Raw Whole Wheat (husk Removed) To Budgies
Thanks Neat, Ravengypsy and Kaz. Neat and Ravengypsy, how do you people serve wheats to your Budgies....doesn't it hard to Budgies beak to crack them. Kaz, before initiating this thread I have tried giving my Budgies plain wheat soaked in plain water overnight, but still I see that wheats are not that softened enough. Also none of the Budgies touched them. Also what is the best time (morning or evening) to serve our Budgies with this softened food and can we leave this softened food in the cage overnight or needs to removed after say 4 hours like soft food.

Need Good Regular Seed Mix Ingredients
Thanks Chrysocome, Norm and Feathers. Chrysocome, I have searched in google immediately after seeing Daz post, but the problem was that I see many different pictures for the same seed variety name and so I got totally confused to figure out which one was the right one. Also the pictures were not that clear. I was looking for some clear closeup pictures to be of very similar to that of I have posted in my another threads Thread1, Thread2, and Thread3 - Sunflower Seed. Still I am not sure what is the exact seed variety name in my above mentioned threads (Thread1 and Thread2). Also in some other thread I read that Budgies refuse to eat Linseed and Rapeseed, does any one has some ideas or would like to comment on this. When I searched in google, I have seen pictures of Panicum millet and white/yellow millet.....which all looked to me the same and unable to differentiate between them. Could some one tell me or post some clear closeup pictures of these two showing the clear visual differences. Is french millet, white/yellow millet, and french white millet are all the same seed variety or each seed variety are different? (i.e.) is french millet = white millet = yellow millet = french white millet Thanks

Chick Problem - Unable To Stand On Its Legs
Recently I have met with one of the local breeder and during our discussion he has mentioned that very recently he had come across a situation that in his colony breeding 2 of the hens had problems with territorial (i.e.) for the same nest box, so he has to separate one hen (without her mate) to a small cage along with a nest box. This hen started laying eggs and her final clutch size was 6 eggs, this was her first clutch it seems. Finally after incubation period, only one chick hatched outoff this complete clutch. Hen was feeding this single chick, but unfortunately check has died when it was around 2 to 3 weeks old. Before this has happened, the breeder has noticed it seems that chick was not that big in size of what a 2 to 3 week usual/normal chick should be of size and chick was unable to stand on its own legs, always lying to one side of its body in the nest box (like human sleeping posture), but also he stated that couple of times chick was trying to stand up on its legs by moving its legs continuosly in the air like pedaling bicycling but unable to make it. Same we have discussed with a local general vet and what he suspects was that chick legs were not having enough strength, this happens when there is a vitamin deficiency. So he adviced us to start giving vimeral, vitamin supplements. Start with by giving continuous 3 days and after which either alternate days or weekly once. You can find the details of vimeral, liquid vitamin supplement medicine details at the below link: http://www.poulvet.com/vetproducts/medicin....php?mediid=424 So I thought of posting it here and know your valuable opinions, advices and suggestions on this. In addition, I have the following questions related to this: 1) Initially what do you think could be the reason for this situation? 2) If identified this well before, is there any treatment we might have treated and saved this poor chick's life? 3) What steps we have to take to prevent from this happening in future. Thanks, Karthik

Does Over Dosage Of Liquid Supplements Is Bad To Budgies Health
Planning to start providing Budgies with liquid supplements of vitamins, B-Complex and calcium by mixing it in the drinking water. Just wanted to know whether mixing more of these liquid supplements does have any bad impacts on Budgies health. Also can we mix all these three liquid supplements (vitamins, B-Complex and calcium) together and then mix to Budgie drinking water or instead we have to give it each supplement separately on three different days. Thanks

Budgies Need A Good Diet All The Time.
Here in india we get cron on the cob only in some reasons and not always. Also once we remove the husk from the raw corn on the cob, hardly for say around 4 hours to half a day only it stays tender/soft.....after which it will become hard, may be due to the local climatic conditions. Any ideas or suggestions on this. Also during other seasons when corn on cob is unavailable, can we serve the raw cracked pop cron?

Can We Give Sunflower Seeds
Thanks Norm and Lisa. Okay last weekend I got some sunflower seeds with shell to try it out and added very few say around 10 sunflower seeds to the regular seed feed, but I see none of my Budgies like to eat them and my father was saying that it might be very hard to bite for budgies beaks....so we have to crack them and mix to regular seed feed. But I am sure all you people give it without cracking sunflower seeds, any advice or opinions on this will be great. Also I hope that Budgies needs some time to get used to the new seed varieties. Norm could you please provide me with the ingredients list along with the each seed variety quantity mixed, which will be mentioned on the outer cover of your readymade budgie mix. I have managed to get few pictures of Sunflower seeds. Mixed Striped and Black Sunflower Seed Striped Sunflower Seed Black Sunflower Seed Note: Last picture size is still showing as 1632 x 1224, but where as in photobucket it shows size as 448 x 336...not sure what is wrong.

Limestone Flour...
Thanks lisa for opening up this topic, even I had all these questions to Kaz after going through her post in another Topic. I think 1ml to 1.5ml should be okay and alternate days. Regarding hydrated limestone flour, last weekend I have enquired same thing with one of the general Vet and what he told me was that we can mix very very little of limestone flour to the drinking water and give it to birds. I am very much sure if I am wrong, Kaz or some other member will correct me. :yellowhead:

What Is This Millet Variety Called, Picture Attached
Thanks Norm and Daz, if possible will try to get you another better picture of this. Since I don't have a digital camera yet, soon planning for one and till then I need to fully depend on my friends. Norm last 2 weekends I went out to local market in search of few seed varities (Canary, French Millet, Jap Millet, Panicum, Hulled oats (grouts), and niger), which Daz suggested in another topic. But looks like no one local store person in market here is knowing of Canary, French Millet, Jap Millet, and Panicum by these names and regarding Hulled Oats, they finally end up showing me rice or wheat with hull. The one showed in the picture is the only plane seed which is fully fed to budgies here by all the breeders or budgie owners. Norm if you don't mind when you have some time, can you get some close and clear pictures of few base seed varities you feed to your birds, so that I will try showing these pictures to the local store person and see if I can get hold of some seed variety for my birds. Thanks :hap:
