  2. okay these are two day old pics im going out to take new ones now and then upload the size diffrence is amazing they have grown so... i still do not know which one is houmans asyet will see personality's starting soon though the clutch chick one chick two chick three fours to little as yet to touch

  5. thank you for explaining what i was trying to say i have a lot of trouble expressing myslf dark green bird with violet looks to be very murky mouldy looking green as you said a light green violet looks or apears dark green bird such to speak clearwing yes in the show systim their not reconized but that does not excluded them and their a very handy bird to have violet light greens especially in breeding violets you yeald more visualviolets than you would from a normal skyviolet to cobalt pairing
  6. lol oh so i need to beg you one day to tell me lol Bullseye spots YES GB, but I was answering based on Naomi asking about normal looking throat spots. Even bullseye spots are hard to acchieve in the average shgow budgie spangle. I have worked out how to get them though
  7. really as i thought we aimed to try and get a spangle with bulls eye spots on throught or am i trying to do the imposable lol
  8. a grey hen will get you more grey greens or a nother grey green hen will garentee grey greens im not to sure i just starting to work out the greens myself
  9. this is not so clear wing i must disagree you can breed a green bird with violet factor showing which darkens the green yes its used mainly as you say but a violet green is a colour not to be confussed with a violet breed green bird which is as you said just a turm to state its carrying a violet genetic possably but a single factor violet green is as a single factor skyblue its got a defenent violet shine on it i have pics of two i have but i cant seem to get my stupid photo bucket to work but i did post them once before in a thread not to long ago around december in a thread where a young chick was under debate on colour ill try to find them for you the pics
  10. it depends does your nest box have a concave as if no i would add something in now but if it has a concave then i would just leave untill all chicks hatch i would need to see pics of mum and dad as would others here as their are a few variations of pied birds and may also be holding another mutation or if you cant get pics on mabe go look in budgies members birds pull up a bird exactly the same as yours and post here and i can onlyt try to help but if you had pics someone could give a defenent answer to you on chick colour and mutation expectations cheers oh feathers in about two week stage
  11. im having bad troubbles with photo bucket it wont let me cope link so im unable to post pics i even started a new account and still the same thing can anyone help me out what i may be doing wrong here cheers
  12. it is very sad and he was very beautiful
  13. id go with mauve or cobalt even violet as you may get a violet dark green which again are deep green very lovley colour
  14. so glad i could be of help if the transfer went good the rest should be fine just remember that these little chicks will need to start to be getting cleaned feet and beaks in around two weeks of age this means you will need to take the nest box down and just in front of the cage so mum and dad can see what your doing and not stress you will need to have some where warm to place the babies in i use a tea shirt or a beanny at times or a nother nest box if i have a available one and just firstly scrap the nest box with a butter knife so any poo is cleaned out then place some oats in the bottom just a hand full is fine and a bit of seed is okay at this age also then one by one get a chick in your hand and turn it so its face is facing you get your finger if you have nails this is easier and just scoop any food that maybe stuck on upper beak inside mouth as this forms a hard plaster like filler and stops the beak from forming properly which in turn deforms the birds beak and can cause serious issues for chick when out nest possibly even starvation as it may not be able to crack seed properly as the deformed beak is wrong shape also dont forget to look under tongue see the bottoms not caked up some chicks do not get this and no cleaning is needed but i find theirs always one day i may need to clean at least one chicks mouth so best safe than sorry also if their is droppings on feet you can gently take this off so it does not strangulate the feet and stop the growth causing swelling and foot damage however if the poos hard be very careful as you can pull toe nails off and cause bleeding which does not stop easily and cause more damage i suggest you look up care of chicks in this forums faq and look up feet cleaning of chicks and beak cleaning im sure their will be something on it all if not maybe i will have to make a thread on these two issues when chicks have been cleaned and looked over for no other problems splayed legs is another thing you need to read up on then put chicks back with mum and da to be looked after and kept warm and feed good luck so far youve done fantastic and been very responsible great job
  15. hi and welcome these chicks are yf opaline cobalt chicks do you have pics of mum and dad as these chicks are not pied however i breed chicks from pied bird like this and a white winged blue hen so if you have done the same pairing then these chicks are split pied recive pied would be my guess but to be able to tell defenently picture of mum and dad are needed as other wize my words are worth nothing thoughs chicks are opaline yf cobalt chicks though
  16. well good luck to you three as sounds like your three heads put together will be successful to what your wanting to achive they say two heads are better than one
  17. i can see where your comming from and if your really into serious show breeding then i guess this is a way to combat infertility but concidering cocks can be infertile for periods of times in one year how do you know if your discarding a good cock who is just going through a rest stage as i call it you may actually cause more infertility by stressing the cock birds out catching them up and takeing reguler samples i guess if you were just testing the cocks before pairing as a selection type way around clear nests then but truley you hit the nail before even if a cock is fertile its the bird managment and husbandry that truley deturmains how many clear nests you get watching you birds dayly to see if mateing had begain and is it successful you only need to see each pair get it on one to know if you have their cage set corect for that certain pair and i belive if you pluck or trim it does aid alot in the whole picture you probbly will get better rezults as your eliminating infertile cocks from your breeding rounds but i wouldnt be eliminating these birds from the flock intill over a year or two of tests as as i said cocks can have infertile periods in their life for up to 5 months or so some times longer then sometimes shorter
  18. you just put it in in small quantitys the birds will be fine being moved but i would wait for last chick to hatch first just set the new cage up with freash food water and seed and place the cock in the new cage then when the hens in the nest with the chicks cover the entry hole and carefully transfer the nest box to the new cage and hang as close as possable to where it was in other cage so what i mean by that is if it was on left hand side up top cornner place on left hand side in top cornner of new cage make sure the cockatail cage wire is not the big bars as your birds may get out and keep them next to the cage they were in on a small table off the ground if you can this way the will still have the company of the other birds chatter the new food should be exepted by the mum and dad and they will feed it to the growing chicks it may take a few days or weeks for them to try it so mabe great it all up the carrot and apple and feed this way at first the egg and biscit also will be new but im sure they will love it good luck if i didnt make sence just underline where and i will try again or mabe some one can explain for me i have trobble explaining stuff at times
  19. hi darl im interseted to know if the birds are in a cage alone or in with your other adults i only ask as you may want to remove the nest box and mum and dad to a cage of their own so that the chicks dont get hurt by any other adult birds you dont have to but i would look into the colleny breeding threads so as you can see why i say this as for your question i would feed mum and dad a peaice of carrot freash every day just a few round slices and mabe buy some spinich leaves from the supper market and put one leaf in per day i prefer to buy the baged spinich as its just a small leaf and keeps in frige longer than a big bunch mabe a slither of apple a slice of orange and a little spoon full of frozen peas and corn thored out i always like to add a slice of white bread to this remember to take it all out at night and give freash each morning the chicks will thrive as will mum and dad as for the dirty face i wouldnt worry to much about it if you really want you could clean it off but feeding these extra veg should see a change in her milk and she should feed cleanner as more variarty dont forget freash water daily morning and night also the rashio for seed to chicks per day for healthy well feed not undernorished chicks is one cup per chick good luck and enjoy the eventure
  20. im not sure what my thoughts are on it as i breed more for joy of it than to produce chicks each time its part of the experiance i just lost 45 eggs to the big storm all due to hatch the hens all went off the eggs and huddled scarred in the nest box corrner everything died in shell i didnt think you could trancefure the sperm from the mic scope glass tohen though as doesnt the glass kill seamen ??? i know blood kills seamen i dont think theirs anything wrong with ai if used speringly but it does take the true challange away thats my thoughts good luck with all your tests and reserch and may you all gain some thing from your working togeter gb
  21. i agree with kaz the cannker treatment wont afect her or his state only help it if it is cannker but i would not medicate with other things and i would ring around find a vet thats open
  22. dont give glocose it makes bacteria worsen i was told rock salt in the water and warmth the bird sounds like what happened to mybirds and in the end it was due to stress but as kaz said cannker or megga show these sighns also i would not medicate anybird though with out vets advice but treating for cannker wont hurt if its it as can only stop it id go clean aviry with other birds in it with a vinager spray on perches and wire all water dishes and clean seed tray to insure other birds more chance of not becomming unwell untill u can find out what happened to this bird
  23. oh this is fantastic new hun good luck with the chickens
