  1. Hey Jimmy, I'm impressed :happy-dancing: , a man that can cook, and a chocolate stawberry flan at that :bluebudgie: , wow, I live in Melbourne do you want to come over and teach my husband, he has trouble with toast . So it's either I cook or its take out and I would love to just occassionally be able to have a nice home cook meal which I haven't had to slave over :grbud: .
  2. Doh! Oh well, it will still be an interesting read I'm sure, and I thought I had a bargin . I will still do my best to obtain a copy of the challenge. Even if it is through the the Birdkeeper magazine.
  3. Hi, Thought I'd ask a question in this post as it is relevant, I've just managed to order a book from the net titled: Best in show, breeding and exhibiting budgerigars published 1974 by Gerald Binks, just wondering if anyone knows if this is the same book as The Challenge (I was kind of thinking that the secondhand dealer may have entered a sub-title instead of the correct title) Anyway reguardless I'm sure any book written by Gerald Binks will be of great benefit to me.
  4. Kaz, I definately think its time to ring Guiness Book of Records, that's just amazing!!! Crikey you'd only have to breed her for a couple of seasons and your avairy would be choccers, just from the one pair. Although you'd need more than the one pair for the raising of the chicks.
  5. Congrats :anim_19: and they were all great entries .
  6. I feel for you  , I would love to breed a yellow face, violet, if you let her have a second clutch do you have any possible fosters for the chicks ? If you do, you never know you may be lucky enough to get another yellow face, violet.
  7. That's really exciting for you Molly, just wait until the chicks arrive :chickendance: .
  8. This Joel bloke is jealous, immature, and a total jerk :tut_tut: , your chicks are of a fantasic quality and I reckon he's just jealous that he can't acheive such superior breeding, congratulations Kaz on what I'm sure has taken much effort, patience and I'm sure at times heartache, don't let this "LOOSER" get to you, your input to this forum is most appreciated and you are respected by ALL except only one and if his reads this sight maybe he'll realize that not only is he wrong in trying to stain your reputation but he is also picking a fight  with the rest of the members of this forum because we're behind you 100% .
  9. Sorry Libby, I somehow missed your question, in relation to whether Hobbles foot was like that before rung, all I can say is I did choose this foot because the chick didn't seem to be flinging it around as much but I really can't say for sure. The only good to come from this situation is that, I now realize how important it is to take the chick out of the nest box and have a really good inspection each day, I think I was still a little worried about interupting Mum too much but really as long as you only have the one big interuption, and then maybe a quick peek at the end of the day, then they seem to handle it okay.
  10. Forget about the camera try a video it sounds like a winner on the funniest home video show, and just imagine the captions they would of put with it. "Hey this would actually build my muslces up if it was full!" "Geez I wish they would supply me with some proper excerise equipment!" :bliss:
  11. I can only imagine, and that is probably still no where near reality :bliss: .
  12. Congratulation Kaz :anim_19: , Do you have a life outside the forum, except for your budgies that is :bliss: Mind you your support is most appreciated  . You are one of those who make this forum what it is, a great success.
  13. Yep that does make sense Elly, I didn't think about them possibly damaging their wings, sorry for the double post, I didn't look over to page 2  and was thinking I'd forgotten to actually post it after typing as I got call away from the computer last night right when I was posting this post :bliss: , don't my family know by now no-one interupts me when I'm on the forum  .
  14. Hey Kaz, Wouldn't her first laid eggs be due to hatch? So excited for you :bliss: , but I hope you have plenty of fosters available as if they are all fertile like last time  you will be needing more than one, I would say.
  15. Hi AV, If there was turbulance that bad I don't think anything would kept the bird from getting battered and bruised , and at least with the perches the bird has something to grip onto. And I would also put seed on the bottom of the cage so without perches I can just imagine the amount of slip/sliding away that would be happening .
  16. Tweet Tweet keep it in your pants :hap: I thought it was meant to be........in my pants Ooops wrong post
  17. Hey AV, If turbulance is bad enough to knock them off the perch, I don't think anything would help them, at least with a perch they have something to grip onto, and if you put seed in the bottom of the cage, as I would do, I think not having a perch of some kind would be worst because they would be slip/sliding away .
  18. Here is a cage which is also extremely good for travel, as it can be almost completely closed up, I have been advised that this sort of cage is great as the birds stress less. This one has a hole in the fly screen which needs fixing but this generally also means less chance of nasty getting into the cage. Hope the photo's are of some help.

  20. Hey Dave its the pits when your ill but even worst when your disabled from the illness/injury, may your recovery be a quick one, hopefully you'll be running around again before you know it .
  21. Thanks Jimmy, I wonder whether the cock twin was the one listed on the show results page of the name "Steel" I found this post late last night, Pretty Cool looking bird.
  22. 8 days to go and counting till the first is due!!!
  23. Do these guys also hatch 2 days apart?
  24. I know of a show breeder who had a super cock and with him he actually transfered him from a new hen which he was paired up with and then for a hour every afternoon he would pop him in with an experienced hen and I couldn't believe my eyes :what: when he promptly got down to business  so to speak and then after a hour he would be placed back with the inexperienced hen. The experienced hen had no problems raising the chicks by herself. He did this quite sucessfully and ended breeding more chicks with this, what he called "stud" quality cock bird. Mind you I don't know whether you would end up burning your good cock bird out so to speak  .
  25. Just wondering whether you are talking needle section or syringe section , because a crop needle may very well fit onto a normal human syringe (being the plastic section which holds and indicates how much medication/crop food is being administered/fed.)
