  1. i agree with you Daz.... I've had people ask for my show size chicks ( which i'm just starting out breeding) Over my pet types... but i also prefer to hold onto the bigger birds and feel... almost.. harassed at the want of the birds you yourself want to keep... We now do as throwback has suggested and put birds being sold in another cage before a buyer comes, or else we get alot of "what about that one" comments when pointing out the birds for sale in the aviary :hap:
  2. i feel ya on that one Dave! My top cabinet needs to be reached with some kind of step up tool (usually a garden chair) But that's because i'm a short a*se :hap: a whole whopping.... 5'3 & 1/2 HAHAHA
  3. he sounds like he's doing wonderful already! Perhaps if you'd prefer it at the point of where you control where he is, clip his wings so he has to step up onto you before he gets what he wants (your shoulder)... That may help with his hand tameness.... Also try tunnelling... (running you hands over the bird repeatedly whilst on your chest) Check out the FAQ's for other tips and hints sounds like a gorgeous bundle of fun

that's pretty cool! but i have no idea how you can see the double yolks :PI must be blind :SBut i definatly see fertility!Yes Liv... That's how you get twins ... Well Non siamese twins anyway :fear... Siamese are joined together so i can't remember if it's two eggs that fuse... or one egg that seperates (Laughing out loud) or rather for budgies, i guess it would be neucleas, if they're possible
  7. No wonder i was confused (Laughing out loud)!!! haha

dad appears to be a cinnwing, if not that then a greywing, but to me seems more cinnamon atm... So that makes you bub cinnamon also, which explains the lighter colouring on it...Dad's also split blue because your baby's blue :DSo so far your babies a YF2 cinnwing something wait til it feathers up more and show us some pictures of it's wings and so on i'm guessing spangle Gorgeous!i said cinnwing Kaz, coz of the thorat spots being violet :S and the brown tinge on the wings :S

It's very strange for a budgie to sit on a quails eggs... The male and female quail take turns of doing their nests so it's not unusual to see the male quial on it... but a budgie now, that is odd! (Laughing out loud)Male on the left, female on the right :)Hope that helps
  14. i'm going with Elly! he does appear very slate like though doesn't he?
  15. Does it feel really... "grainy" i guess you'd word it as?
  16. There's no desperate need to write No#2 on it... Just write down the hatch dates and when they all start hatching you'll Know which one it was if it doesnt hatch then you'll know it was egg #2 that was due to hatch and didnt :hap:
  17. Hi Julie! What a great face to put to the name :hap: your family looks wonderful! How old are your kids and what're their names? Once again lovely to see you

Oh yes i forgot to ask.. What breed of quails are they? I was presuming normal kings, like alot of people have in their avaries?
  22. Definatly a hen!! The blue bird appears as Norm said to be a greywing sky opaline :yellowhead: Very pretty!
  23. Try checking the crop contents ( feeling with your fingers) to see how solid it is... it may require some liquid added to soften the food and ease the digestion process...

You can get brown males as well so going by the blue tinge to the brown doesn't help if you have silvers or cinnamons... Cocks have a white "beard" like appaearance on their face... i'll run out to the aviary and get a picture of mine for you... For memory quail eggs take around 14-16 days... and she will generally only start incubating them all once the last is laid... so they should all hatch around the same time. Remember to remove the male! as he WILL attack hen and chicks! And make sure the bottom wire of your aviary is chick proof, you'd be amazed at the tiny holes they slip through!
