Trying To Make A Travel Cage
I make all my own travel cages and nest boxes etc, and none of mine are square either as i only use a jigsaw What you have done looks fantastic and it will work brilliantly! The easiest door to make is a sliding one. You can buy plastic strip stuff (which i think is used for edging ply and plaster board. that will fit the thickness of ply and creates tracks for a sliding door

I agree. HEN- Bird Room And Aviary
Looks great! I bet you are stoked with it!- Greywings
The intensity of the light in your bird room will alter the colour of the chicks on the camera. Our brains will adjust automatically to light change so we dont notice different colours. Your babies are stunning!! You have some winners there- What A Night Mare
I believe you are allowed to capture a cat in your yard with a trap and take it to the animal shelter... after a certain amount of times the cat is caught trespassing on your land, the owners will be required by law to restrain the cat.... i think... We used to have a cat come around here every night and it hasn't been back since i drenched it with the garden hose- What A Night Mare
Good to hear all is okay again. Night frights are the pits I am not a real cat person either, but i love other peoples cats. I get annoyed with the cat owners who let them out all day and all night and basically only come back to eat their dinner. Kaz is the most responsible cat owner I know- Lacewing
I agree. pictures would help lots- Record Keeping Is Important
I did a postmortem on her last night as i was worried too, and there was an egg in the Cloaca, and her vent was swollen and bruised. She was a black ring so could have been from December. We bought her in April. I didn't notice any previous symptoms with her, but i don't check boxes every day. She is our first case of egg binding. She was in top condition otherwise. beautiful glossy feathers, clean vent, good weight and lovely tan to the cere.- Record Keeping Is Important
Very sad loss as she was a lovely hen. This is why we don't breed YOUNG hens!!! I carry the weight of her death on my shoulders, 1 because she was too young and she shouldn't have been breeding for another 4-5 months easily, and two, i couldn't treat her egg binding effectively - the egg was not near the vent, but very much internal. :hooray: On the flip side, her eggs, left for a full 24 hours with no brooding, are alive - little hearts pumping and embryos wiggling when candled! The miracle of new life, and i hope they do well under the foster.- Winner - Young Birds (novice Category) Competition
Aww, thanks When we returned after judging i was wandering around the 300 birds and i couldn't find our DF spangle Yellow anywhere. I was getting worried and was thinking she may have been put aside. When i asked about her I was told there one one "over there, on the top bench". I was like, no that wouldn't be her.... but too our surprise, it was :celebrate: Anyway, here she is, and the pretty trophy that came with her. She is the daughter of Longcock who is from WA and a hen from VIC I might add, i am pretty stoked about the trophy... i have never ever won any trophies or medals etc for any achievements before, so this is pretty special for me- Break It To Me Gently
Here is Cirrus sitting in his favorite spot And Shaggy pushing the toys around 100% siblings- Break It To Me Gently
Sure. will get photos. 3 of them are going to the show this saturday :wine- My Aviary....start To Finish
Biggest babe, to you and Ken. You are both in our thoughts. Our deepest condolences from all of us- From Little Things, Big Things Grow!
I agree too... best not to touch.. not because the parents will care, but its extremely easy to addle the eggs or transfer bacteria into the shell from our fingers and leading to the embryos death . Very informative video Lib! well shot =D- Break It To Me Gently
I have the perch low, I have a photo of Cirrus sitting on it and will post it soon. some have told me to let them live on wire bottomed cages, but this, in my mind is terrible for their feet so i give them fresh news paper all the time. They get lots of poop around their vents that needs to be pulled away regularly to prevent constipation. FD's are far more common than most of us realise as they are culled at first sight and not normally talked about. The FD i feel is much happier in a companionship. Shaggy and Cirrus are very close and are always preening those hard to reach places for each other I have plans to create an article at some point when my studies calm down a bit. Am planning to do only one subject over Christmas so should have time to put something together then- Break It To Me Gently
They are doing well.. will get photos again. I am not doing the wash and trim method any more as they are not getting really dirty any more. I changed their diet too what i mentioned above to keep their feathers as clean as possible. Cirrus has taken strongly to perching, he loves to sit on his perch all the time which is rare for a FD- Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
two fertile is good news - far better than NONE! Good luck with them and i hope some more colour up for you - Another Baby Dies
Aww i am so sorry you are having troubles and i hope the peace returns soon. I feel your pain  Take care of you and only cull what you are comfortable with as resentment will only make it worse for yourself. babe - New Forum
