Handling Age
Alot of show breeders handle from day one cause they have to check the leg ring. it came become encrusted and tighten around the little birdies leg, but if you don't have leg rings then not an issue.

Keeping breeding boxes clean
Just wanted to ask. I have spare nesting boxes. as mine can be removed from the cages would it be a good Idea to prep the spares and then when I go to clean the nesting box, move chicks into a new clean one and attach that to the cage that way I can give the other ones a good clean out. Then start again. Basically means that I will switch out each nesting box every two or three days for a new one if that makes sense. Thought please. Cheers

Postive News
More good news, we are now tail bobbing free. Yes no more tail bobbing from anyone. Also we are 95% discharge free. The boys (Brandon, Micky & Kadaj) all are free from Discharge and their poo is normal. Sky is also 10000 times better and outside of still missing a few feathers she has restarted her quarantine and in 30 days will join the avairy guys back in the aviary. The boys are looking about about 45 days to be on the safe side. Ashley and Grey are doing well. No tail bobbing and only a little discharge from Ashley however we still have watery running white coloured poo so they do not get a quarantine restart. Lemon is ignoring the breeding box so thinking I might have to look at a different cage for her and Lime one that does not have a wire grill on the bottom. Might buy a more tradtional breeding box and put them in that. Also found out that Lime can no flight but then again he has put on weight so he might just need to get fit! Boof is also better. He is still a little freaked about being taken out of his cage but once I have him in hand he settles quickly is not biting me and knows I have the millet seed! So all in all a good result so far.

Larger Pet Birds
I am starting to think that after my weekend away I might just do this. My only issue is that my sister is really scared about a galah so it's going to be stressful for her but we will see how we go.

What Did You Come Home With Today Av?
Thanks Liv we have a meeting coming up next week so will ask around at that. I really would like a spangle so then hopefully she can get spangle crested babies which will look like their dad. I really do think he is a nice bird.

Larger Pet Birds
I have been a bad bad girl! So I have been visiting Ollie (what I have dubbed the King Parrots at Ivan’s) I go into the bird room and he comes over and jumps in my shoulder. He seems to like me and I find myself falling in love with him. Ivan will not part with him for under $450 which is a lot for a king parrot but Ivan wants to make sure that someone serious takes him as I spoke to Ivan yesterday and found out his back story. Ollie was hand raised but then something went wrong. Ivan does not know if he had a bad experience or he was let to go feral but something went wrong and no one will tell Ivan want is was. Ollie was brought to him and at first you could not get near him. He still has a thing about being grabbed (don't do it, he really freaks out) so as long as he thinks everything is his idea then he is happy. He is into everything wants to be with you and happy to wonder around your shoulders or take stuff out of your handbag. Ivan has done a lot of work with him and he is just one of those bird who are into everything. He also can't handle it if you try and touch him around the head, he does push his head up under your hand but if you raise your hand near his head he HATES it and freaks out. Ivan and I both think he might have been hit at some stage. He can say "Hello" "Pardon" does half a woof whistle and now cause of me starts the phrase "Do you mind" which is what I tell him when he try’s to eat my buttons. He has also worked out that "Do you mind" with me means stop what you are doing. My other half is going to come and meet him this weekend and my sister as well but I need people to talk me out of it! 1) He is a lot of money 2) He may have behavioral issue due to his early life 3) He will go through a stage in the next few years and his personality may change 4) Do I have time for him 5) Where am I going to keep him? 6) I have never had one of these birds how do I look after them, I have no clue what to do 7) Do I really want to get one this large? 8) He is going to live a long time. If something happens to me who will take him on? Oh I so should not be going in each day and bonding with him..... I think I am falling in love with him which is a bad bad bad bad bad thing but he is so cute...... :budgiedance: Someone hit me over the head now please!

What Did You Come Home With Today Av?
Thanks Elly, great read. I would love to give MB a pair for her wedding gift, we where talking to each other last night and she said most people give crock pots I give Budgies..... :budgiedance: Hey she could have a crock pot if she wants but I think the Budgie is a beter gift anyway! Oh after reading the article I believe that he is a half-circular crest (or will be when his molt is finished) I also now know that I should pair him with a crest-bred which is a baby from a crested bird but with no visable signs of cresting.... okay where am I going to find one of those?

Free Budgie With Cage
I am a little shocked the outcome was so good but glad because it means that I think people who complain to organisations are getting the message out there. I am starting to feel like I can make a difference!

Breeding Cages`
The guy we bought the cages off told me that I should use the bottom bank as holding cages and the next two as breeding cages. He knew that I would not be using the top ones as they are two tall for me. Also all the breeders I have spoken to or seen their set ups have them at least of foot off the ground unless they are holding cages.

What Did You Come Home With Today Av?
Yeah I know they seem to flock to me! But better I get them then let them go to bad places. I will always take them if I can. I also tell everyone who will listen about my birds so everyone knows me as the crazy bird lady. Really never knew that, thanks Liv. What would you pair him with? So I have an idea of what to buy for MB? Calling Kaz she always knows the anwser to these questions

What Did You Come Home With Today Av?
Nope he has tail feathers just sitting in a odd positon in the first picture. MB is going to give him a home and I am going to try and find him a tuffed or crested hen to pair up with for MB as a wedding gift. Really when I first saw him I was like... Oh MB is soooooo going to steal him from me!
-
What Did You Come Home With Today Av?
no he is crested I am pretty sure, just it all over the place due to blood feathers being broken and his molt will be good to see what he looks like when he finishes him molt. Honey if you really like him he can be your wedding present, will have to find him a girlfriend. i think Ivan has a tuffed white hen in at the moment will check in the next few days if she is nice then i will see about getting her for you so i can give you the pair, I have a funny feeling she is a spangle as well. When I first saw him I thought, MB would just fall in love with him! He is a decent size which is godd as well. You will have to come check him out!
