How many breeding boxes do you have pride? are they all at the same level? Any chance of us seeing pictures of your setup?

Budgies will have babies as long as they have somewhere to lay them and they are in the mood... Thats not necessarily what's good for them though... As others have already said, budgies will breed themselves to death if given the chance...

just don't use a flash... she'll be fine as long as you're not taking photo's every couple of hours.

I laughed when I read this. Sorry but I did. The truth is some years you have good results, other years you have heart breaking results. The trick is to be prepared, prepare your birds by getting them in the healthiest possible condition, then be prepared should something not go according to plan. I think it would be a disservice if people didn't point out the bad side of breeding (losing chicks and/ or parents) people should be informed about the good and the bad side of things. Sure no one likes the bad side but its there. Better prepare for it while we can.

Just a thought with lettuce, it isn't the greatest vegetable to give them as its nutrients arn't great, mainly water. Try giving it something else and add a calcium additive to your water too. It will help the chicks develop. Welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing lots of pictures of your birds!

So many beautiful Birds... How many birds do you think all up you and Ken will have to cull when you move to the new house? Poor birds, the ones you do cull will feel like they're moving from the Hilton down to Formula1 Hotels. (Not that there is anything wrong with Formula1 Hotels, they're just a lot cheaper, and the rooms tend to be smaller, to stay in than the Hilton... )

I have no idea what would cause this to happen but from the looks of his head he is going through a moult (and that could be due to the stress of being sick) but I would agree with KAZ, you've acted promptly and I think you should feel good about your actions. Birds get sick sometimes even when we try our hardest to make sure they are in a healthy safe environment. Do what you are doing, keep your eye's on him and monitor how he comes along.
