  1. sounds like an angry hen noise to me
  2. haha just had to share the story of my little old girl "agatha" who recently passed away... She is quite possibly the ugliest bird i've ever owned/seen... She was the first bird i ever bred (dec 05) and has given me some gorgeous babies She's always had an underbitten beak and in her older age developed a rupture in her under carriage preventing her from breeding any longer.... after that in more recent months she had lost her ability to fly and also her ability to balance well so she was very light on her feet and would topple over often... to add insult to injury she then turned half blind in her old age... The thought never once crossed my mind to put her down, she loved her life in the aviary... She slept with the rabbits for warmth and dawdled around on the floor all day... mindlessly bumping into objects... although some people will probably Say it was a horrible thing to keep this bird alive, i honestly beleive even against all the things she was suffering from that she enjoyed her life... We sadly lost her about 1-2 months ago now But i know she's at peace with no more bumping into things and with being able to fly again I'm glad i didn't think to put her down, It would've killed me to have cut her life short so early when in the end the only thing she died of was old age :hap: And i saw how much she enjoyed her "laid back" life when she was sick... she ate well, ate her greens and had a few friends in my ground ridden disabled birds :hap: Here's a picture of her cuddling up with my bunnies feet :hap: She was adorable! so i hope you don't feel bad about keeping your bird alive... because In the end that's the way we all want to go, from nature not sickness
  3. I spose it's the same as how the first aviary bird got his worms ever... they all have to get it from somewhere, and it's better to be safe than sorry
  4. Nice pictures! i like punter also! Deb punter is a green dominant pied
  5. Looks cool aside the bars in the way woulda been a killer shot without them! but still looks awesome! i'm guessing it's sun down, not sun up?
  6. I'd say let her live her natural path of life if there's no illness
  7. Mite spray if you see mites... Worming every few months yeah have iodine and calciuim in there.. and add some vitamins in different ways Cuttle bone is not a requirement, with a calcium/iodine bell in there She should eat enough calcium Yes that is normal, most birds are active during the morning and afternoon/evening times but are more docile inbetween these two times.
  8. Agree with KAZ Pick one cock to be with the hen... which best compliments her, or what you'd like to receive from the babies

Well i'm glad to report both fallow bubs are doing GREAT!!!! one's alot bigger than the other, but that's as usual i guess We did have a third hatch suprisingly But unfortunatly it died in the nest at 1 day, suspectedly due to heat, especially with it's other nestmates being so much larger than it... Here's some pictures of the Bubs and how they're looking today :budgiedance: the eldest bub is being Rung today - the little bubba! - the elder bubba! - sibling hugs

In my experience it is the "dodgy" places that give away sick of injured birds also.... I've taken in a few before where their owners have treated them like vermin because they were not normal, i also didn't have to pay a price because they couldn't wait to palm them off... i say good on you for taking the baby even if it is sick... alot of "bird mill" owners would've eventually snapped it's neck to rid themselves of it, so see it as you saving it's life and doing the bird a favour
