Crop Feeding
I agree with Kaz. Good luck with finding a demonstrator. If you have troubles finding someone, look up your local budgie club and they should be able to find someone to show you, if not, get the vet to teach you.

Hen Won't Lay In Nest!
some hens, no matter what the age, will continue to lay off the perch. A breeder we visited recently has one who always does it. Its almost like the hen thinks the egg is a poop rather than an egg (hens don't poop in the box) The breeder used a deep container under the perch filled with wood shavings to catch the eggs, and then she moves them into the nest box when the hen will sit on them.

I Have A Cheeping Egg!
I agree with Kaz. The peeping means they have penetrated the aircell but still have 12-24 hours of hatching to do. Only intervene if it hasn't hatched before nightfall tomorrow.

Sick Or Not?
Without hearing the squeak its hard to know. cocks are very good mimickers so he may be copying an environmental noise. Odd noises can also be air sac mites, air sac injury, respiratory issues etc. Hopefully its just him being a clever boy, but while you work it out, you have done everything right.

Love At First Sight
Wait until you have finished quarantine and your hen is feeling 1000% healthy. Breeding will brings out minor or latent illnesses which only end in devastation by either the parents dieing or the chicks suffering.

Health Issue
birds are very good at disguising illness. When they are fluffed up and on the floor its often too late to save them so dont wait for that to happen. If you see any change in behaviour, always assume illness before anything else and give a heat lamp. Heat is the biggest contributing factor when it comes to saving a birds life. When a bird is showing any signs of illness or even just a little off character, put them in a small cage with a incandescent globe (25-40 watts) shinning right on them. Some will hug right up to the globe. Aim for about 37 degrees air temp in the cage, up to 42 if your bird looks fluffed up and sickly. Apart from heat, they need energy. Give pure raspberry cordial in the water at a ratio of 1-2ml to 100ml water - Other than an energy boost, pure raspberry is also a mild antibiotic and can help them feel better. Also give seed on the floor of the cage. If you ever want to move a bird from living inside to living outside, its always best to do it around November before you need to use an a/c to cool your house, but the nights are warmer than right now. Your hen would not have the body fat or down feather to cope with the cold right now.

Hi, I'm New
Hello and welcome. This photo is amazing http://www.wellensittich.de/subdomain/user...rainbowbaby.jpg You have very beautiful budgies

Break It To Me Gently
not canary mix Catherine, but finch mix. Canary mix is no good for budgies either. I use pure canary seeds Canary seed (good) Canary mix (bad)

Fluffed Up Birds!
If he has been showing signs of fuffing for some time i would follow daves advice. You cock may have mega, which is slow acting and causes the bird to waste away. is he thin??

Leave Hen To Raise Chicks On Her Own
I have been advised that a hen can incubate and raise up to 4 chicks perfectly fine on her own. Seed in the box is a great help for her. Anyways, you dont need to worry about the third clutch. Just remove and new eggs until all the chicks are fledged and then take the box. It's not the egg laying that is harmful so much, but the feeding of three rounds that is dangerous

My Baby Cage
Cant hardly wait for more photos! they are stunning GB! you must be so proud
-
Break It To Me Gently
I use finch mix too GB - its really good. - Its the main blend i give and then just add hulled oats and sunflower as well as more canary seed to it for the breeders or just hulled oats and a few sunflower for the general birds. cockatiels get it too with their correct blend of seeds Funny how budgie seed is no good for our budgies, but finch is ideal (with added seeds)

Break It To Me Gently
I do love Cirrus very much. He has always been my favorite (don't tell Shaggy). Cirrus is the strongest one of them all and it was apparent from a very young age. Cirrus will be alone one day and he may suffer as Shaggy's company is very valuable in his life. they seem to live for each other
-
Break It To Me Gently
14 weeks old Cirrus as beautiful as always. He is doing fantastically, looking awesome and as happy as ever. He is starting to show some adult plumage now too. I can see the richer yellow coming through on his head Cirrus has also taken up the talent of the beautiful male warble. He sings very quietly, but its gorgeous to listen too. Shaggy is doing okay. He is still very thin. He seems to fluctuate with his weight. one week gaining and the next week loosing. He is starting to moult now too so will see how he goes with the added pressure I have been modifying their diet each time i find an issue and it seems now its on the right track. The feather condition play a HUGE part in their well being. If the feathers are dull, dirty and mattered they are very miserable. ALL soft food makes their feathers VERY dirty so they now have a seed only diet. Even dry pellets mat their feathers when they have a drink. The seed only diet is 50% canary, 15% oats, 15% sunflower 20% white and jap millet's. Oh, and a side note - both Cirrus and Shaggy perch on the low perch they have in their cage - its 5cm off the ground and this helps a lot with keeping their bottoms clean

Black Eyes Or Plum Eyes?
