  1. The only thing I would recommend is to cut the veggie up a bit my guys seem to eat the apples and broc better if they are cut up. Or grate broc stalks they love them done like that
  2. Thanks dave I really was not looking forward to having to handraise a Budgie at the moment. Will do thanks again
  3. I have a Chick that was born on the 24/5 and I believe has splayed legs. I know that I am going to have to splint the legs but not sure if I can leave the chick in the nest box with a splint? If I can't should I leave the bub until it's over a week old before I pull inside to handraise? Just trying to work out the timing as I think he/she is almost to smal to handfeed at the moment so would not mind leaving him in with his mumfor the next week but don't want this to effect the way his legs heal
  4. Works for me, maybe google triple J unearthed and then search for PLATO and find it that way. Thanks for trying either way
  5. Thanks pearce for DLing your screen must be different from mine. I think she has a great voice I just hope she gets what she wants out of this
  6. On the right hand side of the screen there is a box that has play in it click on that and it opens up another window and you can hear the song it says Listen to and then under that is a pink box with inverted written in it and then you have under that play queue rate tag in little buttons hope that helps hmmm maybe I should do screen caps....
  7. Go to http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Artists/Vi...?artistid=26918 If that link does not work look up PLATO. Vote, review, listen, download. More songs going up soon! Thanks
  8. Well worth it to plant a bush if you can, some types will do well in pots. I also planted a Gum that my mum gave my birds for xmas year before last and I just keep cutting the top off it and giving them the new leaves they love it. However some like it to dry out and then attack it a few days later, other destroy it within mins of going in the cage. Best part is my breeding room smells great for a few days!
  9. I planted two bushes in my back yard and they LOVE them when I cut off branches for them
  10. I know, there is a place out in Officer (no jokes please) that modifies sheds and I want to go have a look at one they have for $1200 which might be what I am looking for.
  11. I found this shed I like and I have been thinking that if I can cut some windows in it then I could split it into two and then that would really keep the water out. Might have a talk to my builder and see if he can do that for me.
  12. Really come on people! I have the dimentions of my avairy I even have pictures of what I want it to look like and so far the quotes have come in ranging from $1400 to $4000 for the same thing!

I have done that but I block the breeding boxes up but after one 12 week old chewed her way into the box I decided that I was going to have to remove the boxes all together
  14. macadamia nuts are his fav at the moment sometimes he like almonds or walnuts. I love that movie. It was just one of those fluke things. Some nights I can not make out a word his says other nights it's a clear as day and then he will get a new word and use it for everything. At the moment he is trying to say yes so we get lots of esssss esssss essssss which is cute Thanks I think he is, I find it funny as everyone told me Kings where bad talkers if they talked at all so I never taught him to talk never even really picked up on it until pippi told me he was saying whatcha doing over and over again and then I started to tune my ear into his talking. I am researching on how to teach them to talk better at the moment as I have put little or no effort into him speach but he has picked it up anyway.
  15. I am trying to get him to talk on a video but he seems to go in moods some nights i am like to get a hello and others we have full on conversations. Need to see up a spy cam I think!
  16. I thought you might like to know, had a non bird person in the house and my sister was telling them about Elmo and how he is like a 2 year old and then the little show off and I ended up doing this. Elmo - Hello AV - Hello Elmo - out out out please AV - fine you can come up but no flying out of the room Elmo - ooooo good boy AV - okay yours a good boy Elmo - whatcha doing? AV - just finding this number for this gentleman Elmo - oooooo *pause Elmo is fasinated with the guys hair piece, I could see that not ending well* Elmo - nut? AV - no you get your nut when you get dinner Elmo - dinner? AV - no you don't get dinner till after Anna finishes hers Elmo - *progressively getting louder and louder* Anna... Anna... ANNA... ANNNNNNA Anna - WHAT! Elmo - nut? Anna - fine have a nut you little s**t head (note to self get her to stop calling him that cause he will pick it up) Anna hands Elmo a nut Elmo - ta I thought the guy was going to pass out, he was like "he talks to you, he knows what you are saying, he understands..." now I know that Elmo is responding to audio cues and also associates certain words with getting certain things. He knows if he says out he will be allowed out. he knows if he says nut he will 9 times out of 10 get a nut. The thing I find funny is that he can't just say "Anna" he does the three or four repeat getting louder and louder I figure that is the way i call her when i am in the study. Anyway thought you might get a laugh
  17. Just just wanted to add Just cause a bird CAN go for long periods of time does not mean it SHOULD go. We have access to clean fresh water unlike the more hardy bush budiges.
  18. How does this differ from my vet giving me little viles of medication for my birds? I have seen them pull out the BIG container and then fill my little bottle, put a sticker on it and give it to me
  19. I have been told by a vet that a bird can go upto 6 weeks drinking water... HOWEVER this is in the wild and they will get liquids from other sources such as grasses etc... in the summer months when it is hot they need water on a daily base. You have to remember the 6 week rule is based off the winter months in the outback. Bird owners have to give their bird water on a daily base as we have things like air conditioners and heaters which will make the bird drink more. I did not see Harley drink for about 5 years now I see him drink on a daily base, maybe because he is older, maybe because he no longer cares if I see him drink. It's an insticnt they have, when a bird drinks in the wild they are at great risk of being caught (they have to fly down to water holes and expose themselves to nasties that will try and eat them) so they don't like drinking with someone watching them.
  20. No I have not I use to rid lots when we lived up in Euroa and was a member of the adult ridding club once I was to old for Pony Club. I then hurt my back and now my Horse is a Polo Breeder and has just had another little filly so very very very pretty!
  21. Macka I was there and so was pippi and budgielover13 and Splat kept trying to point you out to us but we could never find you! Had a great chat to splat and her hubby about birds and bird that they had to buy back from the petshop!
  22. That's great that they are willing to help you find the right fit. When you test ride him take your own saddle as this will give you a better feel for the horse so as you are not getting use to both a new saddle and a new horse. Also check that the saddle fits. I find that thoroughbred are one of the worse horses when it comes to switching saddles. My Cob i could take my jumping saddle then put my allrounder and then my dressage on him and no issue with Holly I had to get all my saddles refitted to her as she could not handle a ill fitting saddle, her sire was the same! Fussy fussy horses
  23. Hi as someone who has horses all her life I can say YEAH! But also remember don't get caught up in the "great new horse" and forget that you need to make sure the fit is right for you both, there is nothing worse then buying a horse and getting him home and realising you had made a mistake
  24. I would say she is just young. It's a big adjustment going from a nest to a cage in a petshop to a single bird house. You have to remember that when the birds are making noise it is safe when they go quiet it is because something big and scarey is going to eat them. She might be having issues with the fact that she can't hear her 'flock' and this will take her time to adjust. You might find that leaving a radio on softly during the day might make her feel more comfortable.
