  3. Thats very interesting! Thanks for the tip It would be great for thoes who have to travel great distances to get their seed. Me too MB - I use rubbish bins - mine hold 40kg which last me about 2-3 months at the moment
  4. They look lovely I hope little Rocky makes it - he looks like he will be very pretty too
  5. There are some proud thistles, growing in amongst my hubby's prize iris!! - any inappropriate spot and a thistle WILL grow They are about to flower *image deleted* And what about these ugly things.... *image deleted* Norm, Your article sounds like it will be very interesting!! I look forward to reading it when its done
  6. Weeds are only weeds if they are not wanted in your garden I like the idea of keeping a few (out of the way) plants a trimming them I feed grass to my birds, roots (with Lots of dirt) and all. They love it and i sware the soil is good for their immune system
  7. Thanks for the warning - I will toss those - I am SURE I will find more lurking in my garden So you only feed leaves and stems, not base and roots too ???
  8. (((Biggest hugs))) I am so pleased he is doing okay - what a tough time for you all. and i will send lots of positive thoughts to Lucas and your family.
  9. WOW!! Thanks for all your replies guys I pulled some thistles out of the garden yesterday, but i haven't tossed them yet, so i might give them a wash and see what the birds think
  10. But i thought Libby had a Slate
  11. "WATCH OUT SKY!!!!!!!! HOMER SIMPSON IS GOING TO GET YOOOOOOOUUUUU!!!!!" :hap: VERY Funny Photo hahaha 1.Thank you for who told me too worm her it worked wonder's she's all better. No probs we are all hear to help 2. How will I get the green stain of her butt? As long as its just a stain, time will make it go away. it might even stay until she moults 3.If you are wondering why Lumina isn't out it's cuz she scared to come out her cage she came out once and went back in. Every bird is different, she might just take longer to adjust to her new play mate. It's always best to introduce them slowly 4. Is Sky cinnamon I tryed to get a better picture and she 's with Bailey to so I hope it helps YES!! and very pretty 5. If the hens beak is going kinda orange/tan is that going into breeding condition? I can't really see to be sure, perhaps a closeup of her face to help
  12. I hope you have a brilliant weekend and everything goes to plan **virtually carries boxes for you**
  13. I'm so sorry for your losses :hap: I agree with sailorwolf - an avian vet needed. You can take the deceased birds with you and they can run some tests to see what happened. Good luck and keep us posted.
  14. So does that mean Thistles wont make a budgie sick if they are given to them on occasion, but are possibly not good if they are given thistles too often.... Mine haven't had any thistles before, but I am very good at growing thistles and sour sobs, and i wanted to make sure that i wasn't throwing away a valuable nutritional food when I did my weeding.
  15. When I was growing up my mum told me that any plant with white sap is toxic! This advice (true or false) has stuck with me..... but i have heard mention of Milk Thistles being given to budgies. So are Thistles safe for budiges :hap: ????
  16. With her being so out of condition i would put her back into the aviary and give her lots of good food and vitamins to get her in tip top shape. Also looks like there could be the beginnings of scaly face (??) and also looks like she is moulting heavily. Perfect time for her to have some R&R (rest and recuperation) You should get some nice chicks from her when she is in condition 4 (ish) years is normally the age limit for breeding hens so pair her carefully so you can make the most of her time edit: Snap Kaz hehe :hap:

We had some wind here last night too, but my aviary is attached to our pergola and not going anywhere!
