  1. Awwwwwww. That is such a cute photo! Congrats thus far. I hope all your hard work pays off and your little one makes it. Sending lots of good luck and love to you and your baby!

    Exciting!!! Congratulations!
  3. :hap: ... sorry, I've had a loooooooooong week and I'm tired!!!
  4. Just keep at it. You'll find he will eat them eventually. Some budgies take longer than others, but their curiosity usually gets the better of them. Try varying the way you serve them, sprinkle seed on top of them, cut them up, grate them, on a cabab (as you've already done). Mine also love fresh corn on the cob. You'll have to be willing to go through a far amount of food, so maybe don't offer to much at a time. Good luck and keep us posted.
  5. Great news Deb. I'm glad things have settled and Henry is standing up for himself. Here's to a happy aviary.
  6. Thanks everyone. It does suck a little about the birds, but maybe down the track?!?! and... I think I can work my way around getting an inside bird/s . As to the very important question.... YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be getting the internet. I couldn't live without the BBC
  7. :budgiedance: You guessed it... I got a unit. I get the keys in 3 weeks tomorrow!!! I'm very excited. It is a two bedroom flat, with plenty of room. I can have my lizards, but not my birds. It is however only 2 minutes from my house, so they'll be staying at home and I'll look after them there. I will be pushing to be alowed to have some inside birds. I have a feeling the avairy wasn't allowed because of noise issues for other tenants and possible the errection of a structure?!?! I'm going to sign the lease tomorrow, so I'll check it out more than. My theory is that I wont be here for ever, so leaving them at home is not a massive deal. If it becomes too much, I'd have to look at selling them, but I'll deal with that if it comes to it.... and I know there are a few local members I'd trust to take on my babies. Um..... so yeah, very pumped Dad and I are having a few ales  and take away tea to celebrate tonight....
  8. That's wonderful news Maesie, I'm sure your Gran will feel more "at home" being at her local hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Absolutely. Her husband (my Grandpa) can also go and spend time with her, which will do them both the world of good!
  9. More good news... My Granny is back in the country at her local hospital. She is obviously doing well for them to send her back 'home'. So we are all very relived and thankful. :parrot:
  10. 7 Eggs!!!!! Yah She'll be busy if they all hatch... especailly if she's still laying. I'm sure she'll manage fine though. They seem to know what they can handle.
  11. Still not I think there is one dead in shell and definately two blanks, so, if they were the first three laid, saturday could be the day ... In theory that is!!!!! lol... I'm trying not to be too impatient. The first day when I went out to check, I had my camera in hand, now I'm not taking it with me at first, in case I jinks them!!! Crackle is being a great Mum though. She hears me coming now, and is usually out of the nest box when I open the door. If not, a soft tap and she moves out of the road no problems. I hope for her sake, she gets to raise some babies. It does crack me up though, as when I'm in the bird room checking in on the happy little family, I turn around and there is a line of onlookers, peering through the wire... usually lead by my cheecky budgies... I can just hear them saying- is there anything there yet??? Move out the road, I can't see...
  12. I'd put her back in the avairy. If she's going crazy, she's tecnically not 'resting' anyway, and would probably be better of with her friends.
  13. Congratulations It is a very cute photo!
  14. My Granny had the procedure today to insert the stint to drain the bile from her pancreas. It went as planned, and she is doing okay... So, if she continues to go well, she'll be home in her local hospital by the end of the week. Fingers crossed and big prayers for her
  15. Happy Birthday Boris. I hope you had a great day and love your new presents

  18. Adorable Sunnie!
  19. Breeding in winter is not a big issue, if you have a suitable area for them to get out of the cold. If you are wanting to colony breeding, and putting nest boxes in your aviary, only having two nest boxes with that amount of hens is a disaster waiting to happen. You should always have twice as many nest boxes as hens. There is also the chance of fights still happening even if you do, but this should lessen them. I personally would not colony breed, as I am not home enough to watch them. I only cabinet breed. There is plenty of information on all of the above stuff in the FAQ's. Do a search there and check it out.
  20. What a cleaver boy
  21. Great news Deb. I hope you get what you wish for
  22. I know!!!!! Two are definately empty, but if all the others hatch, she's goning to be a very busy first time Mum! Atleast her partner is very attentive.
  23. Awww, they are looking cute as
  24. It seems as thought she's stopping at 9, which is quite enough! Here's a picture I took tonight. I'm a bit unsure of the second egg from the left... maybe dead in shell? I'll leave it and see what happens. I didn't number the eggs so I'm not sure which is the oldest etc... The first was due today, but I don't think she started sitting tight straight away, so who knows.
