Scaly Mites
Is it safe to treat a breeding pair for scaly face mites? I think one of the pair may have mites, but I'm not sure if the medication is safe for the chicks?

Urgent Help Please!
Just thought I'd tell you all the good news..after that bad news. I checked the mum again, and saw another egg with almost half of it gone, like the other egg..My first thought was, "Oh God she's doing it again.." But I took a closer look, and it's hatching itself!! So..there's some good news. :party0011: Also, I don't know if it was just because of it hatching early etc, but the chick that died was a really pale white, instead of a pink-red colour like the normal ones.

Urgent Help Please!

Urgent Help Please!
I checked on my breeding pair this morning, and there was a baby, half out of the shell, cold, and looking rather dead...I've seen people say if you warm them up they may actually be alive..but this one decided to hatch early I think, it hasn't fully absorbed the yolk..I'm keeping it warm, is there anything else I can do?! Or is there not really any hope considering it still has the yolk... Please help..

Would This Be A Problem?
Well, the birds pretty much never let me touch the eggs lol..She's always sitting on them, and on the few times she isn't, the second she sees me coming she jumps into the nest again..I'll just wait until it is overdue and if it hasn't hatched by then it's probably infertile..Assuming that it isn't, and that they all hatch, what should I do then?
-
Would This Be A Problem?
Well, she started to incubate from the first egg. So there's a bit over a week's difference from the first to the second, around 2 weeks from the first to the last..And I can't really remove it now, the last egg was laid yesterday and the first is now due to hatch today-Friday.

Would This Be A Problem?
The female of my breeding pair laid one egg, and then for some reason, (I don't know why) decided to wait another 8 days before laying the second, third, and so on in her clutch of 6..If all the eggs hatch, would the size difference between baby 1 and the rest be a problem?

Just Some Guesses Here On My Budgies Colours..:)
Her irises are not completely white, close though..Just wondering, how can you tell if it's just a normal green or a YF2? She does look identical to a yf2 I've had before..but I haven't had a normal green before.

Just Some Guesses Here On My Budgies Colours..:)
Here is a picture of Angel, (sorry about the quality of the picture ) any guesses on how old she is? I got her from a petshop so I have absolutely no idea..She does have iris rings, you can't really see them in that picture. And if she is a yf2, she would have to be pretty old (or at least, not majorly young) to be completely green colour wouldn't she?

Just Some Guesses Here On My Budgies Colours..:)
Also, is it just normal that she has a few patches of olive-green near her head?

Just Some Guesses Here On My Budgies Colours..:)
Cinder's cheek patches are either a really dark blue or purple..I'm not sure. It does look a lot more like dark blue though. She could be a yellowface gone green...I really don't know how old she is. But it's a streak down the middle that is blue, it's even green near her wings and everything..I didn't think yellowfaces had it like that?

Just Some Guesses Here On My Budgies Colours..:)
I don't know if you can see what I mean in these pictures..but Cinder is a Mauve apparently, but there are some cobalt coloured feathers on him, so much on the underside of his tail that it is almost all blue instead of mauve..I've seen a post on another forum, with a budgie that looked exaclty like him, and they were saying he was slate? You can sort of see it on the first picture.. Also, I bought a new budgie, Angel. I can't post any pictures of her as of yet, so I'll describe her..She is a green spangle, but there is some olive-green on her neck and a blue streak down the middle of her chest to her tail, turning some of her chest an aqua colour and the underside of her tail completely blue. It's not very easy to see though. Maybe I'm utterly wrong here, but does that mean she's split for blue? Just a thought..And the olive-green bit, is that just normal or is she split for grey-green or something? Sorry if I'm totally wrong on this, I'm just guessing.. Thanks

How Many Budgies Can I Keep In This Cage
Alright, good plan..I'll do that, it would help with the access etc..thanks for the advice Kaz.

How Many Budgies Can I Keep In This Cage
Well, 2 feet deep but close to 3...But yeah I understand that isn't very much room for flight..As for access doors, it has one at one end. You could divide it into four,, seeing as it isn't very deep I suppose how wide it is makes for more room for flying.. And yes, not much room to arrange and rearrange easily. With dividing it into four, each with it's own door, rearranging perches etc would be made a lot easier..

How Many Budgies Can I Keep In This Cage
I don't have any pictures of the cage..but it is 2 feet deep, 7 feet wide, and almost 5 feet high..How many budgies could I fit comfortably and safely in there, for a long period of time? Ie, a few months-a year. Thanks

What Colours Are My Budgies?
Another question. Is anyone able to tell me exactly how old Cinder is? I just need to know if he is old enough to breed. Thanks.

Weird Budgie...
Hmm it seems she isn't a very picky bird...she does this with pretty much every male budgie she sees, not just her mate.
-
Weird Budgie...
One of my female budgies is weird..When I put her in the breeding cage with her mate, she does the head-bobbing to the male, taps her beak on the perch, sings to him, etc..He seems rather confused about it, but I've bred her successfully before. Does anyone else's budgies do this? As far as I know it's usually the male who does the courtship behaviour to the female...

What Colours Are My Budgies?
By the way, any of you good with genetics please answer this. What colour chicks could I expect if I bred a Mauve Normal/Recessive Pied male with a Violet Spangle Dominant Pied (maybe split to Opaline if that's possible.) female?
-
What Colours Are My Budgies?
I was told by the breeder I bought Opal from that he/she is a female..Cinder has been courting Opal as well..
-
What Colours Are My Budgies?
I am aware of that, they aren't in an aviary with any nest boxes. I will breed them when they are 12 months+, not now, as they are only 2 months old. I am wanting to know what colours to expect when I do breed them later. A lot later. Thanks for letting me know anyway.

What Colours Are My Budgies?
Here are my budgies: From left to right: Cinder, Opal, Banshee, and Cloud: Here is Cinder, Banshee and Cloud: And here are two pictures of Storm: What colours are all of them? And two other things, how old is Opal? And if I paired Opal with Cinder, or Opal with Banshee, what colours should I get from them? I do know Banshee and Cloud are 2 months old, they are Storm's babies..I am wondering what colours I should expect when I do breed them later though. Also, I posted this on another budgie forums, and I was told Opal is a male recessive pied? The breeder I bought he/she from told me Opal was a female..

Hi I'm New Here
Hi I'm new here. This is my first time breeding budgies (I have previously bred other birds) and this forum has helped me a lot. I have three budgies: The mother, and her two (now 6 week old) babies. The father escaped when the chicks were 11 days old. Sorry about the quality of the photos, my camera is broken so I had to use my phone. Here they are: Storm(the mum): Banshee (the youngest): Banshee and Cloud (both of Storm's babies): Any of you good with genetics tell me what their colours are? And if the babies are male or female? Thanks.
