  1. This is usually the way I tell if they're fertile as I'm not very good at candling
  2. I think that was Karthik that was basing it off Daz's design. Your set up looks great Jodie, hope you get great results.

A front on closer photo of the cere would help with sexing and it does seem to have the start of scaley face. Good looking bird
  4. Glad to hear that there is some improvement
  5. That's probably why I couldn't find it
  6. Are the leg rings the same colors for years on all bird species? ie: Budgie - green ring = 2007 Cockatiel - green ring = ??
  7. I have used the cock before and he was an excellent father, but he wanted nothing to do with this chick either which makes me think that the parents know when the chick is no good. The hen was a first timer, she is 18 months old. I will leave them in the breeding cage to see if they have another round or not.
  8. Does any body remember the post that was on here about getting the 2 free light globes? I did a search but can't find the post I think Kaz started it? Just wondered if those who filled in the website had gotten their globes yet?
  9. It was her last egg, so don't have to worry about that. She only laid 3, first was clear, 2nd develop a hole and chick was DIS and the 3rd hatched and unfortunately the mother must have known best about not feeding it as when I checked on the foster mum this morning the chick was dead, had a full crop but not alive.
  10. Checked about and hour ago and the chick's crop was full and the foster Mum is happy as larry. This hen eats the shells so I don't have to worry about removing them. Thanks Kaz
  11. He's looking much better deb, great job on nursing him back
  12. Thay are hilarious Liv
  13. Glad the pain is slowing up a bit for you Andrew
  14. Golly if I'd known you were giving these away I'd have put my hand up
  15. I can type fast but can't read handwriting very well :hap:
  16. I gave the little chick 2 feeds with the diluted handrearing formula while the mother looked at me stupidly, then after a couple of hours I checked last night and it seemed that the hen had feed the chick. Checked this morning and nothing, so I feed it some more handrearing formula in the hope the mother would again do her job, noooo when I checked an hour later it looked like she was playing soccer with the poor little thing. My husband distracted the other hen I'm using as a foster Mum and I put the 2 half shells and the chick in her nest box with the other 2 eggs she's sitting on she had a feed and went back into the nest and she is feeding it, so fingers crossed that's it's doing okay when I check later.
  17. You are a talented girl Libby :hap:

Great photos Neat, you'll have that spick and span in no time at all Just one question where are the photos of this: I can do cart wheels in it heheh it's 2m x 1.5 m x 2m .... (Neat's quote)
  20. Hope you have more luck with a culled bird from a pet shop than I've had. All the culled hens I've bought have been egg smashers or lay and leave the eggs - I guess they're culled from breeders for a reason
  21. Well done Trooper
  22. Poor boy I hope he's on the mend soon.
  23. I put a couple of males together in a cage to rest for between 1-2 weeks after breeding, just to watch and see that they're ready to go back into the avairy, same with the hens but I leave them for 3-4 weeks. Just depends on the birds.
  24. okay Kaz, I will try the formula and let you know how it goes. Thanks
