Dom Pied Baby
I did put her in a kindy cage, where she unfortunately lost all flights and tail, but happily, she grew them all back before she graduated to the nursery aviary. She is now outside, with all flights and and tail feathers, and flying well. I will post more pics of the baby as it grows. I am hoping it might be just straight dom pied, rather than spangle. Most of the few dommies I have are cinnamon, or now a spangle and I would really like some straight dominant pieds to work with. In saying that though, I am pretty happy that although this pair only hatched one baby in each clutch, both have been dom pieds!!

What Variety?
Im not great with greywings, but they look like a normal sky greywing hen to me and possibly a greywing opaline light green cock? I will be interested to see other responses

Coloured Calcium/pedi Perches.
I used a pink one in the kindy cage, which becomes my show bird holding cage when I am getting ready for a show (cause the babies are all out by then) and I quickly remembered to take it out so I didnt take pink birds to show! lol

Regurgitating Seed?
If that is the only water she has access to, you can be pretty sure she will get some. Alternatively, you can crop her with a small amount to make sure.

Regurgitating Seed?
I wouldnt breed with her, it sounds like canker to me. I would be treating her with Ronivet and sorry, I wouldnt even try putting her down for another six months, if she comes through.

G & G 2010/2011 Breeding Season
Thanks for posting Nubbly - they are gorgeous fallows! Their wing markings are lovely and dark and they have great feather. Mine look a bit average in comparison, but I did get 8 visuals and about 4 splits this season, so Im happy with the quantity, just have to strive for that quality now. Well done, gorgeous babies

Going Gaga Over Greens
I just thought I would share a few photos of the budgies in their different aviaries going mad for the seeded grass I put in this morning. This stuff is growing up through my lawn because of the aviaries nearby, sprouting from budgie seeds. On the weekend I hacked back some native hibiscus and shared that around all the aviaries too. The have stripped most of that by today and I think they must think its Christmas, seeing they have another lot of green stuff to chew on! Native Hibiscus Seeded grass A few of my adult breeding birds The "teens" - my young birds after graduation from the nursery aviary The Nursery Aviary - most of these are chicks I have bred this season, there are a few older birds in there, but mostly chicks My current fav girl - cinnamon violet - I call her Princess and she really thinks she is one. Eying off the action down below.... And joining in! (right at the bottom of the picture)

Dom Pied Baby
Just some updates on this post. She lost all her flights and tail, but is now growing them back, much to my relief. I took some snaps this morning, including the parents and their new chick. This pair have only hatched one chick in each clutch, but I wont complain, one is always better than none. The thing I am really happy about, is that both of those chicks are dom pieds. Gotta be happy with that! Sorry the pictures of mum and dad are very average, mum doesnt like being out of the box much and dad, just wouldnt sit still. As we all know, pictures through bars are usually ordinary. Anyway....... Beautiful babies Dean! Is the cock bird cinnamon? He doesnt look cinnamon on my screen, but the chicks obviously are. He must have lovely dark melanin

Droppings Turned Green
The only thing I would suggest between now and then is to not feed any greens or veggies. Also honey water might perk him up, I have had a bird come back from severe sickness on honey water alone. Not that I am suggesting it is a miracle cure, just it might help between now and the vet visit. Honey water is very diluted, like one teaspoon of honey to a litre of water. You're going to waste a lot of water for one budgie, but it's only a teaspoon of honey, so it doesnt matter

What Colour Is This Chick?
And I would love that. Love dark greens - your chick is gorgeous! I am however, interested in knowing how you get olive from the mother. Not that I am questioning she is olive, she looks grey green to me and I would just like to know the difference to for my own knowledge (I have a hard time with dark greens/olives/grey greens etc.....)
