thanks , the yf is the one whose sex is a bit of a mystery at the moment . im having some difficulty with photobucket resizing but im sure i will figure it out . ive got mostly young birds which i want to breed with this time next year and my 11 month old boy is fascinated by them

im still thinking boy too because of the original cere colour and teperament but wont be at all dissapointed to be wrong . just means i can but the yf type 2 ive always wanted

thought i might introduce my birds . they don't all have names but my flock has grown quite quickly recently . ive got animals of all sorts , dogs , fish , horses and of course budgies . must be the way ive been brought up being surrounded by so many . anyhow love the site and here are a few of my feathered friends . not show birds by any means but i think they are great anyway .

this is the best i could do . i caught the budgie and ahd it in my hand while attepted to take some photos - then the battery went flat ! this budgie didnt bite very hard and is pretty sociable with the 5 other birds in its cage , ( 2 hens and 3 boys ) and the cere is starting to lok puplish/brown

thanks there is great information there and sure to be very helpful though i hope i wont need it . this pair laid eggs in the bottom of the cage in feb this year (not planned ). 8 eggs all up and only one hatched which i thought was great as i was of the opinion none would make it . this time they have a nesting box and have been getting spoilt so im hoping for more than one bub ! i will update on how things went , and will also candle the rest of the eggs when i check later too . thanks

hello to all . i have a pair of budgies sitting on 7 eggs at the moment . im very excited as i can hear chirping coming from #1 egg first thing this morning , which is due to hatch today . how long now til it hatches ? and if it doesnt hatch how long til i should help the little jelly bean out ? when i checked the egg yesterday evening there was no chirping . this is my first real attempt at breeding but i dont want to get too carried away either .

i bought this one from a breeder just fledged out of the nest probably about 3 weeks ago now . the cere still has a blue ring around it but i will get some better close up natural picks tomorrow . thanks for the help i would hate to end up trying to breed 2 hens together LOL :question:

hi all im new to this and more confused about sexing my budgie by the cere colour . i bought this little one from a breeder as a baby boy ( about 9 weeks old now ) and i was happy by the cere colour this was the case . as you can see in the pics though the colour is going slightly brown . do boys do this before going blue or do i infact have a young hen ? im planning to breed from this bird when about 12 months old but would like to know the sex before i buy a partner for him/her ? hope these photos help , thanks i also think the pied is a young cock , is this right ?
