  1. the head in the middle kaz these chicks will be nice mate
  2. yes i almost brought one last week but the dude at the grain store said mabe i shouldnt as they for horses so he suggested the rock salt but then someone else said i didnt need it as i supply birds with iodione block charcoal block and cuttle fish bone so.... wouldnt hurt to add rock salt also though would it
  3. Just watch them in the future. There is no hard and fast rule about this......... some people say a plucked baby in the nest becomes a plucker itself...this is NOT TRUE. A hen may feel anxious over one clutch of babies and pluck and may be fine the next time. She may single out just one chick and be fine with the rest. I would watch them and be aware but I would not cull. However if the hen was the kind to scalp a baby I would not breed with her again and she may well be culled in a more permanent way. im hearing you thanks
  4. wow kaz keep eye on that grey wing it will have nice colour on body and wings will be lovley also the blue chick on right wow nice head wighth and feather direction
  5. Great news being a plucker kaz what do you do for future breeding of the hen ???? soz to ask question on your thread dave but wondered do you keep breeding them or no
  6. this is very good info renee i knew it was caused by inbalance but not from what i guessed iodine is that salt or what as i was going to introduce rock salt to my breeders cage but was told i didnt need to as iodine was salt is this so ?????
  7. yes this is right kaz good call i still thinking rainbows love rainbows
  8. AOSV excuse my stupidity but what is that ???? A class in showing................AOSV means any other standard varietyand OAOSV is opaline any other standard varietycool thanks now i wony look so silly at the club when they say all the hifan words i will know what two mean Here are couple more for you GBASC - Any Standard ColourNSV/NSC - Non-Standard Variety/Non-Standard Colourcool but i will never remember lol Is she really a dilute or is she just a cinnamon opaline spangle ? I am wondering, as she was sold to me as a dilute and spangle. Her father was a grey spangle/dilute.I guess I am second guessing here............upon looking again she has the tail she should have if dilute and the spangle inheritance is just confusing things.PS the chick hatched yesterday didnt make it.she looks opaline diluted grey green to me kaz but i not sure with colour but i got a dilute boy spangle markings are alot finer and clearer normally so....
  9. well i look like im skyblue under my coat of white with my yellow balaclava so i say i want a to have a nice cobalt hen or a violet add in Opaline and hope im also masking Opaline also mmmmmm now wouldnt that be nice
  10. snap renee when you fill us in so well dave why ask questions ? also when you dont answer questions i do feel like im wasting my effort so.... but i do read and enjoy your thread fully
  11. not raining on my parade nubbly 5 i didnt think it was cinnamon and that would make cence why it was grey on back like i said so thats a very good call but i dont know i thought black eye self (clear) as they got faded markings not cinn but you are better at dignostic vishuals than me so ... looks like its a texis clear body just chest is not faded thats why i didnt call that
  12. good to hear
  13. the boys are brothers and yes in aviary but not THE aviary i have a few aviarys dave the one they are in is for birds that i wont be breeding their is only a few in their 3 to be exact one was prolaps hen others beyond age I have recently bought 5 surplus birds from showbreeder, they could not fly either, after quarantine when I put them in aviary. Don't think they realised they could fly but with a bit of gentle encouragement they started a bit at a time, now can't stop them apart from one "lazy" hen. Don't know how long they were caged for so don't give up I think it's just lack of space. Hope this helps thank you robyn i did talk to the seller and they were quiet happy to refund me if i washed they did not relise the birds could not fly as they were not his birds as i said he just brought them closser to me for me i said no as it was really my over look as well so... if they dont its all learning curb for me the better one he flew a foot today so very good sighn he wants to stay close to brother though so... im wondering if i should seperate as brother who is named joey just hops and this discorages herman (the other one) and he went back to floor to sit with him they seem lost without eachother but i feel he may have a chance if with only the others without the brother
  14. okay LIV I LOOKED UP THE PAGE I WAS READING woops sorry and it doesnt state what the inbalance may be just that it is due to a dietry inbalance in her matabolism as i said sorry i could be of not much asistance it justs sugests plenty of saw dust but recomends removal of chicks but thats not going to b a posability so..... my chicks were fine im sure your last ones were so id just make sure plenty of dandylines chickweed bread mabe a bit of yeast powder if you prefer that let me know how it goes
