  3. That's great news. hope it isn's sick... looking forward to hearing good news
  4. thats to old for my liking... some people in england pair very young cocks too... I'm not going to criticise... I just wouldn't do it...
  5. You gave up a spangle MB?? wow! was she a pet type or show type?
  6. Thanks Budgie88 I knew it was around here somewhere
  7. they are red rings and I believe it is a 7 or 8 year rotation... (we're on red again now)
  8. My wife said she is jealous, she wants a new laptop too... Can you believe it she is actuallyu sitting here and reading the budgie forum!!! I'm winning!!!!
  9. They look great birdluv. Thanks for contributing to the best thread on the BBC as voted by me!!! (I'm not biased)
  10. I was going to say they were both opaline... maybe the blue bird is normal though... I'm hopeless with opaline I still haven't figured out what it is that is different, I just know it looks different...
  11. How often are you changing the pairings shannon?
  12. I've read that too budgie88, and then I've also seen it work... I think its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other... In an ideal world everyone would be able to have a bird room that is attached to the aviary that has both indoor and outdoor flights, but unfortunately that's not always possible... I know I'd prefer having my birds caged breeding in an aviary then be colony breeding...
  13. I just use norton... I've gotta say I was pretty reluctant to go with them because I've only heard bad reports, but since I used them I haven't had a problem...
  14. Thats what I would do.. you don't have to have the cage outside the aviary if you are worried they will fly away, if you can put a shelf up inside the aviary and put the cages there that would work as well... You will find that your hens that arn't breeding at the moment will begin to breed. (that's if they are in condition) I will say this, with 3 boxes in an aviary with 8 pairs you've done amazingly well not to have any deaths That's just boys being boys. As long as your doves arn't getting angry with them, and everyone is getting along it doesn't matter. I wouldn't expect a dovgie if thats what your thinking
  15. they look good I like Rocky the best Hope you can get the problem with cloud fixed..
  16. yes she is colony breeding there are 2 ways you can breed, colony and closed. Colony breeding is when you have nest boxes up in the avairy and just let them fend for themselves, closed breeding is when you take a pair and put them in a cage by themselves and allow them to breed in a nest box attached to the cage. Most people here practice closed breeding as it tends to have less problems... back to your birds. I would say that the other hens are either to old to breed or they don't feel safe breeding...
  17. I couldn't rightly say... are you sure that they arn't mating with the other hens? The hens might not feel that they have a place to lay and so they arn't producing eggs... I don't know what your set up is so its hard to tell...
  18. I think Daz has an 18 day chart as well.
  19. definately looks like a green series bird from where I am sitting. you can't tell visually (to my knowledge anyway) if a bird is split for blue...
  20. Look on the bright side, you'll be able to enjoy the inner health plus, isn't that the one with the equivalent of 25 tubs of yogurt in 1 capsule or something? just remembered its the powdered form, ignore me
  21. a very good article splat  Thanks.
  22. Thanks for that splat... I have an image in my head of your finger tip in the salad and blood squirting out of your finger... not the nicest picture to have in ones head just before going to eat... thank you so much!!!
  23. I know how it feels to loose a wheel driving down the road, I was on my way to Sydney one year in the middle of the night and all of a sudden the back of the car drops and starts scraping on the ground. I pull over and find out that my mag wheel is gone... The mechanic that I got the car towed to said the only way it could've happened was if the nuts were loose, but I checked them before I left, he reckoned someone had probably tried to steal the tire while we were at the truck stop and then realised it needed a lock nut and just left them there... not a plesent feeling doing a 110 and then losing a wheel... luckily minimal damage was done to the car itself..
  24. I'm sure I posted in this thread before. Anyways, I'd agree with lochlan too. Is there a chance that she didn't sit straight away on the other eggs and they might show signs of fertility in a day or two?
