Well And Truly Plucked
Aww the poor little babies. :happy-dancing: Hope they fully recover too. It's always scary as some follicles may get damaged and then the feathers dont regrow making the bird look scruffy for life. Fingers crossed all recover as well as the first lot.

My New Adventure
I have always loved lacewings. I love both the yellow and white variety of the lacewing, but i have never owned one. I could never bring myself to buy the culled lacewings i have seen so far that have as few features as a bush budgie, so i just held out until something I really liked came around. On the weekend as many of you know, there was an auction in Perth, and after reviewing the catalouge, Kaz very kindly offered to bid on anything I liked :star: Well there was a beautiful lacewing hen for sale from our very own Nubbly!! I melted when I saw her photo and knew she was the hen for me. With Kaz's awesome help, we won her!! She arrived at the Adelaide airport yesterday and these photos were taken when she first came out of the travel box. I popped her in the show cage first for a quick photo and to get a gauge of her size (REALLY HAPPY) and as you can see she traveled very well and didn't even miss a meal Here she is... Thank you Kaz and Nubbly

Hi
I agree with Kaz, albino or lutino. could be lacewing too, but its definitely a hen in any case Just a note, I wouldn't handle the eggs as its very easy to adle them or for bacteria from your fingers to kill the embryo.

Thistle

Bird Diseases Contracted Into Humans
I hope your Doctors find a diagnosis for you soon. You need a Dr House! It must be so frustrating and scary not knowing. My thoughts are with you and your family. It's great your birds are not likely to be the cause and i hope you can find some peace and joy in them while you are waiting. Pets have amazing results on the human immune system and the bodies ability to heal.

Rubbing Their Heads
Ear infection can be caused by viral or bacterial infection. An isolated infection is most likely bacterial from a object penetrating the ear, dirt, seed, feather, mites etc and causing irritation to the ear and eventually an infection. Viral infection is more likely when there is more than one case, but also can be bacterial from something such as a mite infestation. The ionic silver will treat both bacterial and viral ear infections very effectively.

Budgie Has A Bad Eye
It could be any of the things you mentioned. He could have irritated it, it could be an ingrown feather, and blocked tear duct. A worm in the eye (YUK!), psittacosis (BAD!) , an injury etc. It looks red, swollen and painful... a vet visit would be the best thing for him right now to work out what is causing the eye to be inflamed. In the mean time, always assume the worst and lock down for possible psittacosis. keep him isolated and wash your hands well after touching him. hopefully its not psittacosis, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Rubbing Their Heads
Ionic silver is purchased from health food stores as alternative medicine. here is my boy. I caught him up because i thought he had a bleed on the side of his head from a fight, but when i caught him it wasnt blood, but fluid and yellow crust. The ear was badly swollen and (even though he was brave in the flight) he was in so much pain he would lay on the bottom of they hospital cage with his infected hear to the floor :thankyou: Day 1 nasty swollen painful infection (ouch ) Day 2 swelling lessens pain goes and wetness dries up significantly Day 3 almost completely gone 1 drop of ionic silver (colloidal silver) directly into the ear three times a day until infection clears then pro biotic for 5 days and all should be well.

Rubbing Their Heads
He has an ear infection. I can see the wet matted feathers and yellow crust in the photos Get some ionic silver and put one drop directly in the ear three times a day until the swelling has gone down and keep him in the hospital cage with heat for the treatment. I had a cock have one in May. Was nasty but cleared up quickly with treatment and he is 100% now and breeding perfectly ... will post the pics.

Hi
hello and welcome Its great you are checking your babies in the nest. it will help you find early signs of things being wrong. The babies should be clean and not getting any poop on their bodies or legs or face. Have you got nesting material in the box? it may just be there is nothing to dry out the poop. wet and messy nests can be the first signs of illness in the chicks. If you smell anything offensive in the nest, then infection is present.
