  1. Early this year when I brought the 3rd season of Grey's Anatomy, only came out to throw my boys some breaky and some lunch and my husband brought take away home for dinner (luckily for me) didn't have to waste 1/2 an hour or so cooking it, if you haven't guess already I just Love Grey's Anatomy. When was the last time you curled up into freshly washed, line dried sheets, smelling all fresh and comforting?
  2. Hey MB that's GREAT! I'm tempted to find a pair of crested, just so you will be able to have a running mate so to speak. If I did do that, I would probably end up with weirdo looking crests, I find I either like the look because they can sometimes look like little "punks" in a cool way , but then you do also get the ones that just look like they've got something wrong with the feather ontop of their heads :rip: . I am also very interested to see some photos as soon as they start to feather up properly. Anyway I also have my fingers cross for its siblings.
  3. Hi Sunnie, Your show babies are georgous, and I hope you have lots of fun showing them :rip: , like I did with my first 2, have you got a show coming up soon?
  4. Currently doing so...chocolate!!! Can't resist it! When was the last time you ate so much you though you were going to throw up?
  5. Hi Splatt, I'm not sure about the baby oil, did anyone else see the clip about baby oil on 60 minutes where in the US they have child locks for the lids because if ingested they can be extremely harmful! And there has been known fatalities in children, so I can't image what could happen to our sweet little guys. I'm using stop pick spray for caged birds from aristopet, it seems to be helping.
  6. I know with poo's, not so much now because your using a potty ( Ooops I mean your little one Neat) but when your child graduates to the toilet, you have to make use you put some toilet paper in the toilet before use as some kids get totally freak out when they do a poo and the water splashes back up, as in the potty this obviously doesn't happen. Poos often do take longer, does he know when he needs to do a poo? Does he hide in a corner? Then on the other side of the coin sometimes going straight to the toilet for poos is better as you can encourage him to hear the splash a poo will make in the toilet, and then he gets to flush it away. It's all just trial and error when it comes to toilet training.
  7. I'm going to pop him in the Kindy cage with 3 other UBC's for a couple of days, until I find an appropriate inside cage with his special need in mind-alot of the cages these days have a wire base before the plastic tray and I don't think that would be the best for "Hobble" so I'm off to find a nice sized simple retanglar cage with plastic tray bottom to it, then I will built a platform for him to perch on, leaving some normal perch aswell incase he masters the art of perching normally. I'm hoping the other 3 UBC's don't pick on him, Mother Nature can sometimes be cruel, when parents pick out the weakest and sometimes eradicate them. That's why he's being moved tomorrow, before things get serious.
  8. Thanks Neats, It's funny because my best friend who has moved to England to work and hasn't come back is Anita and she is German and guess what I call her? Too obviously for me to type . Thank you for your translation.
  9. It's great to see how well Peg Leg Pete has adapted , I'm going to bring my physical handicap budgie "Hobble" in as a tame bird as he has now fledged(You may have read about him in other posts), but is once again being plucked and I think this is due to being different, in their eyes inferior, I will post a updated photo of him soon. I'm going to take him to see Colin Walker an avian vet to see whether the foot which is "buggered" for loss of a better word, would be better removed? Anyway great to see another bird with a foot problem getting along nicely without it, I thought budgies never did real well without a foot .
  10. No after I little more research in the mutation section I realize it is not, that after reading one of Kaz's posts about her father-in-law was it? A black is totally black like a raven, but I also saw some pictures of the blackface budgie that's amazing in itself. I would love to see a picture of a pure black budgie , as I'm sure most of us here on the forum would.
  11. Firstly Hi Super Spangle, although you probably joined the forum before I did, I have just scrolled through the attached photos and is that the rarely bred BLACK BUDGERIGAR :what: I see And if not who reads German on this forum and can tell me what the heck it says. You can't miss it is 1/2 of the way down the photos and it has a white head and what I can only describe as a black body. If it's a grey its a very DARK GREY. Thanks Carolyn alais Budgielover13
  12.   , Dave we'll have to cross your green face with Neat's orange face and see what they produce
  13. Hi, As promised here are some photo's not as many as I hoped as my batteries died  , just as I started to get some photo's of 1st prize winners :anim_19: . Firstly is a photo of a few show cages including both of my birds. Then here are a close-ups of my 2 place winners She wouldn't perch it was late in the afternoon and I think she had had enough. He was just buggered not wanting to move off the bottom of the cage But here is a photo of one of the member's of my club's bird and as you can see this is what I hopefully one day, after lots of time and effort may breed. Sorry the second shot has come up a bit blury  , but even I am impressed with the shot I've posted first  . This bird has an amazing blow and those spots are to die for. May I add this member is NOT in the beginners classifacation. Anyway hope you enjoy the few photos I manage to get before my camera decided to die. Thanks Carolyn
  14. Just beautiful babies and good luck with them all. I believe the government are making those light bulbs complusory soon so will you still be able to get the old ones, which give off better heat?
