Bernie is a beautiful budgie.

I had been trying to take photos of my birds flying and finally got one. George and Franklin can be a little naughty and fly to the top of our tv and sit there perched for a short while until I tell them to move and then they fly back to their cage where they sit on the top. I took of photo of them flying off the tv and heading back to their cage. George looks so cute as he is flying. :hap:

Thank Libby, that thought did cross my mind that most opalines are females. If he does turn out to be a she I may have to change its name. I was wondering with male opalines is the cere normally blue as I have not seen too many photos as most are female?

Congratulations that's a large clutch of eggs! I'm sure the babies will be beautiful. Hope everything goes well with the reshuffle. I think those 2 have had enough of each other by now.

I'm sorry to hear the news about Dottie. Sorry but I don't know what is wrong but i'm sure someone on the forum will help you out in how to treat her. I hope everything works out for Dottie and she makes a fast recovery.

He is gorgeous! It's a common thing for people to be given the wrong information from pet stores so I wouldn't worry too much. It has happened to me a couple of times. All of my pet budgies are male and I find that they are more friendly and are easier to tame than the females so it's not so bad.

Most people think that my new one is a boy and so I'll take a chance and name him Henry. :rip: Here are a couple of pics of taken of him today.

It can perch okay. I agree and think it may be splayed legs.

Thanks. I thought is was younger. It sits on its feet but the feet are spead out a little. The right foot does not provide as much support as the left.

I bought a new addition last night from my local pet shop. George, Franklin and Balki will have a new friend soon. It is in quarantine at away from the others and I am training it at the moment. When I got it home it was very frightened and couldn't keep still. Today it is better and more calm. I can feed it seed with my finger and it lets me scratch it cheeks sometimes. It likes sitting on my shoulder. I noticed that it sits lop-sided and does not sit up straight. You can see this in my second picture where it is eating seed. I'm not sure if this should be of any concern. I was thinking maybe it has something to do with it being young. I was told by the pet store that it is 11 weeks old. Does that seem right from looking at the pics because I'm not too sure? The pet store did not know whether it's a he or she. I know this question gets asked alot but can anyone tell whether it's a girl or boy? I'm in the process of giving it a name.

Thank you everyone for your comments. :fear I bought the camera in time for my trip to Melbourne and Mildura. I'll be leaving tomorrow morning. Really looking forward to taking lots of pics. Hopefully the weather won't be too bad!

I know what you are going through because I also have a phobia for cockroaches. If I see 1 cockroach around there is always a possibility that there is more. I had heard that rosemary and garlic can deter cockroaches. I am not sure exactly how this works. I think it may be an old wives tale. Anyhow, I sometimes place some rosemary in my kitchen cupboards. I'm not sure if this has worked but find that I don't have too many cockies around. I dont know if your cage is indoors or outdoors but maybe you could try having some rosemary or garlic outside the cage or under the tray as it may harm your birds if inside the cage. I wish you the best of luck in getting rid of these nasties.

That's a great cage. You could easily fit up to 8 birds. :budgiedance:
