I can totally relate to your situation! Just last week I was in a panic as my very light 10 yr old rabbit had to go under a light anasthetic to have some stuff checked out, I was ample with the vet that if he didn't have a high chance of making it out of it he was not to go under Sometimes you take these risks and they pay off, I know for my boy it did, he came out of it within no time at all and I was over the moon, good luck I hope it all works out for you as it did for me!
  3. Pfft who uses clearflight dom pied and Aussie, to me a Dom pied is a Dom pied, but i'm slack At least you girls know your stuff But yes, a sky blue dom pied
  4. I know how you feel, we had a storm last week causing all the same problems :s It gets really scary! glad you all came out of it okay so far
  5. Dad has to be atleast split opaline for any bubs to get it, can't only get it from a hen There will be alot of wrinkly bubs :hap: it happens when they don't fill out their skin with enough fat or a little dehydrated, it still looks fine though
  6. That's awesome i only have a 500 dollar card and each payment still seems like it's going nowhere! Well done :hap:

yep, or one that has a photographic memory Remember there's always ones who look young and you can tell, but if you've owned them since half way through that year and they were fully grown when you got them you then know by mid next year they'll be good to go :hap:
  8. Well you have a cobalt normal cock and what I would say is a DF spangle hen. Going by age of the two and presuming they're from the same place then the other baby you'd expect to show signs of pied gene for the other bub which is probably it's sibling to be a DEC. From birds you can get Df spangles from you can still get normals from, so that would be my guess Great pictures By The Way, lovely and clear, both gorgeous birds
  9. Gorgeous nice big bubs Last ones not a spangle as the wing feathers show it's not They're all stunning especially the first :hap:
  10. *libby* replied to Neat's topic in Breeding Tips
Yes they would generally be rung with the same ring, a breeder should have on record which part of the year the bird was rung in though
  11. He looks like a lovely green clearwing
  12. Ahh my bad, i thought you said he thought two girls
  13. I was under the impression you thought both were girls orignally Dave?
  14. It gets like that with some of them  Esepcially the non-clearflight dom pieds who look very similar to recessives with their markings
  15. I've had several that just suck in air and blow their crops up, not whilst being fed or anything. I personally think it's a loose crop pipe or something that lets in air until they grow into it. Watching them inflate themselves like a balloon made me re-think the feeding theory. When it's extensive amounts of air i'll squeeze it out to releive a bit of pressure, but i have found it'll right itself it is can.
  16. The recessive pied ones Liv are Dom pieds
  17. Jenene i'm coming to live in your house... i mean aviary
  18. Lovely light green cinny hen I know nothing about pairing for size, but she's gorgeous, so's the cock
  19. Hi

Howdy and Welcome Great to have you here
  20. One has gone brown, it doesn't have to be crusty though
  21. Agree with Neat All cocks splitto lacewing and all offspring to be normal greens unless other splits are being hidden
  22. With the exterminator i got in we had to deal with mice in the lovebird aviary aswell as rats attacking my cabinets. He informed me that the bait he used can't kill my dogs unless they ate half their body weight. All baits were put out of reach of animals and even if they did get them they wouldn't be killed. For the mice he stuffed a piece down their little holes and they've all totally disappeared and the holes have not come back again once they were covered.
  23. I feel the same way, a few years back dad put a mouse trap in the safety door compartment of my old aviary and it caught a mouse, but by the rear end, when i got in there to feed the birds the poor thing was alive but with a snapped spine, i set it loose and it dragged it's back half which was all blue/purple/red along and looked so helpless and patheticly sad I ended up crying and backside up vomiting in the garden it made me feel that sick and guilty
  24. I have put hens down who're not in the "ready" condition but once interested they soon change into condition and do as well as the others. It helps to have a few pairs down at anyone time to get each other interested.
