  10. okay i got a lutino cock he is an older bird i know his ancestor and breeder he was culled to pet shop but i snapped him up before he had time to settle their for 20.00 he may not breed last time he was used was 2008 i thought he would be great for pet line if not good enough for show stock can i have others opinions please and what i need to do to bring out his hidden genes i know he is in the blue as it was said but know to achieve this from him i need a dark green hen with a nice feather above the head and bit of body about her something i do not have :fear but thought i will grab him in case their was other option i could use with him remember i breed albino and really perticually want to achive albinos and lutes with his blood aventually he is not split blue so would need to out cross to a mauve ????would this be right to still contain his vibrant yellow in the chicks and have them be split for blue or am i better to breed him to a violet hen for this or what???????????????? thanks gb albino to him would i know work only my hens are not good enough in the head so will need to split chicks first to lutino and hope for a hen lute in the bunch would i need a cinnamon hen or not lutes not my area
  11. ever since i changed to the club seed my birds have been hungrier its very dry and although looks good i feel they preferred the other brand better how ever i put half half finch also in their mix so i was going to look into buying all my seeds seperatly then mix my self do many others do this as its said that certain seeds are better for nutritional values eg jap millet and pelenium seed (the orange colored one i cant pronounce name their for cant spellit sorry ) i was told canary really isnt best seed to make most of their diet up what seeds are most important can any one help with that ????

  14. yes and you should see their heads now i will get picture monday as busy till then
  15. hello im just seeing and reading your post now im thinking your moving her around alot for a unwell bird so....could it be she is stressed and as clearwing stated just heat stressed also creating her abnormal green poo as if her butts clean and shes hanging on to perch swing she cant be that bad also feeling the keel bone is different to the crop which it sounds like is what you felt as with out holding her you would not really be able to identify if shes thin or not as you need to clasp your hand around her she can not bit you if you grasp her correctly to do this you must firstly (for your security of not being bitten as it hurts like *** ) put on a glove of any kind that she can not bite through secondly , place her down onto a table top and keep her firmly on her stomic not pressing just holding her with you un gloved hand put your two fingers in a v the ones next to your thumb like your doing a peace sign to someone then whilest holding her against table with the gloved hand get your fingers and come over top of your gloved hand and put her head in a restraint with the two fingers that are ungloved and gently up and under her lower beak lifting her head as so it can not turn be careful as birds necks are delicate with your knuckles firmly press them together gripping her but not so tight as to strangler her or cut breathing off move your gloved hand away and clasp the rest of her body in the ungloved hand you should now have her in a nice safe hold you can then proceed to check weight wings ect.... that laying a crossed perch is a sign of heat stress and moving around is a cause of environment stress if she is bitting hard and hard to grab then she is most probbly to hot i would think about a light room temp mist spray not at or on her directly but if she wants to she can move into it do not spray direct on to her as she knows what she wants and will go to it if she wants other than that if she is eating well and drinking id say just keep eye on her and find a permanent indoor spot for summer hope all goes well
  16. dave im suprized you didn't get drainage put into the concrete i know if i was able to concrete rather than pave i would have a drainage well draining of into garden make cleaning easier for thoughts asking about securing the aviary daves idea is best if you have concrete if not though i used massive tent pegs and pegged my one down
  17. im not more experienced but i have had violet experience also for long time and df violets you know are that only when breeding as all chicks are visually violet in the out come of clutch colors(provided its a blue based bird its paired too you can see this if paired to a green all chicks would be violet green its alot more to it than that but its late and im tied theirs an artical by someone bergrman im not sure of spelling or name but hes a known person he has a writing on violets and how to tell different s
  18. thank you Robyn your too kind i am only doing my job as a provider of service to you your birds are by way doing great and awaiting their new home okay here is a few pics i took some blurry some are okay just a few as most pics were bad first a yf chick opaline and im hopeing its a cock as im sure this is my split lacewing chick (if a cock ) if its not well still could be good to keep i will just see how it turns out its 18 days today pics took yesterday now this few photos were taken last week 7 day old lacewing chick theirs actually two different lacewings in their from two nests 2 days apart your guess is as good as mine the first three were the first chick i remember as it looks like a frog and the second chick is more slim line well thats it for now i need up dated ones cause they have grown so much now i will work on it
  19. yes im very happy his last suggestion however i did not feel was needed specially as i dont have a bird i feel i want to use as a sacrifice but i am very happy to do all else he stated and if i lose a bird soon or in month or so i will definitely be getting a lift quick smart with the bird to be tested as he wanted to or if i see a bird i feel is still not up to standed and not getting any improvement as it may just hold the key to whats going on in the flock but intill then thanks again guys and im practicing with my cam so shots of babys may be soon :grouphug:
