  1. OH MY GOODNESS have you all forgotten im the king of budgies i am the maker of all MWHA HA HA HA (megalomaniac here ) seriously i believe this is a really pointless so far i can see nothing but disrespect for others beliefs that i find appalling im going to say search google see what it comes up with then just believe that as most people would it is no evidence of any evolution that stands up so really ... its like the old did Armstrong really walk on the moon

you seem to have now experienced what happens when you colony breed. oh too sad really i must have missed all this i guess you will be rethinking your breeding options mate why is it that no one listens to the bad experiences of other colony breeding posts then wonder why their beloved babys whom appear sooo placed and friendly to each other all of a sudden turn nasty and kill, mane and plainly just turn psychotic?????? no birds breed with out problems in a colony situation i am sorry for this happening and do hope every one thinking of colony breeding takes this and reconsiders

  20. Unfortunately sometimes this does happen. I do not think you will be able to save the chick that was attacked. I would remove the hen asap and just leave the remaining chicks with Dad. it has happened id say due to mum wanting to relay again or dad paying attention to chicks more than her all you can do is clean it up withwarm boiled salt water then keep it warm inside as you are how old are they as it may beable to eat on its own but with a tender beak may not rearing mix in a dish for it so it can suck is an idea then vets for asesment on beak it may pay to have the little darl put to sleep if beak is very bad then it may heel if not to bad salt water bathing will cause it to scab and if your really lucky it may seal the probblem but vet vet vet mate truley and remove her from aviary as ren started
  21. Coz she is spangle AND opaline spangle at that, any black (or brown) wing markings are reduced to very fine lines on the outside edge of each feather. With opaline spangles sometimes the black (or brown) wing markings are reduced to such a point as they are just about gone completely but if you look at the flight feathers you will see the faint darker lines edgeing the tips of the feather. Now IF this marking is brown - she is cinnamon, IF it is black she is not. With both cinnamon and opaline being sex linked recessive genes a cock can be split for cinnamon or opaline (or both) but a he is either visual or she is normal - she can't ever be split for a sex linked mutation. What GB said actually........... you just put things so much better
  22. I am not sure whether there are any hard and fast rules as to how many clutches they have - be it 1, 2 or even 3. It comes down to breeding conditions in your breeding room and the breeding condition of your birds. I did not say there were any hard and fast rules. I just observed that with some pairs that were great with their first clutch, there were a few issues with their second. Another little one died in the nestbox today. I checked the last survivor and there is food in its crop, so it has bee fed. Just interesting to see what will happen. I know that sounds harsh, and I am yet to master crop feeding, but if the birds come into this life and get an infection early, chances are they are not going to either fully mature to be a good bird, or they are always going to carry an infection. I know it sounds harsh, and I have treated the water with Triple C to give the birds a chance, but if this little one dies, and I think it will given what happened to its siblings, I will remove the nest box, treat the pair in there for whatever they might have, then return them to the aviary. There are no signs of any mites. I think that the infection has come from Mum. not harsh dave wise i must admit i only ever breed my birds one round rest for a month then another if they looking good i stagger my pairs so as i can do this only ever have i breed a few pairs straight after as they were sooooooooo good looked like no chicks were raised
  23. violets are only rare if you dont understand the genetics side of the modifying gene much sorted though but not rare i mostly only ever breed violets in my pet line and am yet to go into colour genetics with my show birds but will one day few years off yet though it was very nice of you to tell people of these birds but did not mention if show or pet i my self do not need to know as im in vic however others may wish to know save many pms
