That is a good price - Youd pay $80 for the wire fronts alone I was thinking that Liv will bid. MB I only really want a few as over flow cages or for birds that can't settle as I will get them wall mounted. So we can get them and work out who wants want and split the cost. I agree with Elly and neat. I find my guys go through molt if I change their environment. Eg, I aught all my guys and put them in cages while I am painting near the aviary and they have all started to molt! So I have 10 very grumpy birds!

I really thought Lemon had worked out the whole breeding box thing, she spent most of this evening going in and out and then goes to sleep by the end of it! Grrrr stupid hen. I really don't care if she breeds or not, but she is showing all the signs of having and egg and i want her to be comfortable and the grill on the bottom of the cage can't be but hey each to their own!

Liv I have been thinking that. I really am not happy about not being able to give these guys veggies and calcium due to the doxie but I think I might just start adding some in at least one day a week. They have never shown any signs of being sick but then they do little thinks like this..... I might so talk to the vet again. Or maybe (as my mum suggested) Lemon told him she was up the duff and he just plain passed out! Oh GOD I had not thought of this! okay no one is to bury birds at my house till I get home and confirm that they are in fact dead!

You're telling me deb! I mean why did he not move when Mum grabbed him? She did say she did it quick and she hates handling dead animals so maybe that was why she did not notice??? All I know is she called me and told me that Lime had died but then did a jesus on her and came back to life at the vets... I was sitting here crying untill she finally told me the entire story!

My poor mum just got to my house and saw that Lime had died, he was lying in the nesting box on his back with his feet in the air He was still warm when she wrapped him in a teatowel and put him in a box and dad and her took him down to the vets to find out what he died from.... only issue at the vet they open the box and, well, he's not dead. A little peved at being woken up but nope not dead. In perfect health outside of being a french molt bird (Kaz you where right) Poor mum got a heart attack when she opened the box at the vets and he wiggled out of the teatowel! She just rang me and yelled at me for about 5 mins over my non dead bird and how all my babies are going to be the death of her.... Funny thing was the vet laughed so hard over the whole thing that he did not charge mum for the consultation! I had seen Lime roll on his back before and sort of sleep but had not really thought that he would sleep sleep like that but I guess he and Lemon are just a little nuts!

I use to heat gum oil and rose oil in hot water as I was told that there are less fumes. Harley was in the same room but the other end and never had an issue that I know of. I never liked having open flames while he was around as he would get all said and depressed if my sister burnt a candle in the same room as him and it would take a few days to get back to his normal self so we stopped doing it, maybe candles gave him headaches? Err on the side of caution.

Will do. Ivan said that she comes in fairly regular and asks questions which is good for a first time owner. She has mass amounts of pictures that she carries around of her Cuddles so I might see if I can nic one and scan it. Will also give her the heads up about the swing, thanks for that Kaz

*mods if in wrong place sorry* Ivan has had this old grey/green show type Budgie in his store for a while. He has his own cage cause he does not fight back and the other birds will and have laid into him in the past. He is a nice looking bird and has won some shows in the past. The breeder did not want to keep him cause he never managed to fill an egg which is a pity cause he really is a nice bird! Ivan took him in with some other cull brids from the breeder but is a little of a loss with what to do with him as he is 8 years old and does not get along with another birds. He has at many time hinted that maybe I would have a spare cage to put him in and really if he could go into my avairy then I would have taken him but I know that he will just get beaten up. About a week ago I was in there getting cod liver oil and talking to Ivan when this mid 40ish woman came in, she has decided that she wants to get a Budgie and has no clue about them so was asking questions. She had been told to get a young one from a breeder so Ivan and I where talking to her. Ivan had no young babies but did start talking to her about cages and size. Now he does sell everything however he always recommends flight cages 61x41x41 as a standard. So she purchased one of them, some seed and a few toys and wanted to know if we knew of a breeder. I was going to give her MBs details when she spotted "Killer" as Ivan and I call him. Well she fell in love. In true show Budgie form he sits in his cage as if he is at show. You can't see his eyes and looks grumpy all the time. So she asked how hard it would be to tame him, Ivan explained that he was 8 and may only have 2 years ahead of him. That as an older bird she was looking at 2 - 5 years and large vets bills. She was not detered. So I explained what it means to have an 8 year old untamed Budgie and the issues she might run into with him. Nope she still wanted him. So Ivan puts his hand in the cage and Killer jumps on up. No bitting, no flying around nothing. Seems that Killer is so use to be handled that it was just a natural thing for him. So Ivan lets him go with her with instructions that if she is uncomfortable with her purchase then she should come back ASAP. Well last night I see her in the store and think "Oh God what happened, we warned her" so I ask her how Killer is going... she looks at me and say "Oh you mean Cuddles? Oh I love him, here look at the pictures...." She has converted an entire room of her house into a MASS play gym for him. She works from home so he spends literally 24/7 with him! He is still not sure about toys but happy to eat out of her hand and sit on her lap or shoulder while they watch TV. he has never bitten her and she just loves him, he has also discovered the joys of getting his head scratched. I am glad he has found a great home, a little shocked that he is so tame but it's great. Just thought everyone would like a cute story for the day.

Ignore me, I was talking about handling from the day the leg rings go on not from day one but I can't type... that for picking that up Kaz.

I have one Budgie who will sing part of the Buffy theme tune if he feels like it! Nope I did not watch Buffy alot when he was young I swear!