  15. Hi Guys, Well I had a fantasic day. Both of my birds came 2nd ! Should I mention that there were only 3 in the light green UBC beginners section and only 2 in the sky series UBC beginners section :laughter: , but my light green hen still beat 1 competitor to get 2nd so I was wrapped , and I did get to see some awesome birds, after being so nervous about entering them I just can't wait till I have some young birds to enter in a show. I will probably retire these birds as I know in the young bird section there were some brillant birds and I have some which are just starting to fledge with a bit more size to them but they have been plucked by one of their parents, but keeping my fingers crossed once they've gone through a moult that there will be no evidence of this. I have to go and grab the camera to post a couple of photo's I took at the show. Will be posted soon!! Thanks so much for the support and I better go and grab something for dinner for my boys but will post the photos tonight.
  16. Hey Neat, I know its hard but keep your chin up :hap: , just think about the brilliant new place and your dogs :dog: and kids playing together in the back yard - no snakes to have to worry about. And make sure you "vent" away, because we're ALL here to support you .
  17. So sorry :hap: ! After the loss of your father in-law settles, may things look up for you , I think you deserve it. As for the fraud that's just nasty :tut_tut: .
  18. "No you don't need to toughen up", it's because you care and love your birds the way you do, that you feel this way, and thats a credit to you. Yes occasionally we have to do a cull of sorts, but don't ever change the way you feel about it, it makes you a real person who does care! Hugs coming your way :hap: .
  19. Sorry about your loss, but who knows there may have been something wrong-Mother nature has a way about it sometimes, hard as it may be . How is the next little feller going :what:
  20. Oh my golly :what: , you weren't exaggerating were you! I'm sure other members will be able to give you the advice you need, I just wanted to let you know that we all hope this little fellow is O.K . Good Luck with him and I will watch this post for the outcome.

  22. Thanks everyone for all your positive feedback , Hey MB the Eastern District Diploma show is on this Sunday at Northland Secondary College, 62 Murray Road, East Preston Melway Ref: Map 19 B12 Benching of birds between 7.30-10.00 Then the judging will commence I would have loved for these birds to have been a bit larger and fluffy looking like Kaz's beauties but I suppose I am expecting too much for my very first clutch , since joining a club.Everything takes time , lots of effort and most of all PATIENCE :budgiedance: . Anyway I will let everyone know how things went Sunday evening.
  23. Thanks Renee, You've given me a little more confidence that it is fine to enter the birds just for the experience and to h-ll with what others think, as these are my very first self rung birds, I do have some other chicks just fledging now with a bit more buff and size to them but Mum decided to pluck-Not happy Jan!!! But hopefully as young birds they may grow into something decent and the nest box plucking may not be an issue after they moult.
  24. Just wondering was this class made up of mainly woman :purr: ? :hap: No offence intended!
  25. :hap: Hi, I honestly don't feel these birds are anywhere near show standard, however other more experienced club members (who haven't seen the birds) feel that it would be good just for the experience of showing a bird and it is my clubs show-ED diploma show this Sunday, so I'm torn between taking birds which I feel are totally out of their depth but just take them anyway. I don't mind if they come last, I just don't like the thought of people thinking geez this breeder has no idea what a show bird should be, when in actual fact I know they're not the best. Anyway I thought I may post a couple of photo to get some opinions of what the forum member think. I have posted photos of the whole show cage so you can get an idea of their size (small) and then a couple of closer photos. Thanks I will appreciate any thoughts you may have and yes you can be honest, its called constructive criticism. I beleive this young bird would be classed under UBC Normal Sky Blue and he's a cock. and this is a UBC Normal Green Hen Also have I got the classing right? Thank you for the feed back.
