okay Thankyou KAZ The french moult babies have feathers growing, especially the eldest. He did have just white feathers on his chest but now he has green feathers sprouting. And the grey green opaline now has tail feathers sprouting, where as before her tail was a stump. Maybe its possible that they all just had a stress moult like you first thought? And are now growing their feathers back.

Hi all The eggs in summers nest box are 10 - 16 days old. Originally I thought only the first two would be fertile because chomper died 2 days before she started laying, but now I think they are all fertile. They are all white, where as if they were infertile they would be pink/clear. Here is a picture: Do you think they are fertile?? I was going to transfer the first two eggs (if fertile) into another nest because I didnt want summer to have to raise the babies alone. Do you think I should transfer the eggs to another nestbox or can she raise the babies her own? Thanks Here are some avairy pics. On the right is the youngest of chomper and summers babies, settling in well. Both chomper and summers babies. Sunny Grunt and bull Overweight bluey.

Hi The budgies are all going well. The 2 I caught are eating and drinking and have no sign of disease. The 4 babies from summer and chompers nest are now in the avairy and loving it. The 3 french moult babies are now in a seperate cage and I dont know what to do with them. If I leave them in the cage it will get boring for them eventually but if I put them in the avairy many things can happen eg: The other budgies can steal their food, The quails could hurt them etc,, What should I do? They cannot fly so they waddle around like ducks. The youngest (the blue one) sits in the egg food dish all day to protect it, its funny to see. The 2 cockatiels are in their own cage now for 3 months and then I will put them in the avairy, they can both fly and eat. The yellow and green wild budgie I caught is going well. He is eating and drinking and no sign of disease. Thanks

Hi all I rescued a yellow and green budgie 3 weeks ago and now the 2 today and yesterday. The two violets are eating well. I have called everyone in our street and not one of them own budgies. You would think the budgies are from close by as they were both still together when I found them. Here is the new one (I'm guessing she) 1. Can you tell the age of these budgies? I think they are young. 2. The babies both have a tint of yellow in their feathers... can that mean they are yellowface? 3. Can someone tell me the gender and mutation of the second caught budgie Thankyou all.

I caught him!!!!!!!! I woke up this morning and he was in a 3 metre high tree. I moved his mates cage under the tree and after an hour of sitting and waiting, He finally came down and sat on top of the cage. He is a violet spangle baby, I am sure they are related. Do I need to put him in a different cage for quarantine or can he be quarantined in the same cage as his mate? I am so happy. I will post pics soon. I have put an add in the local paper and I will ring up the neighbours.

Its almost dark here though, should I leave him outside all night? If all my other birds chirp, will the budgie in the tree come down to the cages?

I spotted another budgie near my avairy. I bet these 2 are both related, they are both violet pieds. The one outside is about 6 meters up in a tree and I dont know how to catch him. I put about 5 different bird bathsof seed and water down on the ground and now all I can do is wait. Do you think he can survive in the wild for atleast one night? I hope he comes down and I'm able to catch him.

Hi I used about a quarter of the mixture and got a large lunch box full of it. Your not going to beleive this but just before I was walking out to check on the breeding birds and... A pet budgie was sitting on top of the cage. He is very tame and He flew straight to me when he saw me. He looks to be very young, he still has the bars on his head. I cant tell if he is dominant or recessive pied. This is the second budgie that is not mine that I've caught in 3 weeks.. I will post pictures soon.

Thankyou very much again KAZ for the egg and biscuit recipe. This is the first time my birds have ever touched the egg. They get a hard boiled egg 4 times a week with vegies but they never touch the egg. Now they eat it on a daily basis.

Thankyou everyone for the help. I already knew she was opaline so I didnt worry about posting the back of her, I just needed to know if she was dilute or not. Thankyou all

Thankyou Maesie. Is anyone able to tell me the mutation of this baby. I am 90% sure she is skyblue opaline. But her blue seems diluted so maybe she is dilute?

^He likes the eggfood so much he has decided to make a nest in it.- Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
Hi all The babies are doing very well, all are eating by themselves. I have been advised to not let neon and thunder breed again. What are the odds of their only 3 babies having french moult/feather defect? Are the babies just unlucky or can both parents have a gene that transmits french moult? Fair enough if it was only one baby in the nest but all 3 have it.. - December Budgie Of The Month