  15. well that seemed to work for me i havent had time to look what imbalance they think it is but will do that now while cooking tea
  16. GenericBlue replied to Blake's topic in Budgie Safety
you could also tie colorful balloons around the aviary area this also would work the dont have to b so close that the frighten birds helium ones would work best
  17. i quiet often put a larger short hen to a longer pet type cock as long as he has good poster and so on but this is only to upsize my pet type birds rearly do i put a large cock to a small hen just depends what your idea of small is really usually the hens have bigger heads and the cock will have nice spots or markings people do upsize birds for show stock but takes time
  18. god bless it is in the stars that i see you as it was in your eyes that they shine rest in peace blessed may they all be my thought are with you darl
  19. yes they are darl believe me some people trust too much its same as con artists they got the gift to make you think thy genuain
  20. yes mate not saying you are wrong as you are completely right thats, why i kept stating masking but you explain things so much better than i do it is a lot clearer now as you sad as clear as mud just like i explain things its good someone else makes it clear usually i dont say much as i think i will confuze people more but been trying latly to make sence
  21. is that a common bird it is shes right thats what i ment is it common depends if you breed them yes but no its a raire variaty
  22. sorry elly but i was talking with members of club about my wordings and a black eyed clear is simply a blackeyed self sorry my bad its very old lingo eg like harliquine and um white wing which you all know as clear wings i guess im just old
  23. Spangle is a dominant gene they are not split to spangle. If they show the marking of a Spangle they are a Single Factor Spangle If they don't show the marking of a Spangle they are a Double Factor Spangle I just wanted clear that up so you know . mattdog was talking about the lutino i thought masking spangle i dont know either way you have a lutino hen masking something you will find that out with your breeding by reading what i posted above elly and a df spangle boy
  24. liv i was ready it could b a dietary imbalance on the hens behalf it suggested putting more saw wood shavings or even to remove chicks to another nest i have only ever had one hen like this and i cleaned box like 3 times a day seemed worse when chicks hatched and she started feed try a peace of white bread daily also try putting another concave ontop of other one and see this works as you can make despozable ones to use daily not to thick out of thick cardbord boxes with nesting matirial onto of that worked for me will look it back up for you and get back tomorrow k see what exactly they ment to be lacing if any thing
  25. thank you she does have red eyes i have bred all my yellow tpes exept for the two on these topics the hens not the male i bred him but all my other hens are going they are smaller than what i would like matt dog the scally patten on wing is just the feather layering she is a beautiful lutino u would get all split lutino cocks also the yellow df spangle is a green based bird mattdog as it is yellow unless it is a goldenface but i dont think so so you would only get green birds unless they both split too blue you would get all spangle out come with normal bird to df spangle (normal as in what she is masking )and i think u get 50 percent df spangles and 50 persent spangles if the lutino is masking spangle  oh by way he only looks young i would put her with your biggest best cock and get some split lutino boys for your other lute hens she is beautiful get the right cock bird the chicks will be beautifulthank you gb he is 10 months old i bred him well the birds i picked did he is the only male of that colour i have so was going to sit and wait till he older i brought the hen has the same unknow ring see other posts of mine that my lacewing i brought has that and it is so much bigger than my other yellow sparrows by the way have you seen the last picture of the lacewing and whatever the other hen turns out to be i just put it on again keeps getting lost if you hurry you might be able to help me before it goes of course the one i didnt want on really stays up ha she looks in very good condishion i would put he up after quarrentene you dont need it to be yellow dark green mauve or olive good for lutino breeding the chicks will come out green / lutino but when they older and breedable if you put the boys to the lutino hens you have you will not only upsize your birds (THE CHICKS BEING BIGGER WITH LUCK ) WOOPS SORRY CAPS  but you will get more pink eye birds (lutinos ) cocks and hens and normal hens in the nest and normal split lutino cocks also its best to pair your lutinos to split lutino to keep the butter cup yellow and size breeding only your very very best lutino cock and hens together every once in awhile when they both have size and carictour (featcher)man i cant spell either thoughs words UM BUT TO WAIT FOR HIM ISNT A BAD THING EITHER SO....EITHER WAY MAN WHATS WITH THE CAPS
