and more studying on mutations makes me know nothing - Yet I'm the one every one on other forums goes to when they want to know what mutation they have, or random people online send me Emails wanting to know what they have in mutations, genders, what to pair theirs to to get certain mutations what they will get if they paired Bird X to bird Y and they refuse to ask any one else because They like MY KNOWLEDGE the best. Gee I guess I know something after all firstly reading does not always give you knowledge second i don't give two hoots what you think you know as i know myself from where and how i know what i do thirdly yes its a yf2 sky blue it is Opaline ,and it is spangle the fact that its got white cheek patches with out any purple is what concludes its a df spangle regardless of it not having any spangle marks as unless it was cinnamon which is impossible as its got blue feet so kaz im sorry but unless this is as i stated before some kind of pied which as its back is fully yellow possibly could be but doubt it then im going to say still it is very heavily marked df spangle yf2 opaline skyblue cock bird may the owner of this bird please inform us of this birds heritage if known if not please what do you believe it to be and why ??? also k and m you may tell people what you know but you are not always right and being they came here for help doesn't help the fact that they may listen to your misinformed information i do not claim to know it all and definitely am not trying to get a spot as best person to be informed by here on the forum either so im happy for you your so well liked good for you i dont need followers to know my birds thanks gb
  11. their is nothing wrong with your birds kim k n m breeding you have no right in pointing things you have no knowledge on the first picture its the light shining on the beak and the hen with out some toes thats not a issue shes healthy looking and clearly if their was an issue it would be noticed and dealt with the cock bird is just resting that way i think you need to think before you go attacking a new member about her flock even a freindly pm pointing these issues out would have been clearly nicer however these are not even concerns as their not their the birds you speak of are fine welcome kim you have a lovely flock
  12. I grew up not having to medicate animals much, just because we really only had cats, and growing up on a farm my mum's family never did any special with them as in worming etc. I am now learning about all the medicine's more, but I really only want to keep to the basic's, I don't want my birds to be surviving off drugs, I want my stud to be strong and healthy. Everyone euthanises different, this person used to be a nurse, so she just gets a needle and injects them. She prefers it this way, and so would I. Any animal in general is not savable until it is dead. An animal is savable until it give's up on itself. Once an animal is to far gone, they just shut their body down, no matter how hard you try. He has treatment for cocci in his water. I am not going to let this bird suffer any longer. And no, that last sentence is absolutely not true! I am very sad to say it was one of the bird's I got from you GB, and he was very special to me as he is partially tame and one of my better birds. I had big plans for him in my TCB line. You breed nice birds GB, and even though you can't see him proper, he is a good bird I would have used. I dont care what kind of animal it is, they are always worth trying to save. i was saying....or dont be bothered cause hes just a bird and a cock at that n nothing supper >>>>> thats what alot of people tell me but i always let the bird pass on its own unless its oviously passed eatting and is starving to death injecting a bird seems extream you need to know how to do it as if you dont it wont work and bird will suffer anyway im sure she you know whats best as i do know you have tryed to save few birds over time and keeping your stud medicated with preventitives although im like you and dont want to unless like me you keep learning the hard way is a must hun so three that are needed is canker 3 monthly cocci 3 monthly in wet and 6 months in dry weather doxy to any new bird brought in when its in quarantine for two weeks and full course if it seems it requires it oh i forgot worming with ivomectom which kills lice and worms ever 3 month one drop to back of neck
  13. yes to early wait at least a week 7 days
  14. i dont agree but can see pt so/....will leave to him
  15. no tools are needed squeak but i can imagine what you were told his savable till hes dead mate :} give him treatment give him a chance just keep him away from others for few months even if h recoops or dont be bothered cause hes just a bird and a cock at that n nothing supper >>>>>
  16. may i ask why your going to take his life if you have treatment now you should treat him but your bird and im sure you were told good advice and the reason is good and im happy you will now be maintaining a plan for your studs well being you only get out what you put in its costly but worth it in end id be asking how you could improve your flight set up was best thing i did questioning that and listening my birds are sitting at 15 deg nightly 10 my change in their flights been good all round even if i do prefer it be longer and wider its warm and draft free lots sun and dry floor your club will help you all you need darl you should ask their advice over ours they have you as a interest as your their new blood listen to them mate
  17. well i think you know more than km as i believe it is a yf sky blue df Opaline spangle if its not that then its only got one other option a clear flighted pied spangle but i dont know much either squeak so .....
  18. yes she could be weak and not want to go down to feed agree with maesie warm cage seed on floor or large open bowl water first thing first regain her strength
  19. theirs food everywhere in their he should have seed and water only nothing else that scaly is bad you can say it to yourself as much as u like it is bad though dont need clear picture to see that but scaly is fixable but tells me that you dont regularly worm ivomectom your flock ever three months is the time span between doses infact ive been told every two weeks withthe one that you buy ready made but im happy with three months as thats what vet told me other wize it lapses all chicks should be done when two weeks old then before realise into flock at no longer than 3 weeks he needs warmth towels wont do it and ventilation circulating put him in a show cage with nothing but seed on floor and water in their keep this in a warm room of no less that 27 deg 30 if poss youwont need to cover him then of find a lamp that gives heat near impossab;le these days but only seed in water okay then try get a clearer picture darl of mouth area (im not worryed about the scaley i want to see the area around his beak
  20. 4 mil you may of over feed him if he was eating also birds can vomit from being ovr fed like children do was he drinking lots can you get picture has he got blotted crop is he hunched or just fluffed looking up or head down is his crop hardened feeling and what poo looking like colour shape just put seed in and water watch him carefully is he actually cracking the seed and eating or cracking it and dropping the seed keep him warm but dont dehydrate him if anything gets cropped to him id give water around half a mil dont aspirate him though as its easy to do with water more so than food most ill birds die from being dehydrated really though a vet trip would be best may save your flock from a illness thats just starting to show in one or two birds unless hes drinking loads then id guess canker and treat for this first thing if drinking loads dont crop him water
  21. two many breeders give up on a hen thinking she eats eggs so is ruined i am very tolerant of these hens and have a very well working method to solve this issue with high success rate if you want to hear it let us know ill pm u and no its not filling egg with anything lol
  22. dont feed ill birds anything but seed and water if you want to try and find reason for illness i was told small amount of rasbery cordiel n squeeze lemmon off one the well known breeders and nothing more untill u can establish if its but a tummy bug or more if a tummy bug this will fix rather quickly if worse you will see other simptoms and be able to medicate as needed