  20. i did that not long ago remember kaz ..lol after he was finished i am left with the remainder of mabe 30 birds could be less but i chose to do this as so i can get ahead start Early and not waste time with breeding some good hens for myself i feel that his advice was good when i asked what he did he basically said he culled to what he saw recently at show stranded (if that makes sense) i totally trust hes put me in the right direction whats more he did not ask questions on who breed what just weather i was happy to let that bird go i did cull them from show breeding but have kept them for my pet stock so i didn't really let go im going to bite bullet and take them all to pet shop once my new chicks come out of nest i guess im all for the hard cull theory but i know show breeding is not easy and one single genetic trate that's faulty or weak could wreak years of hard work so im quiet happy to be strict on my breed chicks and keep only the best and breed them again to a cock whom i know to be prepotant
  21. You're right, it was disrespectful and I apologise. Sorry Jeddo, I was just being silly and kidding around. In all honesty I hadn't even thought of where budgies evolved from. Hope you get your answers soon Yep me too..... sorry for suggesting that some of you guys out there might look (and smell (didn't think of that one CB!)) like big hairy ape men. You know that you CAN get you backs waxed. Some people take themselves WAY too seriously don't they.........? How about we all lighten up somewhat, believe whatever you want - as far as I am concerned or CARE budgies might have been pulled out of some benevolent deity's backside!!!!!! Does it really matter in the whole big scheme of things? For me this was actually one of the most FUN topics - I just can't help the smart *rse comments - sorry about that :grouphug: That's just my sarcastic and weird sense of humour.............. and THAT my dear fellow forum users I won't change. Have a big laugh and get over it no you guys got me wrong i was giggling at all that belive me i just read some what daves comment was then someone else s comment on their dis belief of god sure were all in titled to our own opinion and dont expect people not to give it as this forums about opinions and when something is known knowledge but i do think that one comment was really not put well alot of people believe others dont and i could just see some big debate on much more than how did the bird evolve thats all i love each one of you for your self just im not totally religious but thought that was out of place to just blatantly say gods not true its just that people cant think here bellow is what got me sorry guys but i thought that was not needed not all believe in stuff im one but i believe in other stuff but never tell anyone god is not real as some people are very much believers in god as our creator like evolution of the budgie no one will ever know if god exists so i think he should be not assumed as a figmennt of the laymans imagination i think it was put as the monkey thing and other comments by u all were harmless and not putting a percentage of the human race down as they wish to look towards faith in their life quote from daniel 1 88 i think it was If God existed then budgies came from god, but as he's a figment of the laymans imagination (cause thinking is too hard) then we are left to find a real explanation - evolution may in part explain it - in fact the various mutations of budgies and selective breeding is evolution all over (strongest, fitter, bigger, particular colour). Do I come accross as atheist?(atheist no but unempic to others yes )
  22. Glad to hear it! I trialled this method this year and it worked a treat. The only downside was when I had an outbreak of FM .... affected chicks not showing signs yet infected new nests ... worth thinking about. its only for this once ren and im bowned to get fm chicks this time round as birds were all run down even though i didnt know it and as i had it last clutches remember as i know it you need to rest birds for 3 months i am doing this now for till july actually i wont be mixing clutches next time as i will be going back to my way of doing things not what was sugested thanks guys i hope all is good also i have
  23. sorry guys i did not see that you were asking till now my birds are seeming to be okay i am going to send some poo to splat to see what she may find but this is not really a diagnoses method its more so splat can have other avian birds to view other than her own how ever if she does find something i will ask her to send a e mail with the poo label to me and i will smartly take the birds in question to vet to be tested again birds seem okay few still bobing tails however im wondering if im just over seeing this activity normally :hmm: all but one birds brown staining above cere has gone and no longer am i hearing constant sneezing but i do hear one now and again blinds have been down untill this after noon but again down for the night breeze all my chicks are doing well also but some have been plucked due to over crowded nests i believe but i have worked it out to 5 chicks per nest between 6 pairs removing all largest to one nest smallest to last this is the first time i have used this method but felt it was necessary i will be swapping some chicks as the feather around again to even out the time they fledged a bit better so far all are doing good in aviary gim me a G gim me a B gim me a go gbs birds go i will get some pics if able soon lol (not blurry ones i hope )
  24. yea im not going crazy after all i thought kaz;s bug had finally done my head in
  25. Yay! I am not the only one! Thank you GB. At present she is getting 1-2 drops of Ionic Silver 3 times a day. Actually she is showing no signs of discomfort at all and blinks it in perfectly. I found the tea bag a bit messy and tea was going down her ear .... the eye dropper works a treat. i never said use a tea bag i would have assumed u used an eye dropper for the salt water but as long as shes completable and its looking better that's all that counts
