What Species Are okay With Budgies?
my personal preference would be to put it on the deck where it is more visible . you could screw it to a piece of marine ply same size as your base and maybe add some casters ( wheels) to the marine ply so you can move it about easily if need be ,and not do any damage to the timber decking either

Please Help !
I placed the cock in the flight for a few weeks and his cere changed back to blue so I paired him up and have two nice chicks from him. The hen has laid the next clutch and has at least two fertile eggs. I believe that this cock's condition may have been bought on by stress. I bought him at auction so all the traveling may have caused it. I agree with Neville on his thoughts on the matter. thanks daz for the insight to your bird being able to breed . curious about the 2 chicks you have from him as to whether or not there ceres are normal . my boy seems to be very palyful and mischievious , but seems overactive at times too !

Cinnamon Confusion
thanks neville for explaining that to me clearly  . ive decided that should they both be healthy and in condition i will put the cinnamon hen with the white df spangle :hap: i like the idea of getting all spangles , some with yellowfaces . then i can breed to violets later down the track to get visual yf violet spangles thats given me a good long term plan and goal to work towards , thankyou

Cinnamon Confusion
So, four months to go till you can breed her so that should get you past the hot weather and into March / April. :hap: thats the plan at the moment . i just like to be prepared , im not a big fan of hindsight !
-
Please Help !
no definitely no doubting neats . i just had to prove to a mate of mine that used to breed alot of budgies that he was wrong about your 2 hens ( he said 1 was def cock ) . i will split the $50 with you ofcourse im sorry to hear that av , this guy would be nearly 5 months old now i think . and he has been moulting almost the whole time since i got him in late september ( i think ) . moulting shouldnt take this long , this week he also dropped both his tail feathers too !
-
Cinnamon Confusion
thanks neat that was really quick . your psychic powers are getting stronger :hap: hmmm well i would be aiming for strong spangle markings then violet spangles down the track :hap: . i do like your cinnamon spangle though mb , quite nice if i do say so okay so lets say i pair her with the df spangle blue suffusion then and not he yf2 on the left what would the outcomes most likely be ? 25% df spangles , 50% spangles and 25% normals . all cock birds split for cinnamon ?
-
Cinnamon Confusion
have to check with neat on her age , not planning on breeding with her til mid next year though so she would be okay then okay so the cinnamon wont show up in the spangles because spangle is dominant right ? and unless i put her to a cinnamon male , male chicks of any other mutation would be only split for cinnamon ?
-
Cinnamon Confusion
hi there , i have a really pretty gf cobolt cinamon hen that im not really sure what to pair with or how the cinnamon gene works . are there any mutaions that should best be avoided mixing with cinnamon , ie spangle ? this is her i should add i have a df spangle cock or a yf2 rec pied skyblue cock ( carrying violet ) that im considreing as possible partners at the moment
-
Please Help !
hence the confusion is it possible he has some sort of chemical imbalance ? maybe he is both male and female ???? he is still moulting and has been doing so for what seems like an eternity now . also the yellow is washing into the blue giving him green patches of feathers underneath where he used to be just cobolt . im wondering if there is more to this bird than meets the eye also no flash was used in these pics either , all natural
-
New Additions To My Flock
yeah those cobolts are tricky to get the true colour to show up , may have been washed out by the flash a bit . its really dull and overcast outside today too .
-
Bowe Has Left Me
well i got up this morning and upon checking my birds i found bowe , my yf2 opaline cinnamon sky blue dom pied hen , dead on the cage bottom . i suspect she has broken her neck as she looked perfectly healthy last night and shows no signs of having been sick. just goes to show even budgies can have freak accidents too i guess . he she is a few weeks ago now i will have to find raine a new partner as they had bonded really well and i was planning to breed them in a few months
-
New Additions To My Flock
hi all again , i did a mini cull a few weeks back and also bought some new birds too . so here they are , cobolt normal cock and fallow hen pair true violet cock and yf opaline cobolt hen pair ( chase and angel ) cobolt normal cock / sky blue spangle hen pair gf ( or yf2 ?) cobolt cinnamon hen mac , yf2 rec pied sky blue( neat tells me violet too ) and violet rec pied hen and df spangle suffusion cock
-
Please Help !
well i had this bird posted here a couple of months back and it was suggested that i post some new pics a bit further down the track . now by behaviour i think he is a boy , but the cere still has that brown and blue colouring so here it is also have these 2 young ones i got from neat which i think may be hens , what do you think ?
