Possibly Sick Budgie?
Check out the link in my signature... that will guide you in posting some photos. Some more information would be helpful too... what does his poo look like? Overall conditions, diet/appetite, etc... Thanks

Is Little Dusty A Boy Or Girl
You also don't need to separate them either... don't give them a breeding box or anything that looks like one and they wont breed. (good work on the photo too)

Stupid Question
Follow the link in my signature below... you were correct, you can't post direct from your computer, photobucket is the go and you need to post the IMG code.

How To Handraise A Budgie
I personally don't believe you have to remove chicks from their parents to get a well handled/tame budgie. I'd leave them with their parents and just handle them often. I was able to have 5 lovely hand tamed budgies when I last bred and never took them away from their parents... Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth...

My Friends Budgie Is Vomiting
Sorry to hear about this poor bird. He sounds very sick. Birds don't show illness until they are very unwell. He really needs to see an avian vet. He probably needs some tests done, like a crop wash to find out what's going on. We can't diagnose over the internet... we are not vets. Maybe even try calling the closest Avian vet and try and speak to them (not just the reception). I wouldn't be just trying any medication... he needs a proper diagnosis...

Treats?
I'd take the millet out and use that. They shouldn't really have access to it all the time and if he loves it, it will be an awesome treat for training.

Strange Feather Deterioration
I hope you get a solution soon Dave. If they are mites, can they come from wild birds?

Bird Perch
hehe... That's great. How nice of her to take the time to respond. Stock up on lots of different sized ones... Thin (where your budgies toes would nearly touch underneath the perch) to thick (where they will only go down the sides). That way you have have lots of different sizes to swap and change to clean etc... Make sure when you trim them to size that that will run from the front to the back (not side ways). This will give your guy more exercise. I think you already did that with your current ones though. Try and get ones with rough bark too, he'll love to rip it all off. Also see if you can get some thinner branches with leaves. Then he can have some leaves to shred. My aviary birds love getting their branches of Grevilla and Bottlebrush weekly.

Budgie "blankets" And Snugglehuts
I'd just make sure his cage is not in a draft, and if it's really cold you can keep the cage covered (leaving the front open). He'll be fine... really

Bird Perch
okay, cool... If the trees themselves look healthy enough it should be okay... but yes, you can never be to careful. He'll love some nice branches to rip apart too... lots of leaves

Could Not Stop Myself.
Perfect name... I love my Willow too

Bird Perch
I usually scrub them down with a vinegar solution, then rinse off and leave in the sun to dry (although the last step may be hard as it's winter lol) If they're on your friends property though they should be able to tell you if they have been treated.

Bird Perch
Agree with Kaz... I had those rope ones and they were good. I have also had mineral perches in the past. They seemed to like to eat them... but be careful though as they will get color all over their faces from them lol. As to the branches, do you know anyone with trees??? Also, if their are old branches on the ground, I wouldn't be too worried in taking them. Your cage is small (in comparison to an aviary) so you don't need them too big anyway. My birds like the rough ones where they can pick the bark off. It's also important to get varying thickness'. It's better for their feet.

Thin Budgie Problem
I'm glad you were able to rescue him. I'd start by ditching the bread. He has no need for it. Keep his seed supply up, add some hulled oat and even sunflower seeds. Hopefully the scat works for him and he feels better soon.

Budgie Breeding Pleas Help, Newie
Good move on separating them... people have lost budgies due to similar circumstances, even with a nest full of chicks! As long as they're all in breeding condition (there's some information on here with how to tell this, or get some clear close up photos of their cere's with out using the flash, and we may be able to help you) I'd leave the next boxes in with them and let them try again. I'd also be inclinded to leave the eggs for longer before throwing them out. It's sometimes hard to see the early signs of a fertile egg, especially if you haven't see them before. Also, being new to breeding, we have lots of awesome information on the forum about breeding, foods to feed while breeding etc, etc, etc... When I first joined BBC I learnt so much here, and still to this day I learn new things. Read, read, read and ask questions if you're not sure. Welcome and good luck!

Needs A Mate?
Never knew that!... My Member name is actually from my middle name which is 'mae'. I was named after my Great Grandmother. No African history here.
-
Needs A Mate?
Nope... I'm not into physical violance... It's clear we are not going to agree on what was/had been done, so we'll leave it there. Afrikaans name???

Needs A Mate?
okay... so because I don't agree with what you have done, you're now making assumptions of why I keep budgies and what I do with them. Not that it's any of your business because this topic is not about me, it's about what you have done... BUT I have an aviary which houses 5 budgies. I started with 4, and over the years I have bred three clutches. I have kept all but two of the babies. They went to two friends who wanted a pet budgie. I bred to keep the babies. NONE of my babies are un-wanted. Some of my budgies/babies have since passed, and I now have 5. I do not breed willy nilly and dispose of the budgies I don't want. I'm a RESPONSIBLE pet owner and would never do that! You don't have to be a show breeder to breed budgies. I bred them because I wanted to, and as I said before, kept them. This thread is not about pet shops, people who buy from them or how they keep their budgies... It's about what you did when you bought a cage bred budgie and released it into the wild. Which despite everything you have written here, I PERSONALLY still see as irresponsible.
