  1. How many breeding boxes do you have in your aviary and are they all at the same height or are some up high and some down low?
  2. He'll be fine without her. I take it you are colony breeding (breeding in an aviary and not with each couple separated into cabinets). If you're not careful you may find she goes into another hens nest and kills/throws out the chicks so that she can use the nest... I'd be moving her on...
  3. Hi all, I came across this article while I was searching for something online, thought you might like a read. http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/16840322 Cheers.
  4. NickNack was a crack up. He ended up starting another forum actually but I haven't seen him online for a long time. Hopefully he still has his budgies.
  5. Hahaha! Can't you just click the "Forgot your password" button and then have them email you a new password?
  6. Yeah, definitely a consideration. I spoke with someone who has purchased them and they liked them, just said that adding a breeding box was a bit of a hassle in the beginning.
  7. Yeah, 23rd of Feb according to the website.
  8. Yeah, I think the hen has been playing the field but it is possible that the cock in the photo is split ino.
  9. Hi guys, just wondering if you've used, or seen anyone use, these cages. They are for sale on eBay and look pretty classy. Cheers, http://www.gtmall.com.au/stack-vertical-bird-breeding-cage-with-center-divider.html?
  10. Mum isn't a normal green, she's a yellow or golden faced blue which causes the "sea foam" look and so looks green, if she was a normal green the chick couldn't be blue... The 2 chicks that are white with yellow are yellow/golden faced albinos or "creaminos" Your cousin is colony breeding so there is no way to be sure that the green cock is the father. Does your cousins have any albino/lutinos in the aviary? As for the colouring of the bird, it doesn't look like it's got all it's feathers yet, once it goes through its first moult I think the feathers that look brown will be gone.
  11. corruption
  12. I'd say it's french moult... On a side note, did you attempt to breed some bush budgies back in the day? How did it turn out for ya?

  14. Hi BUDGIE LOV3R I seem to recall you when I was on last. This place is a great little forum and it always had a good close knit community.
  15. To upload pictures you need to have a Photobucket account or similar (basically any website that with allow you to save photo albums/edit and the like. there is a topic on here somewhere about it... Let me see what I can find. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/index.php?action=artikel&cat=1&id=243&artlang=en there it is! The reasoning behind Exhibition Budgies being called "English" is because it was the English that first started exhibiting them, although other European countries have certainly assisted as well. Some people find the term extremely annoying considering that they are an Australian bird because - whether they are Pet or Exhibition type - it's still the same bird. The one I really don't get is "American." They weren't the first to keep pet type birds so I can't see why pet types are refered to as such... Anywho. Hopefully you figure out how to post pics soon. I'd love to see your set up. Did you contact the local Budgerigar Society over in Lincolnshire?
  16. G'day guys, Dont know if this has been done on here before, but it can be good fun. Just post the first word that pops into your head when you read the last word posted. Only rule is you can't post two in a row. When I've seen this done before it goes on for hundreds of pages so hopefully we can achieve something similar. I'll get it started: Budgie
  17. Hi everyone, Well I'm not really new here, I've been around for quite sometime. Back in the day I used to come on here 3 or 4 times a day and there would be pages of new threads. But alas, I've been away and by the looks of it most people have moved away and others have come. So to help me catch up here's a few questions I'd like to know about you all: How long have you been a member of the forum for? 5 March 2008 so that makes it around 6 years and 11 months. Or is my math wrong? I was always terrible at maths. How long have you kept budgies for? Currently don't have any, had some a couple of years back then moved, changed jobs and moved again. We are moving again soon and hopefully when that happens I'll get some more... HOPEFULLY. What is your favourite mutation? Lacewing. A well marked Lacewing just looks great. That said, I think Normals are completely underrated as well. Blue or Green Series? Hmmm... I gotta say blue... unless it's an ino or similar, then its Green. How many birds do you keep at the moment? Zero, Zip, Zilch, Nada, Not A Thing. What do you prefer Pet or Show type? Show. What got you into budgies? My neighbour had an aviary when I was a Kid, it was amazing and since the first day I laid eyes on them I've always loved them. Well thats all about me that's worth knowing. Feel free to add questions if you can think of any. Cheers!
  18. You can't get show birds in Quebec? Really? Aren't you allowed to bring them in from the US? Do you have any pictures you can upload to show your build Cliffmas?
  19. Yeah it pretty amazing what the percentages are when you start messing around with them... As a show breeder the more you know about a birds pedigree the better it is for you so that you can be more certain of what you are going to get. You might have a Spangle line and an albino line etc. etc. As a pet breeder it's not really an issue and more often than not they want variety so it helps that way. It's one of those things that both can use for totally different purposes.
