Culling?
um i would not use this method as its not fool proof birds neaks are pretty strong specially chicks and sometimes even if you know what your doing that method does not work also if you use enough force the head can come off not a pretty sight their is much nicer way than that I agree with GB. This method is one that doesnt work always as it should. I wont use it either. One of the things I am trying to avoid in this topic is actually discussing how to euthenase a bird. WHY ??? Because in the past on this forum, it meets with HUGE HUGE horrible results. People dont wont this kind of discussion here and get too upset over it. So we dont. Many a memmber when faced wuth the inevitable has PMed me for advice and thats where I will give advice for euthenasia when I have to. i also would give my method if really need be but i agree with kaz its beter left for pm and rarly is it needed realistically

Culling?
I see, Kaz is right, it does upset people. I'm sorry about that, joy4me. i actually think people should know how to put a bird down in the right way but im not about to go saying as i dont want to be the one to upset others but relly if it needs to be done their is humain way of doing it and the birds feel nothing it does not involve knocking on the head or water car fumes or anything else of that nature if you ask your vet they will be more than happy to let you know how its done correctly with no pain or suffering to the bird

Culling?
cock cock cock cock :hap: yet ***** cat is not allowed my experience was quiet funny i think being female and in the bird breeding fancy you need a humor or you wont last long i did try to relate to the birds as boy and girl birds but i was asked to please express the correct terminology its okay because i later heard one member likes his birds loose

Show Cage Training
Hi Splat, suggestion, absolutely drown him, wet to the bone then put him in the show cage, where hopefully he'll sit on the perch till he dries out. that is what i do clearwing it works for me so far drowned as a rat they sit still on perch sorry for themselves then preen themselves dry i then leave them for a few hours before removing them back to holding cage

Culling?
budgie terminology can be a funny t :raincloud: hing as i found when i joined my club :raincloud: at times it can sound quiet wrong in alot of aspects but bring with it a very funny conversation to have to try and hold a straight face through like for example when i first joined i was asked what i looked for in a good cock ....??? for someone like me who doesnt get out much or socialize this was rather imbaressing and quiet hard to answer with a straight face specially when i wanted to use the right wordings the answer was quiet amusing i thought . a nice long thick cock with good tall stance a wide head and frontal blow try saying that to 3 men you dont even know and holding your face

Nibbles Is Quite Sick
lead poisoning will do that to him darl it will be touch and go for a few weeks as his body dispels the toxins if he reacted to the meds also his bodys got to fight this also hes doing great just keep him warm tell him how much you love him and how your going to make him a great indoor bird tree when hes well (nothing like bribery as incoragment ) just do as you are doing and the little ones a fighter so he may pull through also hows your water mabe boil all his water or pure water filtered mabe small traces of lead in that thats building toxicity up a bit again

Budgie Cages
I wouldnt put breeding pairs all in together as you will have heartache, possible deaths, definitely fights, smashed eggs and maybe maimed or killed babies. HOWEVER...with that cage you can divide it through the middle creating a top section and a bottom section and have one breeding pair in each section with their own nestbox. i did exactly what you said their kaz and the only probblem i had was cleaning the bottom cage as i just moved the bottom grate up to devide it also just place something to stop the tops birds mess falling onto bottom birds

Show Cage Training
we could always do what one person remarked to me at show when i passed comment on a fantastic yf hen and her fantastic all over features and posture stance behaving perfectly as a show bird is expected the person when i asked their opinion as a intermediate breeder on this bird commented and i quote , that bird hum whats so good about that bird (me speaking:>the whole overall bird and come on look at that stance and behavior . person im quoting :> hum its called super glue ...said as they placed head in air and walked off talk about bad showman ship some people i just don't understand very sad for someone like me to hear an aptitude like that spoken about someone elses bird even more so when it was clearly a great bird infact many other i spoke to said second best bird in show by their acount this was judges and breeders alike so maybe maybe we could glue the birds to the perch

Wa State Show & Young Bird Derby
i would say macka that the d cups would have been placed in after the placings and judging was finalized as you are not permitted to take pics till then i didnt however know you could put paper on bottom we have a seed filled bottom cage and it must be of a certain mix im not sure what yet but its not aloud to be just any seed think it must be your clubs seed i think also from what i have experianced we do not gather the birds around near where awards are taking place all birds just stay where they are exept a few are moved that are best in show extra but still not near the awards you have to look at birds before awards start to see the champions extra thanks for pics guys i took some from the uniteds show on sunday but not near as many or as good :bliss:

Show Cage Training
well i just started show training the tip i got was put the birds in holding cages in pairs of two to three then before placeing them in the show cage spray them with water to soked then place in show cage so the can dry off and preen themselfs this way they releate the cage to quiet time for themselfs to preen themselfs clean with no hassles then when compleatly dry place back in the holding cages do this every day till the water rolls off the bird like a duck then its in its best feather and quiet in show cage so far this is working for me i place marbles in cage floor if the bird runs along bottom and i paint the cage wire with stop bite if their a bar chewer they get sprayed twice a day and sit in the cages about 2 to 3 hours both times a day so 6 hours all up
