  1. Thanks Liv,I'd try that except she'd try to bite my hand off when l put my fingers near her beak :PI try to just simply put my hand in her cage, and just above her feet near her body, as if she were to step up onto my finger, but she always manages to bite me.I've even tried letting her bite me like crazy, and not react. Thats when she drew blood and my eyes were watering because of it.Don't get me wrong, l love her to bits though She's my little b**ch The cage is bigger than your standard pet shop cage (which would be 30cm by 20cm and 40cms high or something like that)It is wider and longer only by a little bit. Its more taller than anything, which l realise now was a bad mistake. I thought it would make a good cage, but l should have gotten one that was more wider than taller
  2. Okay, so l've been a bad mummy Sherbet has always been a biter. And l tried the different ways to get her to stop. I tried the glad wrap on the finger, pushing her mouth a little when she bites, and l even resorted to (please don't hurt me anyone, l know its wrong) to tapping, and only tapping her on the head with my free finger when she bit. It wasn't a rough tap, it wasn't hurting her, it was quite lighty. Now, l know the last thing l probably shouldn't have done, l did it a bit, and she seemed to learn, but then went to biting worse than ever. She's know 6 months + and she bites me all the time, everytime l put my hand in her cage she attacks my finger, my hand and even my arm. She drew blood a few weeks ago which resulted in these weird bumps like mosquito bites on my arm. Even if l go to put my hand in there for only 10 seconds to get the veggie bowl out, she's attacking my hand like crazy. I thought maybe she's territorial with Fizzy being in there? She feels like she has a duty to protect him? He has no problem with my hand, well, he is scared as all *** of it, but he has never ever bitten me. I have also tried millet spray, by holding it in my hand and having her eat it, but she soon enough realises its my hand under there and attacks it. I know, l'm a bad mummy I feel stupid for doing it, she is my first budgie and l guess l ruined her in that way  I just wanted to know, is it too late? Have l ruined her for life? If not, is there anything at all that l could try?

They are very cute! Cornflakes is a sweetheart!! I love the colouring, very soft pale yellow and green. Great names too! :(Laughing out loud): P.s how about some more pictures of your adorable Saffy?
  4. They are just the sweetest - like best buds
  5. Deb - something l can relate to I haven't actually been to that part of NSW yet, but l'll add some of my own: This is when my ex-boyfriend and l went on holiday to Scotts Head. Its on the coast near Kempsey. This is my pop's lighthouse that he grew up in The view from our unit that we rented for the week A cute little crab, it was about the size of my hand Taronga Zoo: I love Giraffes And me patting a lamb who kept trying to eat my paper bag: New Years Eve at the Harbour Bridge:
  6. (Laughing out loud) When you come to Oz, make sure you go to Kellyville Pets. Thats where l bought the cactus perch from, and l haven't seen them anywhere else. They looked so cool and interesting Thanks birdluv Fizzy hasn't got an iris ring yet - would it be because he's still young? I've had him about 2 months and l bought him when he was a little fella.
  7. Heh, or people like me who haven't even been outside of NSW :P Wonderful pictures! My Aunty lives in Perth, l should go and see it sometime.
  8. Heh, sounds like my Sherbet Quick question, why are their beaks a browny colour?
  9. Wow, it looks so interesting and full on I want overalls now
  10. :budgiedance:
  11. Haha, l don't blame you :budgiedance: I don't know much myself, well, nothing really compared to the pro's
  12. Just took these, took a while to resize and upload them - there are 12 pictures :hap: Oh and please excuse Sherbets dirty bib - she was eating her veggie mix today - corn, carrots etc. Also - would someone please be able to tell me what type of budgies they are? Like colours etc. I haven't got the faintest idea :budgiedance: Sorry about the quality of the pictures. Oh, and underneath his wings, Fizzy has deep blue feathers which you can't see in the pictures below. Sherbet on her "new" cactus perch Sherbet trying to bite me through the bars On her swing Biting my hand like crazy. Fizzy: Well, there they are
  13. Your birds look fantastic! Its great to see you have their best interests at heart :budgiedance: I'm sure they are grateful for you looking after them. When l bought Fizzy, l asked to have his wings clipped, only so l could help him get tame(which never happened), and wouldn't fly away. Little did l know that the pet store guy only clipped one and Fizzy was off-balance, but now his wing has pretty much fully grown back, and it's been two months since l got him, it could have been earlier, but l didn't notice the wing before.
  14. Deb - for the sleeping patterns, my two tend to sleep either on their swing/perch or actually hanging onto the side of the cage! The wire/metal bottom is fine, thats all l have. As for the branches, all l know is that to not get any branches that have been sprayed with chemicals. Even if they haven't, before you put them in give them a wash under clean water Have you heard them both chirp yet? That was the most exciting part for me when l got my budgies
  15. One quick question about the cage setup, do you have the food/water bowls near a perch? My setup in my cage are those disposable water and feeders, which are very low to the bottom of the cage, and l have a perch in front of them so they can sit on the perch and eat easily EDIT: heres a picture of what l mean; this is my darling bossy boots Sherbet. See how she has easy access to her food and water dispensers? Also, note the faint lines on the top of her head; also known as "bars". If you have a look in my signature at her picture, the bars are completely gone, meaning she's no longer a baby - she's over 6 months old now.
  16. Beautiful budgies Now, l'm no pro, but from what l've learnt about the bars on the head meaning its young, l would say that Charlie is not all that young. Nice sized cage by the way! I saw one today that was very similar for $140 and l was very tempted to get it
  17. Cool names If you do need to change them (hopefully not) you could change them to Charli and Bonny Looking forward to pictures and as for that pet shop! I have seen a few like that, l feel so sorry for the budgies

Sherbet l chose because l had a current addiction to Wizz Fizz at the time - its that Sherbet in a pack with the little spoon and you lick it and you eat the sherbet Then Fizzy was named pretty much after the Fizz part of Wizz Fizz.
  19. Congratulations on your new purchase and new family members They will bring you years of joy Mine are constantly playing and talking, it would be very quiet without them. Also - when you get the time, why don't you post some pictures up? I'm sure a lot of people are looking forward to seeing your two little bundles and might even be able to tell you the gender (if they are good enough photographs)

Sherbet loves to play, Fizzy isn't all that fussed :hap: Mainly because he knows that Sherbet will "kick his butt" if he goes and plays with a toy that she particularly wants to play with, or was thinking of playing with it etc.

Hey Kate Wow, you sure do have a lot of budgies! Have you by any chance got any pictures of them? I'd love to see them :hap: Sarah

Show: Family Guy Live: iAussie How long have been a BBC member: Since August last year Job: I'm at TAFE doing my Surveying Diploma, last year this year and l'm working 4-5 days a week as a Surveying Technician Party Leader :hap:
  23. I am experiencing the same problem.. I have had Sherbet for over 6 months, and Fizzy just on 2. When l introduced the two (and still now) Sherbet is taking charge. Not 24/7 though, only when l put something "new" in, something that wasn't there before - Sherbet takes control straight away, pecking and going angry at Fizzy whenever he comes near. I have put it down to a number of things - she was always spoilt, she is an aggressive bird, and she probably believes that because she was there first and she knows it. She is also older and bigger.

Hehe, Charleys a BAD boy :yellowhead: That bit made me smile
  25. Hello and welcome What beautiful birds! :hap: Sweep reminds me of my Sherbet Great cage setup, although try some natural branches instead of the dowel ones My birds like to rub their breaks on it and pick at it
