It is pretty amazing how through selective breeding over a relatively short (compared to the whole earth lifespan) period we have seen such a major size difference... Any luck getting those pics Kaz?

Fantastic pics... Again, I really like the aviary. Looks great... don't forget to put pics up when you get all the breeding cages into the L shaped section... I don't think you moved them as they were on eggs right?

I've said it before and I'll say it again... The variety you have in your birds is fantastic... you said that they are ugly sometimes when they moult... hmmm I'm yet to see that.

Thats hillarious... don't tell the petshops they'll start selling budgie purfume and aftershave...

Welcome Welcome Welcome. Let me start by saying your budgie is very cute. He (I'll call him that until someone comes along and tells you he's a hen) Do you know what sort of budgie it is, if not do you? There are plenty of people on this forum that can give you alsorts of help from basic things to really simple things. I'm sure your dad would know a fair bit from his budgie breeding days, but if he's stumped feel free to ask, they really are a nice bunch around here... You may find that the reason he isn't as "quirky" is because he isn't familiar wih his surrpoundings at the moment... they can take a little while to settle down. I'm sure he'll pick up.. just be his friend and he'll warm to you I'm sure... Where did you buy him from? Pet Shop or breeder? I totally understand you not liking cockroaches... I'd probablly spray the cage with some safe cleaning product that you can get from a pet supply store or petshop... just ask them what they suggest... I'm not sure if that will stop the cockroached but it would make me feel cleaner :hap:

Thanks for the updates Chrissie, you are doing a great job with Percy. It seems like this vet was alot more thorough than your previous ones.. I'm crossing my fingers for you as well. ahh.. there you can see it... still a nice looking bird though.

I guess it should be possible... My guess would be take your smallest han and smallest cock and breed them... then line breed until they were super small... as for medical problems... have no idea... is it possible that they could get so small the egg size would be to large?? I think the size of the egg would just decrease.. wouldn't it?
