  1. GPS will be fine Even if it takes you the 'Short cut' and its the long way at least you will know you are going to get there... You'll be fine let us know how the auction goes...
  2. And you are a boy so maybe stop trying to do other things at the same time :hap::hap::rofl::hap::rofl::hap: Brilliant! But Nubbly please I would prefer 'Wee Lad' over the term 'boy' for future reference :hap:
  3. Wow great looking hens!
  4. thats terrible. Not nice for all that are involved...
  5. Its genetics, if it was uncomplicated we would've been cloneing a Loooooooong time ago :fear But yes Nubbly it is complicated and I have a small brain so I can't understand it... I can read the words but they just won't file away in my brain properly :fear
  6. I would but I have my sons 3rd birthday... the wife would slaughter me... :fear
  7. Splat, Laverton is EASY to get to once you are at the airport... You get on the Freeway going towards the city and get onto the Western Ring Rd (another Freeway) follow the signs to Geelong which will, and then take the Laverton Exit. Its really not hard and its even easier than my directions make it out to be :fear
  8. I think Goldenface does not have Mutations but YF does... and I think Goldenface is also called Australian Yellowface... Thats what I think I've learnt from this thread...
  9. I can totally understand your frustration Renee, if you pair a Spangle to Spangle you would hope for at least 1 df... The tables are helpful but I'm sure it can be frustrating when you don't get what you want...
  10. best bet is to try and find a quail forum...
  11. Well thats it then, at least the WA members of the forum will understand it come Sunday :celebrate: just kidding as long as you post a detailed transcript of the meeting I am happy to see it sanctioned as an official BBC event :celebrate:
  12. I've given up on understanding any of the YF genes... I hope I never have to deal with them
  13. I can't go to Laverton... I had it in my planner but its my sons birthday party... enjoy the Auction let us know how it goes for ya
  14. The birds look great. Welcome to the forum.
  15. Awesome news there Renee, congratulations!
  16. I was talking about X as in my young chick that I lost. Thanks for the offer. I won't be getting any birds for at least 7 months as I am building a house and don't want to build a whole set up only to pull it down or worse leave it behind...
  17. I wouldn't put your new chicks in there with the nest boxes, you don't want young birds breeding...
  18. :fingerscrossed:  I was getting sad constantly looking at my picture of X :hap: So I put this picture up :D meanwhile back in the how to help a beginner thread... If everyone in the hobby was as helpful as this forum I reckon budgie breeding would be a heap more popular...
  19. do you have nestboxes or anywhere they might think could be a nest?? if you do then yes there is always the chance they will breed in the colony...
  20. There is a pet shop in South Melbourne that has some nice exhibition birds come in every now and then, every time I go past it I pop in just to see if they have any of his/her birds in... they are all rung, most of them are around 2 years old... to be honest though I'm not sure that I would by from the pet shop... I'm going to jot down the ring code one day and find out who the breeder is and then see if I can contact them direct...
  21. :fingerscrossed:  :hap: I'm scarier when I'm not pulling faces
  22. I have only ever heard nice things said about PT so I am looking forward to joining the club. Just on what I wrote before, Some clubs, even all clubs, may have the things that I was looking for, as a person that has never been in a club I don't know what goes on, or how they work. I mean I know they have shows, monthly meetings and they all like Budgies but other than that I don't know how they work so if you read my post and think, 'who does this bloke think he is...' it wasn't my intention to come across like that, I just was saying what I would like to see in a club when I join. :fingerscrossed:
  23. I did a quick search on this forum and came up with: Total Male: 158 Total Female: 226 Total Members:1701?? When you do a member search there are 1707 but according to the forum there are only 1701 right now... That makes for a whole lot of 'Not Sures!'
  24. hmmm I've never thought of that before... I've got a travel cage and it just has some thin plywood sticking out to block it... that doesn't sound to secure now that I think about it...
  25. Unfortunately that's one major problem with colony breeding, good idea to remove the parents after the chicks have fledged, just until all the chicks have fledged... once all the chicks have fledged take out all the nest box's and you can reintroduce all the parents again I wouldn't just remove the nest boxes because you may find the parents who's chicks have fledged might try gaining access to another nest box that is already taken... so I think removing parents like you are doing is the best way are you going to stop breeding all together or just stop colony breeding?
