Two New Hens
I find breeders sell offs to be quite resonbly priced... I bought a show type 07 rung Yf1 violet hen for 15 dollars... nothing wrong with her at all... bu yet went to a pet shop and paid 25 for a simple recessive pied pet type... :S wonders will never cease

All Pellet Diet?
I've also never fed pellets, and don't feel the need to. My birds aren't over weight... so i'm not sure about the all seed diet causing this... It's not i'm against pellets, it's i find seed more readily avaliable to me and I don't feel my birds would overly like it.. :bluebudgie: so for me the choice to change or not is already made i'll stick with seed BUT like everyone else has said... the choice is YOURS and only yours Never know, oneday maybe i'll try some pellets, and they'll suprisingly like them... but for now... seeds and fresh foods from my choice Good luck in your decision!

Seed Quality Check.......
Trill i'd also agree is one of the best brands, but since i have to buy so much and how expensive it is i buy pre packed bags of 20kg from a local bulk seller... There's three levels of seed... standard, breeder and something else... i've only ever bought the first two or else it become more expensive... but both of them are enjoyed willingly by my birds

What Should I Feed My Birds?
Natives are fine

Regular Feed
Fresh veggies are better, leave for no longer than a day(12 hours) MAX in cooler weather less in hotter! feeding them in evening or night time is best, as that's when they're most activly feeding. Packet veggies are acceptable, but the fresher the better, and certainly not served after cooking, as it's not filled with as many nutrients after being nuked, boiled, steamed or however you do them

Tamed Budgie
Both tame and aviary birds breed :budgiedance: if you wish to keep her tame once she's old enough she should still breed for you I am doing the same with my tame boy honey atm... he will be bred once old enough as a tame bird

Hi dragonx... Firstly your birds are too young to even be considering breeding yet... Your aviary could house many birds easily... However not with canaries or finches in there.... they must be kept seperate... Do you have a picture of your cage that you currently have your budgies in? By the sounds of it it's not suited to budgies at all :S let alone for breeding... More than likely a cocky cage :budgiedance:

Advice Needed For Baby Chicks
A cock bird like other have said CAN raise chicks, however ones so young would be a concern because they don't regulate their own body temperatures yet, so unless he's sitting tight on the chicks (which they don't usually) they may become chilled and die.... As others have suggested the best thing to do it to call around and find a friend/someone close by with pairs to foster them to. Hand raising them yourself is an option, but for chicks so young and with no experience in the matter it can be a very hard thing to do... You have to be able to provide them with the warmth/nutrients they require 24/7 which is a HUGE job.... I hope your cock will do a good job for you, or that you find a foster Good luck :hap:

Old Budgies ....
Eldest budgie that i own... would be a green spangle boy named emerald... is he a great grandfather to a few of my flock a grandfather to more, and a father to many! he's just hatched his most recent chick last weekend.. i would say since i've owned him around 3-4 years he'd be about sixe according to his last owner :hap:

Healthy Treat
As i have weero's an budgies in the same aviary we make up a mix of fresh black sunflower seeds and a standard budgie mix put together (20kg budgie - 2kg sunflower) My budgies tend not to eat the sunflowers and i don't have any over weight birds :hap: For fresh food i give them a bunch of random foods, atleast once a day now... They love any kind of dark green leafy vegetable (cabbage, lettre, spinach, bok choy) They love fresh grasses and milk thistle and are given grated carrot (or steal my rabbits whole ones) Every now and again we give them corn on the cob and hard boiled egg But basically i just chop and mix everything up i can that i have on hand and give them that once daily, if all foods are safe
